About 5 1/2 hours. I have in-laws coming over today so I'm hoping to do it before they come over.

Once I started I could hardly put it down, which is usually how it goes for me and Richelle Mead. Sydney has really grown on me over the last 3 books. I kept waiting for her to throw all caution to the wind and give in to her feelings for hottie vampire Adrian. Will she or won't she? Sydney also finds herself embroiled in espoinage against her own Alchemist "family" and defending herself against a witch hell-bent on stealing youth and power from young women. Not sure how many books Mead plans for this series, but with the addition of a new character at the end, things are going to be much more complicated for Ms. Sage! Next book will be published in August, which doesn't seem too far away. :-)

For blue I'll read one I've got listed for a number of challenges:

Week 7: Blue
Book: Slightly Scandalous by Mary Balogh
Date Finished: 3/12/13
Rating: 4 Stars
I wasn't sure I was ready for Freyja to be the heroine but I guess it's been long enough since I read A Summer to Remember because I really enjoyed Freyja & Joshua's romance. I think Freyja is probably not a heroine for everyone. She's a good person at heart but not a particularly nice one. She's outspoken and stubborn in a real way, not in a cute stamp her tiny foot way. But by the end of the book I really did love her, if she could still be a bit exasperating.
One of the strengths of this book is that Balogh really shows Freyja & Joshua falling in love. They each make assumptions about the other at first and although the attraction is there, it's only as they get to know each other on a deeper level that their feelings start to truly become engaged. I always appreciate romances that show you the couple moving through the steps of a deepening relationship rather than just jumping from insta-lust to insta-love. In this case we see them move from attraction to fondness to respect to love.
If Freyja is a heroine with definite flaws then Joshua's issue is that he may be a little too perfect. The handsome charmer with Hidden Depths. The more you get to know him, the more perfect he is. He's a fun character but I do prefer a few flaws. That and a draggy part in the middle are really my only issues with this book. Other than that, it was a great read.

(From my iPad; so no making it pretty)

Book: One Reckless Summer by Toni Blake
Date Finished: 13 March
Rating: 2 stars
Review:
I went into the book expecting much. I usually love contemporary romance. It's my staple, comfort genre compared to any other genre. Unfortunately, I was bored about 20% in and I finished it because 1. I hoped it'd get better 2. Works for a number of challenge.
Jenny returns to her small-town home after her divorce presumably to get over her divorce. A good girl with her father being a police officer, Jenny has never been a bad girl. The reason, her husband says why he cheated on her. Mick, a bad from the other side of the lake has come home secretly with a secret of his own. The two collide (literally) and how will their summer turn out?
From the onset,I couldn't really connect with the characters. I couldn't feel Jenny's pain over her husband or the divorce. Sue Ann her best friend felt like a cardboard cut off playing as her friend. Mick the hero is supposed to be hot and tortured. I can't vouch for the former but he certainly seemed to be the latter. Most of Mick's physical characters seemed to be derived from the two friends' conversation, definitely no show.
Since the father is a police officer, the book tried to deal with what is right, what is wrong and if there are shades I between. And also the value of judging people based on the past. The problem is that I've seen it being done far better and far more subtle that this seemed a little forced. The story wAs a lot predictable that I didn't really enjoy. A pity as i was expecting toenjoy and since everybody I knew raved about it

Week 7 ~ Blue:Latakia

I loved the plot and the suspense. It's hard to imagine all that Matt went through but I thought the author wrote these scenes wonderfully. I especially enjoyed all of the secondary characters. They were hilarious and loyal to Matt & Travis to a fault. Love.
I just didn't like Matt, especially in the beginning. Such a pushover. I liked him a little more in the end, but not much and when a story is told first person POV it's hard to ignore. I didn't like Travis much either, his nickname was fitting.
All in all, it was an enjoyable read, the secondary characters saved it for me.

Review: I loved it. I'm totally wishing it could've kept going. I need more!
I've really enjoyed getting to know these secondary characters from the VA series.
I'm totally in love with Sydney and Adrian. I feel like Adrian is finally growing up. I'm so proud. And Sydney... Who knew her original assignment would bring all this craziness crashing down around her. It's interesting to see how she deals with all of it.
Can't wait for

Anything but green... I agree!

Breann, I'll be reading the Agatha Christie book since it's shorter.

Work. This book took so much work to get through. It took me longer than it should have because I had to stop every 3 minutes or so to take a deep breath. I kept having to remind myself to breathe through the angst. Aaaaaannnnd that sounds a lot like labor. But, hey, that might work.
While reading I’m sobbing and cringing and so full of emotions that I’m thinking I’m NEVER picking up another Amy Lane book again. Then when it’s all over I’m sighing with giddiness thinking that I can’t wait to read more of Amy Lane! I don’t care about all the horrible angst, it was worth it. Yup, kinda like labor.
And THAT’S why I’m giving this 4 stars. After all Ms. Lane put me through, I’m still a fan and will do it all over again just to get that sweet, syrupy HEA I know she’ll deliver.

As I was reading this book, I couldn’t help feeling that Lauren Oliver doesn’t get enough love. For example, I thought Delirium was much better than Victoria Roth’s Divergent, but it didn’t seem to get nearly as much attention. I liked Pandemonium even better.
The third book in the Delirium trilogy alternates between Lena’s and Hana’s points of view. I thought Hana’s story was way more interesting and I found myself looking forward to her chapters. While Lena is out working with the Resistance, Hana is engaged to marry the new mayor, who has many secrets of his own. I liked this book…I really did…until…the ending. The ending was a big blob of disappointment for me! What is it with these YA dystopian trilogies and the endings? Mockingjay was…OK I guess. Reached was just plain boring and dull. This one…I just can’t explain it. I’ll have to see what everyone else thinks. I was going to give it 4 stars, but now just 3 ½ due to the ending.

Week 8: Red
Book: Succubus on Top by Richelle Mead
Date Finished: 3/20/13
Rating: 4 Stars
I enjoyed this book but I'm hesitant to keep on with the series since Dark Swan also started out well for me and then went completely off the rails at the end. That said, I did like this book. Georgina is a fun narrator and if I could see the "twist" coming with the super conservative lady from a mile away, it was still a nice ride to get there.
While I enjoy Georgina and her fellow lesser immortal friends, I don't really love her relationship with Seth. I don't dislike his character or anything. I just don't see how it would work for them. And that makes me not get attached, so I feel a little distanced from their relationship. I do love how the minions of hell are basically employees of a giant corporation, with middle management, promotions, demotions and Succubus of the Year awards. But believe me, I wish my giant corporation was that organized.
I'll read more in the series but I'm going slowly in case it all starts to go wrong again.

Review: Damn good book. I'm still in a daze after reading the book. The initial few chapters were slow going but once it started picking up, I couldn't put it down. Definitely continuing the series.
