Cherrelle Smith (spoonary) Is anyone else having a problem with the homepage of Goodreads? Every other page seems to be fine, but on the homepage I get an error.

Pink haha, poor Christine!

Ozzy is far far from my musical tastes....although I loved reading Sharon Osbourne's autobiography a few years ago, that's as close as it gets for me!

We are planning on the first two... Camping and reading.. Most of our children are grown but at least once a year we all go camping.. grown kids, their spouses and kids and grandparents. Last time we went there were 24 of us. lol we rent three spots side by side and all of us tent it up.. no RV's allowed hahahah. We had like 18 tents set up. We take our guitars and fiddles and drums and have a blast. Others join us to listen and some even participate. We do shut it down by 9pm though.

message 112: by Cherrelle (new)

Cherrelle Smith (spoonary) Wow, it looks like you've got exciting stuff planned, whereas my summer will be spent selling every possession of mine that is not nailed down and generally saving money because I'm going to Spain in September for my year abroad. I'm so excited! Not quite sure if I'll be studying or working yet (I've sent off all my paperwork, I just have to wait for replies) but it's going to be amazing and I can't wait.

I am focusing on trying to move back up to the Chicago area. I have to get a job there first. If I pull it off, it will be exciting! My alternate plan is to win the lottery so I can move back up there.

Pink All your plans sound great! This summer I will be trying to afford a beach holiday somewhere in Europe, or failing that a short weekend away. Other than that I'll be working, reading and finding some free time to spend with my two kids, which usually involves trips to the beach (if we get any sunshine here in the UK) or trips to London, which is an hour away from where we live.

Of course wouldn't mind winning the lottery for this summer too!

I would love to go to Busch Gardens, Tampa. They have a Tiger Tug-of-War; which looks awesome!!! I want to go back. We went years ago and loved the park; but I don't remember that being there.... :O

Denisa, Chicago is my favourite American city, after Milwaukee. Milwaukee first because my sister and niece and nephew live there. But just love Chicago, small big city if that makes sense.

I wentto Chicago twice but I was like 13 years old and it seemed scary to me but I a from a small town in Ok and was raised on a ranch...I can handle a bull but not so sure about big cities... I am happy for you though as it seems to be something you really want and I hope it works out for you... the lottery would be great too.

Funny, I have problem with the small communities, but I adore the cities! I have been on the mass transit of most of the major cities in the US. It's not that difficult. If you ever find yourself venturing to a big city, I'll help you out.

Cherrelle Smith (spoonary) WOW! There are FIVE group reads here for April! Is anyone planning to read them all? I've got my eye on a couple, but we'll see what April brings. I have so much reading to catch up on in March first! Phew! -_-

Yep. Four Buddy Reads, our monthly Read and our Quarterly read. Woo!

message 134: by Cherrelle (new)

Cherrelle Smith (spoonary) As a Goodreads noob, I have no idea what the difference is between all those things. Can you explain please, Jack? What's a buddy read and a quarterly read and how do they differ from a normal monthly read?

message 138: by Cherrelle (new)

Hi Cher,

Our monthly group reads are nominated and voted or by everyone in the group. It as its own thread and two threads fr discussion. Our buddy reads are books that someone wants to read but discuss with other members of the group. It doesn't have to be voted on, just suggested. There is one thread for buddy reads discussions. Our monthly group reads are our main reads and the buddy reads are smaller and are for members who want to read a and discuss a book with a buddy/s. our quarterly read is based on a certain theme.

Does that make sense?

Thanks,
Jack :)

message 142: by Cherrelle (new)

Cherrelle Smith (spoonary) Yeah that makes a lot of sense. Thanks a lot for the explanation Jack :)

message 144: by Pink (new)

Pink Hey everyone, I'm just checking in to say hello. Hope everyone is doing okay. I'm officially on Easter holiday from work now, so will have even more time to read and spend some time with family of course ;)

I have one more book to read for my March book groups - The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes then I'm really looking forward to getting started on my new months stack of books - I have visible piles of them on my coffee table!

Does anyone have plans for the Easter period? My 13 year old son is going on a football trip to Madrid for 4 days with his school, leaving me and his sister behind in the UK. No plans for us though :(

message 145: by Michael (new)

Michael (micky74007) For the first time in years, we will have no family in town for Easter. It will make for a nice change. Easter Brunch, quiet afternoon. Looking forward to some peace and quiet.
