Nanci | 75 comments 94. The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics The Boys in the Boat Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics by Daniel James Brown You all know I am not big into non-fiction but for some reason this title caught my eye. I am so glad it did. I really loved this book. I listened to it on audio and I thought the reader did a good job with it. The book focuses on on of the boys, Joe Rance, but he does a good job of telling about each of the boys as well as what is going on in the country and what is happening in Germany as Hitler's regime and policies rise.4/5
95. Winning a Groom in 10 Dates by Cara Colter Winning a Groom in 10 Dates A little fluff. Just OK. 2/5
96. Safe in His Arms Safe in His Arms (Under Texas Stars, #2) by Colleen Coble 2nd in a Christian romance series. 3/5
97. Tempting Fate by Carla Neggers Tempting Fate Neggars usually tells a good story. This one didn't catch me as much. 2/5
98. Way to Be!: 9 Rules For Living the Good Life Way to Be! 9 Rules For Living the Good Life by Gordon B. Hinckley If I could get all the young people I know and love to read this and take the advice to heart, I would never worry about them. This is sage advice from a man who had lived over 90 years at the time he wrote this. What a great book for youth in a difficult world. 5/5
99. Above Rubies by Jaclyn M. Hawkes Above Rubies Cute religious romance. 2nd in a series featuring an amazing Wyoming family. 4/5
100. Trapped Trapped (Private Justice, #2) by Irene Hannon
Second in a series by Hannon. Another solid romantic suspense. I enjoyed it. 3/5

Nanci | 75 comments 101. The Rithmatist (Rithmatist #1) by Brandon Sanderson The Rithmatist

I love to read a book written by Brandon Sanderson! He doesn't ever disappoint. This steampunk fantasy is such an interesting read.I listened to it on audio but I am guessing it would be even better to read the book because I am sure it must have illustrations that supplement. I was unable to get the book from the library, when the audio came first I had to snatch it up. I highly recommend it!
5/5

Nanci | 75 comments 102. The Fault in Our Stars The Fault in Our Stars by John Green I am sure I am in the minority here but I didn't love this book. It just depressed me too much and didn't have enough in it to overcome that for me.

Nanci | 75 comments 103. Wither Wither (The Chemical Garden, #1) by Lauren DeStefano
I didn't really like this book that well. It started out promising but just didn't deliver for me. The other books in the series don't really interest me so I am stopping here. The only thing I want to know is which boy gets the girl. Can anyone tell me that?
104. Etiquette & Espionage (Finishing School, #1) by Gail Carriger Etiquette & Espionage This steampunk YA novel is great. I had a lot of fun reading it and I can't wait to get the next one in the series. I liked Carriger's adult series and I like this one just as well. My teenage daughter loved it as well.
105. The Arrangement The Arrangement (The Survivors' Club #2) by Mary Balogh I am almost finished with this one so while I am on here I will just include it. I am a Balogh fan. This is the second in her latest series about a group of friends who suffered some serious war wounds, mental and physical, but gave each other the strength to overcome and go on. I like the way Balogh gives you insight into the minds of her characters. I just have a really hard time putting her books down.

Nanci | 75 comments 104. Of Poseidon Of Poseidon (Of Poseidon, #1) by Anna Banks I liked this. I didn't realize it was the first in a series when I picked it up so I was disappointed with that but I think I will read more. 3/5
105. Fired Up (Trouble in Texas, #2) by Mary Connealy Fired UpThis was OK. I liked the first in the series better but I like the characters so I will go on.2.5/5
106. Altered Altered (Altered, #1) by Jennifer Rush I thought the premise was intriguing and it caught my interest. I didn't really like the way it all played out and it had more profanity than I expected in a Young Adult novel which also bothered me. If you get this, don't get it on audio. The reader was really bad! Maybe the worst reader I have ever heard. This was a thumbs down for me, others may have more patience for it than I did.
107. Defender for Hire (Heroes for Hire, #9) by Shirlee McCoy Defender for Hire I like Shirlee McCoy's Christian romantic suspense. 3/5

Nanci | 75 comments 108. Forgot one...The Heist The Heist (O'Hare and Fox #1) by Janet Evanovich This is fun. Lot's of chuckles and an interesting plot line setting up for many more in the series. If you have ever watched the series White Collar, this reminds me of that. 3/5

