I may be able to join in this buddy read with you guys!! I haven't read the second one yet, but I read the first one and loved it!! I am planning on reading A Million Suns next, and I will order a copy of Shades of Earth, which I am hoping will come in by the day that you girls are planning to read it!!! I am crossing my fingers that I will be able to get this book in time! :) I really want to read this book with you guys!! And I hate the new covers for these books too!! I thought that the first covers for these books were far prettier! :)

It's better in some ways and not in others.

But you have to read book 2 first!!

well, I guess you don't - but I thought book 2 talked more about some of the people in the novella. for me, it gave insight that I appreciated after the book.

I don't know if I would have enjoyed it as much before...if that makes sense...

I'm ready to see what happens next, but I'm so sad to end the series. I'm going to start this book in about 30 min.

I love how Elder is so calm even in this situation. I think Amy is starting to fall in love with Elder now. Their kiss after the shuttle landed was so sweet. I love Elder so much!

I hope both people from Godspeed and from Sol-Earth can work together.

Now this book reminds me of Avatar! Glowing ground, strange creatures... I love it!

But somehow, this planet is kinda scary, don't you think? The animals with saw-like claws... Yike!

I think Elder is a great leader, even he doesn't know for sure what to do. He cares of his people

I wish I could do more for my people - something.

I feel these is going to be a love-triangle! I thought Elder was so cute when he was jealous :D

hmmm..okay, I'm at chapter 25

and...I have some theories

Chris...(view spoiler)[ I think he's a bad guy. Possibly one of the original humans from the planet (from the outbuildings there) or he knows of the previous people on the planet. he knows too much. I think he's there to watch them or to sabotage them.... (hide spoiler)]

and I think Orion (view spoiler)[...well, I don't know if you've read the book The Little Prince, but the Little Prince dies in the end from a snake bite. Because he becomes friends with the snake in the beginning and then, at the end, he meets up with the snake to go back to where he came from - in the end the little prince commits suicide.....It's pretty depressing book :( It makes me nervous for things to come!!! and finally, Sol-Earth (view spoiler)[ has to be gone. I think the original message was a pre-recorded message. I don't think sol-earth is still there. I think it's gone....and I think some of the people on the ship knew this was a possible outcome. I think her dad and many others know more about the planet than they are saying.

ugh, this book is so hard to read. with every chapter I cringe more. Elder and Amy keep shouldering so much guilt and blame that isn't theirs to shoulder. And they keep not talking about things and...(view spoiler)[ I think it's driving a wedge between them and giving Chris and her dad the room to wiggle inbetween :( I hate it!!! (hide spoiler)]

do you think they are addicted to the phydus? and that's why they want it? or that it is necessary for them to survive and live based on the genetic-messing that they did?? How awful to think the humans possibly brought about our own demise by messing with genetics :(

My husband's theory (view spoiler)[ is that they are really on earth again....that they never left earth. and whatever we did to mess it up caused two suns. I tried to tell him that couldn't be the truth - but I figured I'd put it out there and we'll see! :D LOL I guess all theories are game right now!! (hide spoiler)]

I really like this book :) This is the only series I have read that all books are equally well-written.

I love your theories! I feel so sorry for people are who still in Godspeed. I hope Elder can do something to help them.

Thinking of those genetic modifying is scary! I can't believe those creatures have been created by human. How messed up that is!
