Isha Hey team! So I have been having computer problems and unfortunately I still havnt gotten my laptop back yet so I'm trying to post this from a phone. I did end up changing my book to hot zone but I can't seem to add the red cover edition of the book on my phone so I'll try to edit my post later when im on a computer to add the bookcover.

Book:Hot Zone by Catherine mann
Read - 22 Feb
Rating - 3.5 stars
Review
Hot zone which is set in the Bahamas where an earthquake has just hit, had a great balance of action and romane between the main characters Hugh and Amelia.
I enjoyed how the author went into detail about the rescues, the aftershocks and the lootings that happen in the middle of all the chaos which made the story seem much more real to me.

D.G. | 2752 comments Well, we didn't move far but at least we got a different color. :)

I'll probably listen to The Witness by Nora Roberts . I have two other books to read this week so an audio is probably the safest bet. :)

message 209: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann | 1220 comments This makes me really happy cuz By a Thread (Elemental Assassin, #6) by Jennifer Estep is due back to the library Friday. I've been holding off reading it in hopes that we'd get a green space. :)

D.G. | 2752 comments Great it worked for you, Steph Ann!

Drat, now that I think of it, I have Borrowed Ember (Fire Spirits, #3) by Samantha Young , which I've been dying to read. Hmmm...maybe I'll review this one instead!

Sandra - do you think it's green enough?

message 211: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Yep its green enough D.G.

DARN Green wasn't what I was hoping for this week. Next week would of been better for me :(

Off to find something to read.

That was a good one DG, I've backed off NR over the last couple of years but glad I gave WITNESS a try.

I'll be reading Dark Horizons (The Red Sector Chronicles, #2) by Krystle Jones

D.G. | 2752 comments That's what I heard, Lis! I've been wanting to give it a try. I may still start it for this as I'm still not sure what to listen in audio.

Week 5 -#97 Green
25/2/13 ★★★★★

Re-read cause I just couldn't help it.

Kitty & Martini have been engaged for 6 months but are finding it extremely difficult to commit to any wedding choices. Martini wants everything to be just right and Kitty doesn't want to lie to her friends and family who don't know about the Aliens.

Meanwhile there is a succession problem on Alpha Centauri and it looks like Martini is about to be tapped on the shoulder when a delegation from the Planetary Council shows up. But not all is as it seems.

We have Amazonian lesbian freedom fighting Assassins, lots of different Aliens, pet/guardian Poofs, Las Vegas and a great wedding.

Love this series.

message 221: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments A word of caution: you'll either love Kitty or think I'm mad. She is written very OTT and for this series I just love it. Hope you do too!

Lis | 4037 comments Dark Horizons (The Red Sector Chronicles, #2) by Krystle Jones

Title/Author Dark Horizons by Krystle Jones
Series: The Red Sector Chronicles
Finished: 2/25/2013
Rating: ★★★★
Space: #97 Green Cover

Review: A good follow up to The Scarlet Dagger. Sloane has to come to terms with the big finale in the last book, the loss of her friend, the possibility of losing another she cares deeply about. She must enlist the help of friends, both humans and vampires and a few "frenemies" too, as she races back to the white sector to find the person key to the cure for her special friend, before its too late. Lots of battles against the red sector guard, and in the white sector, the hunters, her mothers guards and the new species of rogues. Oh and lets throw in the teenage love triangle, must have one of those too. Only downside are some pretty cheesy moments and a few too many "easy tie ups" to the storyline, but its YA and that often seems a normal part of teen angst and drama scene. Overall, its a very creative storyline if you like the post-apocalyptic type stories. Will continue on with the conclusion to this trilogy that's been surprisingly good.

Rating: 4 stars

Review:

I forgot how much I enjoy this series. I had been putting off reading this one because I wasn't sure what to expect from the series (view spoiler). I shouldn't have worried. Gin still manages to find herself in a dicey situation even when she's supposed to be on vacation, this time with a vampire who's threatening a local restaurant owner. Donovan Caine also pops back up, and he's just as unlikeable as ever, although (view spoiler)

One negative aspect to this series that gets mentioned alot is the author's constant repetition of certain things. That didn't really get on my nerves this time around because it had been such a long time since I read the last book, so the repetition actually helped me remember what was going on.

All in all, this was a fast-paced read, full of action, and some very nice Owen moments. :) I'll definitely be reading the next one!

message 224: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Steph Ann, it is such an underrated series, I love it and never seem to notice the repetitions ;)

message 225: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments I really like that series too. I'm all caught up and waiting for the new release. I usually get them in audio just so I can hear "pork pit" in a southern accent. The repetition is the only downer to the series...

message 226: by Isha (new)

Spot + Color: #97 Green
Rating: - ★★★★
Finished: Feb 28, 2013
Review: Borrowed Ember caught me off guard. The first part focused on Ari’s and Jai’s relationship (scorching!) and just when I started wondering if the author knew where she was going, the overall story arc coalesced and the tale became darker, full of loss, disappointment, grief and heartache.

I was shocked by some developments that didn’t turn out as I thought, specially with Charlie. I don’t want to give you spoilers, but just know that in this book he shows his priorities and what kind of man he really is.

The book ended with a terrible choice for Ari so the reader is sure that whatever follows in the next book will bring her a lot of pain. At least we won’t have to wait too long to find out.

D.G. | 2752 comments I'll be busy this weekend reading Frost Burned (Mercy Thompson #7) by Patricia Briggs (yay!) so I'll have to use an audiobook for the next week's pick. I already looked for all the colors but I'm having such trouble with orange...sigh...

Review:

Danika and Reyes were introduced in the first book and since then I've been looking forward to reading their book. Unfortunately i didn't love their book as much as I thought I would. I still enjoyed their book but not as much as I've enjoyed the previous ones and found their chemistry a bit lacking in the Darkest Pleasure.
I did not like Danika much but loved Reyes.

I had a very high expectation from their book and expected them to be explosive but it fell short. Still an enjoyable read and look forward to reading the next one in the series which happens to be Sabins, demon of doubt.

D.G. | 2752 comments Are you ladies hoping for a particular color this week?

There's just one color I DON'T want: Orange because I don't feel like listening to any of the Orange audios I have.

Maybe I shouldn't say anything. I don't want to jinx myself, LOL!

message 241: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments *shush* Red would be the one I don't want. LOL

message 242: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments I have choices for red but I sort of agree with you...we read two reds in a row after all.

The only colors we haven't gotten are yellow and purple. I've been saving books for those so I have several choices but now that I see, they wouldn't get us very far.

LOL, there's no way to please us!

message 243: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Or is it more orange? Undone (Outcast Season, #1) by Rachel Caine

There are soooo many new releases coming out Tuesday, whatever picked has to go fast...

Steph Ann | 1220 comments I think the only color I don't really want is red since we've done that twice in a row. :)

I'll be out of town this afternoon and possibly most of the evening, but I'll check in as soon as I can. I'm meeting my fiance's mom for the first time. My nerves are all over the place today, lol.

D.G. | 2752 comments Not sure what I'll read/listen...I have tons of choices I've been saving:
Kiss Me While I Sleep (John Medina, #3) by Linda Howard Fatal Affair (Fatal, #1) by Marie Force Darkhouse (Experiment in Terror, #1) by Karina Halle A Precious Jewel (The Ideal Wife #2) by Mary Balogh

Most likely I'll read the last one because I made the mistake to start an audio yesterday when I was cleaning - one with a non purple cover - and now I'm so into it, I don't think I can stop listening!
