Vampires
and Angels

Vampires
and Angels"
Thanks! I will look into it. I always love new suggestions.
VAMPIRES, FARIES, WEREWOLVES, AND ANGELS

I reckon werewolves and Fae :)

I think ghosts are interesting, but probably because the idea of ghosts in real life actually freaks me out a bit.
Most of all, I like new ones, like Gabby mentioned before. I like reading new things people come up with or new ways people interpret the old creatures.
Overall, though, I think any creature can be done well, it's just a matter of context and story.

Exactly! There's always a new spin on old ideas. The best stories reinvent old tropes.

Which creatures have you tried this with? :)

Apparently, LOL, I like mixing paranormal/sci-fi, romance and dystopian/apocalyptic genres. Go figure.
I'm also tossing around an idea for magicians/demons and M/M/F triangle. Already have a few chapters written.
Do you have a favorite that you're not tired of yet?

Faires or the fair folk they went from cute to nasty if you read City of Ashes: The Mortal Instruments you will see why.

I will never try of vampires, they have been around long before Bram Stoker stumbled upon a bio of Vlad Tepes.

I saw that happen in Darkfever too. The fae look like creatures from the movie Prometheus. :P

I'd read something called Fairytale Apocalypse for sure! I love fairy tale adaptations and the title alone makes me laugh.
I love the idea of magicians. I haven't read a lot of books that deal with them (and the one I'm reading right now--The Magicians & Mrs. Quent--has yet to have a magician actually appear, and I'm a little more than halfway through).

Totally DITTO! I need my vamps to be E.V.I.L.! I'd love to write a reimagining of Vlad Tepes that doesn't suck like The Historian
The writing was wonderful and it had a lot of build up creep factor, but it just petered out. ARgh!

I loved Prometheus! I've read some of Moning, but not her Darkfever series, though I heard it's good. I need to put it on my to read list.
LOL, yeah FA was meant to be an eye-catching title. Here's the basic listing I have so far if you want to read the blurb. Fairytale Apocalypse- A Romance of Apocalyptic Proportions
I haven't written to many magicians lately, but magic is something I've written a lot over the years. I love inventing new world rules for magic or tech. I hate reading books that are "and it just works, ladeda" I want to know at least some of the details and world rules. But that's the science/tech side of me. But then when I write sci-fi it ends up more romance/sci-fi... sigh. So hard core sci-fi readers get ticked at me for mixing peanut butter with their chocolate, if you know what I mean. Then romancers are all ... why is there chocolate in my peanut butter????
LOL, but I LIKE sci-fi/paranormal, romance... What else am I gonna do?

Actually, I already found that and read it after you first commented on this thread. I clicked over to your profile and stalked you a bit. ;)

Is that what the weird feeling was?
:o)
I'm hope, hope, hoping to be done by the end of this year. Some day soon, I'll be posting a thread at that book site to sign up ARC r2r readers. But I don't want to start the waiting list too soon. I'm about 1/2 finished writing the first draft and now I've got an idea for its sequel.

I also like something totally different/unexpected. I know someone mentioned Holly Black's Curse Worker series. LOVED IT!!!

Pun intended? ;)

"Undead and Loving It: Vampirism is Easy because Humans are Stupid."
GIMME. I like vampire comedies!

Right now it's not very funny. When I write comedy, I have to go back and 'funny it up' during the second+ drafts. My brain tends to write too serious the first time out. *shrugs* Meh, I go with it. I do have a working cover draft though.