Nanci | 75 comments 109. Going Vintage Going Vintage by Lindsey Leavitt About halfway through with this I was almost ready to give up. I thought I could see where it was going and I was bored. I kept at it and I am glad I did. There were some nuances and lessons learned and I liked the last half much better than the first half.
3.5/5

Nanci | 75 comments 111. On The Wings of Heroes On The Wings of Heroes by Richard Peck I wanted read something that would help me to gain more appreciation for those who have served our country in the armed forces. In the US we celebrate Veteran's Day each November and I just wanted to read something in honor of that. This was a great book to read for that purpose. I loved reading it. Richard Peck does a great job of helping you to go to that place in time. My grandfather fought for our country and it took a big toll on him. I really appreciate all those who support our country in all branches of the military.

Nanci | 75 comments 112. A Curse Dark As Gold A Curse Dark As Gold by Elizabeth C. Bunce This was a darker telling of a fairytale than I usually like. This was just OK for me. I kept wanting to read other books before this one. I don't think this is one I will recommend much.

Nanci | 75 comments 113.Of Triton Of Triton (The Syrena Legacy, #2) by Anna Banks I thought this was a solid second in the series trilogy. I will recommend this series to those young adult readers that are interested in mermaid tales. This series is the best of that type that I have read so far.

Nanci | 75 comments 116. The Royal Ranger The Royal Ranger (Ranger's Apprentice, #12) by John Flanagan This was good, not as good as most of the others. I think he should have kept the series ending with the previous book.

117. The House of Hades (The Heroes of Olympus, #4) by Rick Riordan The House of Hades Another thriller for the series. I was hoping this would end it but, of course, I hoped in vain. A little spoiler but a fact I loved--Leo gets a love interest! I have been hoping that would happen.

Nanci | 75 comments 121. Ghost Hawk Ghost Hawk by Susan Cooper I enjoyed this Native American story by Cooper. It starts out from the point of view of Little Hawk, a Native American boy of 11 years.Just before the halfway point the book took a kind of strange turn. The rest of the story is actually told by the ghost of Little Hawk who is tied to the land and the other main character, John, for some reason neither of them knows. I guess that is a little bit of a spoiler but not too bad. I liked the story. It gave the settling of the pilgrims in the new land from the American Indian point of view with some of the point of the view of the white man as well. It gives much to think about. I would put my rating about 3.5 because there are years that are sort of skipped over as John becomes a man. This is definitely worth reading. I would put the age range around 10-15 and it might be enjoyed by guys a little more than girls but I liked it. Jim Dale reads it and does a great job as always.

Nanci | 75 comments 122. Christmas on Mill Street Christmas on Mill Street by Joseph Walker Very cute story about a 9-year old boy who had recently moved to Utah and his first experience with snow and winter. It is the Christmas season and the big question is whether or not to believe in Santa.A little slice of life from 1962.

Nanci | 75 comments 123. Loki's Wolves: Blackwell Pages: Number 1 in series Loki's Wolves Blackwell Pages Number 1 in series by K. L. Armstrong This is a fun offering featuring descendants of the Norse Gods and the prevention of a 2nd Ragnarok, if the kids can prove themselves up to it. I liked it. 3.5/5 This is different from other things these authors have written since they have targeted the middle grades. I would put this as maybe 4th-8th grades.

Nanci | 75 comments 124. The Wee Free Men The Wee Free Men (Discworld, #30) by Terry Pratchett Very fun fantasy read. A lot of lol opportunities.

125. Bubble World by Carol Snow Bubble World I feel like this is worth a read mostly for the between the lines issues it raises. A teen might not get the same perspective as a mother if teens does. Not a great read but thought provoking.

Nanci | 75 comments 125. Forevermore Forevermore by Cindy Miles I was in the mood for a little romance. This is a cute lightweight YA romance with a ghost and set in Scotland, what more do you need? Nothing objectionable in it sensuality wise.

Nanci | 75 comments 128. The Name of the Star The Name of the Star (Shades of London, #1) by Maureen Johnson I really wanted to like this one. It just really fell short for me.
129. Legion Legion by Brandon Sanderson
Not my favorite Sanderson but fascinating premise and gave me some interesting things to think about concerning mental illness and multiple personalities.
