Brittany | 106 comments I read this book awhile ago, possibly 1-3 years ago, I think it was fairly new then. It stood out to me because the format was unusual. It was either written like a journal, with scribbles and drawings throughout.. or it was about a girl and her journal and had whole pages of her journal in it.

I remember at one point one of the football guys calls her and her art friends Art Geeks or Art Nerds or something similar and they take it and make it their name that they call each other so it can't be used to mock them anymore.

Throughout the book she gets drawings in her locker and she thinks it's one of the football guys that is giving them to her. It turns out she is right, but it is not the football player she thinks.

There's a prank her and her friends pull where she draws silly illustrations of each player and replaces their picture in this newspaper article with her drawings instead.

I think maybe they were in middle school.

Maybe the Dork Diaries?

Brittany | 106 comments None of the plots in that series match up to what I remember, but the style is almost exactly what I was trying to describe. Thanks for the suggestion.

Brittany, are you still looking for this? Was it "Geek Chic: The Zoey Zone?"

Brittany | 106 comments I am still looking! It is, unfortunately, not Geek Chic

More info:
School Library Journal - Chronicling her experiences and emotions in her sketchbook/journal, Skye relies on her art as an outlet for her frustration and feelings of helplessness. Her life improves as she makes friends with other art students(view spoiler) Problems arise at school in the form of a few football players who tease and bully the art students. Skye's idea to get back at the jocks and the boys' subsequent revenge make up the climax of the novel.

Brittany | 106 comments oh my goodness, yes! that's it! Thank you so much
