Or anything else about it--was it a picture book, chapter? Old or new when you read it? ANYTHING?

Laina (lshockley) | 196 comments Could it be one of Beatrix Potter's tales? There is a story where Tom Kitten gets stuck in the space between the floor boards and the rats start to make him into a pie. It's not the Tale of Tom Kitten, but the Tale of Samuel Whiskers (he's the rat):
The Tale of Samuel Whiskers

If it was only a minor part of the story, then it happens in several other books as well. I remember it happening in several children's mystery stories, usually ones that involved something that had been lost for a long time (valuable doll, a piece of jewelry, etc) and in rescuing the kitten (and I think in one, a puppy) the mystery is solved--the missing item had fallen down the same hole that the kitten did and is found at the same time as the kitten is rescued.

Julie Guay-onewillowfarm | 3 comments I remember this book well and have also been looking for it! I thought it was called Blue Boy. I remember it being a young adult chapter book, with occasional drawings throughout. I do not believe it to be Beatrix Potter. I was a teenager back in the early 70's when I remember reading it.

The Cat Who Walks Through Walls: A Comedy Of Manners isn't it, right? I mean, we might as well go for the obvious. :o)

Angharad | 98 comments I'm not seeing either the book or the author listed here at all, but there is a book called "Blue Boy" by Edwin Augustus Peeples. There's a listing on eBay with the dust jacket summary, which is basically that a boy (Colin Stowe) and his family live in an old house that's rumored to be haunted. They've never experienced a ghost there until a kitten - whom Colin calls 'Blue Boy' gets lost. Everyone believes that the house is haunted by 'Aunt Lulubelle,' with only Colin thinking otherwise.

It sounds somewhat similar, but copies look to be a bit rare.

Katie | 3 comments My grandmother had a copy of Blue Boy and I would read it whenever I stayed with her. It was my favourite book as a kid!
