First off, for anyone looking for a shifter/ paranormal book, this is NOT one. It was a pretty good romance book with elite ops, alpha male type military heroes. The storyline begins with drama, Nick is hiding out from the bad guys that tried to kill him by exploding his boat. So he takes a construction job as a roofer so he can be paid in cash until he can determine who is after him and how far his team has been exposed. The boss of the roofing contractor is Jaymee, or Jay as she is known. She is working off the debt her ex-fiancé left her with when he ripped off her fathers roofing business to the tune of over 100k. Her dad has been using her while he blames her for the financial troubles, her mothers death and he spends most of his time drunk and verbally abusive. I liked the pace of the story told from both POV of Jaymee and Nick. The story starts off with the crisis and then the mystery behind the drama slowly unfolds. Most of the story is focused on the relationship and not wasted on details of some covert military exercise that drags on. It was free, I liked it and I bought the next one.

Review:
I won't say much here because I don't want to spoil anything for anyone who hasn't read this yet. Suffice to say, a lot of drama happens (to put it mildly), and I spent a large portion of the 2nd half of the book wanting to seriously injure one of the main characters.
The story moves quickly, and I often found myself not wanting to put the book down; however, I didn't enjoy it quite as much as book 1, so I'm giving it a lower rating. I'm very much looking forward to reading book 3, probably sooner rather than later.

@Steph Ann - glad you like the Shadow Land series, its one of my favs. Can't wait 'til the end of the month when the 4th one is released. She doesn't hold any punches when she's dishing out the storyline. I never threw the book across the room but a few colorful words flew...

Book 5 and we are back to Lily Yu and Rule Turner, after our brief aside with Cynna & Cullen in Book 4.
Rule & Lily have gone to Halo, to gain custody of Rule's son, Toby. It's supposed to be a straightforward case in front of the Judge, so we know something is about to go wrong.
To unwind from the stress, Rule goes for a run and discovers bodies in the woods, covered in death magic. He notifies Lily, who is an FBI Special Agent with the magic division. Turns out the local law enforcement has the culprit in custody already, though they couldn't find the bodies.
Lily swings into action trying to find out who, how & what happened, when another mysterious incident happens, more deaths, in front of a large media scrum interviewing Rule & Lily.
Lily calls in Cullen and he determines that it is a Wraith. Bad news.
How do you kill something that is already dead? Something other ghosts are frightened of? And who made the Wraith and why?
Really want to read the next book right now.

Review: This book was definitely an improvement over the last one. It was more focused (way less characters) and the plot was really exciting and the villains were so frightening! I LOVED the inclusion of Jack and George and I liked how seamlessly they were integrated in the plot.
The interactions between the boys seemed so real that I definitely felt Gordon's handiwork. :)

Some colorful words definitely flew out of my mouth. I remember at one point, my fiance stopped what he was doing and just looked at me, which then led me into trying to explain what was going on. I eventually just told him to ignore me and go back to playing his video game. :)

He's really not going to know what to do whenever I get in the mood to reread Harry Potter again. I'm usually a crying mess at the end of books 5 through 7. That'll be fun for him to experience, lol. :)

Review:
Lisa Marie Rice books are usually very predictable when it comes to her characters and plot lines and that's why her book work for me. Whenever I need to read a book with a big alpha hero who fall in love with their heroines at first sight with steamy sex scenes her books are the ones I can go to.
Dangerous lover had the potential to be as great as her other books but unfortunately I did not enjoy it. There were too many unnecessary POV's. One with the villain that dragged on and another with her ex lover which I felt was completely unnecessary as it didn't add anything to his character that we weren't already told or to the overall plot. My biggest disappointment with this book was the ending, it just sort of ends abruptly without any warning.
Not LMR best work and would have been an ok read had the ending been written better.

I must admit I haven't read any of her work, but I do love a good alpha hero. Which books would you recommend I start with?

Go Us!!!! Now if Mr R would only cooperate ;)

I would say you should start with Midnight Man from her midnight series. It's been a year since I've read it so I don't remember it too well but I think this one had a poorly written ending as well but I still enjoyed the book.

Thanks Nikita ;)

I think this time change really kicked my butt this week. So happy to see the weekend come.

Steph Ann yes; Lis English one is yellow, go with the Polish one like Steph Ann said.
