Yes! Definitely! After book (can't remember), Cassandra Clare somehow starts to mention characters from the Infernal Devices. Since I can't remember what book 5 is, I don't want to spoil anyone's fun and say the couple of parts that I remember show up in The Mortal Instruments mentioning the Infernal Devices.

I would have to say yes. If you want to feel the experience to the maximum pick up the books according to their date release. At the end of the third book of the Immortal Instruments series at the end she starts mentioning characters from the Infernal Devises series. But in my opinion unfortunately the rest of the books Clare wrote don't compare with the first three.
