Jane (PS) | 24334 comments LOL - I've just gotta hope that they make the audio available to Australia :)

Has it come up for pre-order on Audible yet? I've been watching like mad.

Nope, not yet. IIRC, the last one only showed up a week or two before the release date...

D.G. | 4477 comments LOL, Shell! I check often too! That's why I decided to check the publisher for news.

The worst part is that the audio for the book that comes after the next one is releasing in December!!

Was your second one, Redemption by Susannah Sandlin? Angela Dawe did a good job (as always), but I was Meh about the story. The next one in the series seems promising, but the first one just didn't really grab me as I had hoped.

message 208: by Shell (new)

Shell | 2 comments Finished Monster Hunter Internationalyesterday read by Oliver Wyman. Story was slow go at first, but was a good read by the end. What made it was Oliver Wyman's narration. He was fantastic! Unfortunately it doesn't seem like he narrates romances...darn it. I could just imagine his growly baritone performing love scenes. *shiver*

Anyone read anything narrated by Gildart Jackson? I'm listening to Avenger's Angel. The story is decent, but his narration is really throwing me...the cadence is uneven and he has weird pauses in his performance.

Yes, it was. I got the same feeling as you. I though the hero was a bit too wimpy and emo to be a vampire and I didn't believe him in his leader role. Lots of humans in his care died before he did a thing!

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments i've heard mixed reactions about MHI, Shell - so hearing your review made me want to list

I'm listening to Countermeasure - narrated by Tim Gerard Reynolds - new to me narrator - nice Irish brouge - but not liking his female voices as all

message 211: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments TGG does a great Irish accent. He lived there for a while.

When I listened to one of his books, I found his women OK.

I've been tossing up on buying MHI... Maybe in the next sale ;)

Shell | 2 comments I'm going to grab the next book in the MHI series, just for the narrator alone. His female voices weren't bad, not as good as his male ones. The story in the 1st one was...okay it's gun porn for gun lovers. The author really knows his weapons. That aside it was escapist reading that made me laugh & really wish someone would talk Wyman into narrating romances. I could so envision him doing Curran's voice in the Kate Daniel's series. :)

message 214: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Oooh - nice. Next sale for sure :)

I have no idea how many I have left! I just keep listening and hoping it all works out... =P

message 218: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments I had to keep track because I tend to read a lot of male narrators. I was almost done with all the guys before I listened to my first woman!

I listen to both, but it seems lately it has been more women so I am doing catch up with the men. It is more they fall into the other challenges than preference one way or another.

You know you do!

message 225: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments technically, i would only have 3 to listen to - because I didn't count one I had already done - since had finished all my female narrators

Go on Dee! You have until end of May. Masses of time :)

And *congrats* on your first level completed!

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments question - what category would a pirate fit in? or lord ian? trying to figure it out

message 228: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31599 comments I would think a pirate would go in the Seeker theme. I put my historicals with nobility in the On the Bench theme.

message 229: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments MountainKat wrote: "I would think a pirate would go in the Seeker theme. I put my historicals with nobility in the On the Bench theme."

That sounds about right. Depending on what the pirate is doing, could also be 'Boys in Blue' if they are 'guns for hire'...

Could Lord Ian also be a Suit? I can't quite recall the details but he runs the family estate or runs the finances I think - self-employed/business?

message 230: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments he was more of a suave business-man/kidnapper, rather than a pirate - although he did have some moments - I think I might go with seeker because his need to have so much that he would never lack for anything again seemed to be a theme

message 231: by Shell (new)

Shell | 2 comments Just Pre-Ordered Kiss of a Demon King on audible, narrated by the fabulous Robert Petkoff (*fangirl squeals*). Release date 5/7/13! *happy dance*

message 232: by Shell (new)

Shell | 2 comments Wow, Kaleo Griffith, narrating Extreme Exposure is smoking! Listening to Chap 1, aka the "Oral Sex interview" session between the H/h gave me shivers listening to him.

I don't think I can this one in audio :( This wasn't a new release was it, Shell?

message 234: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31599 comments They came out last fall sometime Jane, all of them by December. PC just announced that Skin Deep and her historical Mackinnon series are coming to audio soon too. Kaleo Griffith is narrating those as well. I think he is quite good, rather new to narrating. I hear Breaking Point is excellent, that he had mastered it by the time he got to that one. Which isn't to say that the prior ones aren't good!

message 235: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments I loved Kaleo's narration but the books drove me nuts - her heroines were seriously TSTL at times

I think Tessa in Hard Evidence was the worst, but I even forgave her.

message 239: by Sassafrass (new)

Sassafrass (sass-a-frass) | 4192 comments FYI, I did try the Biting Cold with the new author of the series, Sophie Eastlake. I was nervous but I really thought she did a great job of narrating. She was different than Cynthia Holloway (obviously), but I really didn't spend the whole book lamenting about how the voices were different.

I will definitely continue this series on audio.

message 240: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (kellyvioletke) | 445 comments I finished the challenge today! That was a lot of fun!

I was toying with the idea of upgrading to Growlin' but I don't think I'll be able to squeeze in 8 more audiobooks before the end of May. So I decided to quit while I was ahead.

message 241: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments I need to do one more male narrator but don't know what I want to listen to

Penney (pschoener) | 3553 comments Hi All! I'm poking my nosy head in because I'm bored and noticed Dee's post while reading my daily GR news. Dee, have you tried Ready Player One or Nora Roberts' Inn BoonsBoro series? Both have great male narrators that have stayed in my head.

I have no idea why I didn't do this challenge, I listen to at least 2 audiobooks a week. I'll just live vicariously through you ladies :)

I have ready player one on the pile - I read the boomed nori series and I have an aversion to listening to books I've read...lol

I keep listening to male narrators but need one more female to finish! I keep getting distracted with a few MM books that I bought in an Audible sale a month or more ago...

message 250: by Sassafrass (new)

Sassafrass (sass-a-frass) | 4192 comments I'm all done! This was a great challenge. It was fun to see that I really like the warrior type audiobook. But, having the male/female breakdown forced me to find more narrators and I loved that!
