Windows changes their layout each time. It really makes trouble for me. I often have to walk users through operations on the phone & it's tough when things get changed around.

Yes, he is guiding me and changed a few things like bringing his Juno up from his basement computer and with that change and the new computer it worked for me. Finally, He is actually a computer expert so it was me who wasn't quite up to par with the changes. After retiring as an engineer he was a comuter science consultant for ten years. The University of CA at Berkley had him come to set up their computer programs among other clients. I am lucky to have a live in computer guru.

Today I watched the funeral services for Nancy Reagan. They were beautiful and all the beautiful people were there too.There was comedy-relief when Patti and Ron Reagan talked about their father and the masseuse. Nancy had quietly stepped in and kissed him and then left. He didn't realize it was Nancy. He told her he thought they shouldn't use that masseuse anymore. LOL
Did anyone catch the name of the tune which the bagpiper played at the end? One of the tunes was Amazing Grace but it was followed by another familiar tune which I couldn't place.
Joy, interesting that you were able to watch the funeral proceedings. I wish I had thought of it. There wasn't anything in our paper mentioning it being televised. And I have a correction; I thought I was using a new computer but what I am using is a different computer but not a new one but I am now updated. So be it. I could still have the new one but the format was difficult for me to see. And even when made larger it was just not user friendly for me. This new addition should work fine for now.
Nina, it's too bad you missed the funeral service for Nancy Reagan. It was truly special. Very well done. Maybe you can see some clips on the evening news. Good luck with your computer set-up. At this point our connection to the Internet is a big part of our lives. So it's important to have a user-friendly computer or tablet or notebook or whatever works for you!
I made Scrapple today & it didn't come out as expected. More jelly-like & almost white while I want more grain & a gray color. I can't buy scrapple here in KY. No one has heard of it (It's a very regional, PA German-Dutch thing.) so years of deprivation drove me to trying to make my own. It doesn't taste bad, but it's not scrapple. Maybe coating each piece in cornmeal before frying will help. Here's the recipe I used:Plain Old Pennsylvania Dutch Scrapple
• 1/2 pound chopped raw pork
• 1-1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1/8 teaspoon pepper
• 1 cup corn meal 1 medium onion, chopped
• 1- 1/4 quarts water
Brown onion slowly in a little fat. Add meat, seasoning and water. Cook at simmering point 20 minutes. Add corn meal and cook over medium heat for one hour. Turn into loaf pan and cool.

I get my moods. I'm not a very good cook, but I can generally follow a recipe. When I get creative, the results are usually awful, though. I really have no talent or interest in it.
Yes, Jim, I too lack interest in recipes. When I want to impress my visiting sons, I make French toast. LOLTo them that is just short of miraculous! :)
I took a half day at work today, came home & finished fencing the worst of the Star-of-Bethlehem areas so I can spray them. On the way home, I stopped & bought another charger since I didn't think the one in the goats' paddock was working & I needed it to run one of the spray areas. I checked the fence with my brand new tester (just a panel with some lights on it that shows roughly if enough charge is running through the fence or not) & saw nothing. I had just tested another area of fence on a different charger, so I knew the tester worked. Mom asked me if I'd actually grabbed the fence & I told her no. She agreed saying she hated getting shocked, too. It was a surprise when I put the other solar charger over the fence & got a shock in my wet arm pit! Not much of one, but it was definitely working! Oy! I replaced it anyway.
At least it wasn't one of the New Zealand chargers we used to use for the sheep field's predator-proof fence. That thing would knock your socks off. I hit it once with the bar of the weedeater which hit my thigh at the same time. My thigh ached for hours.
I'll see how it is for spraying tomorrow afternoon, but the wind has been a bit too much. Kind of comes & goes, which is not good. I'm taking all day Friday off. James will be here on Thursday night from RI. He's leaving Friday, but it will give us a bit more time together since I'm sure he won't be up if I left for work at my usual time of 4:30am. I have plenty of other chores to do. I'm making a list & it's LONG. Wonderful time of year!

I don't think I have eaten scrapple but definitely have heard of it. Seems like in Amish movies. Jim lots of hard outdoor work but it is the time of year that there's dirt under my fingernails and like you, I love it. Kansas City is a beautiful place at this time of year; street after street of blooming Bradford pear trees, magnolias, tulip trees, and all those other spring blossoms and did you know Kansas City has more fountains than any other place in the world outside of Rome? And along with the fountains are miles and miles of statuary. Come summer it's hot and dry and not so lovely so we enjoy our springs.
Nina, I can just imagine all the blossoms you describe! Beautiful! Reminds me of the picture I took at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Hyde Park, NY, when all the blossoms were in bloom. The water in the background is the Hudson River:

I remember it well because it was so beautiful! It's white exterior with the contrasting tan trim is so lovely. (That's my own description. Not sure the word "tan" is quite accurate but you get the idea.)

Joy, I was in Savanah much earlier than you but I, too, thought it was a lovely city; the fountains and squares and you took a great photo of that church. I don't remember seeing it. I remember the cotton exchange and the home of some RW hero's home and I have forgotten his name. But, I remember the wonderful sea crab soup we had there.

Good quote. Good to remember. Yesterday we had to do many errands and on the way back home my husband said, "You forget sometimes how nice people are." Everyone who waited on us had a smile. Thanks, Werner. My pictures are a way of reminiscing for me. Even though I haven't been a world traveler like Nina, I'm glad I was able to do the travelling I did.Much of the time we could have spent travelling was spent, instead, getting away from it all camping on the islands of Lake George. Werner, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for taking the time to view it. A few years ago I had a lot of enthusiasm for posting pictures online. Perhaps I should start a topic containing links to those pictures, all of which can be viewed as slideshows or as individual pics, one at a time.
I hate to see all my work going to waste. :)
An example is my trip to NYC in 2011 when we visited, among other things, the Wax Museum, Chelsea Market, and the NYC "Highline", a raised walkway created out of a past elevated train track path. At the Wax Museum there are likenesses of Hemingway, Leonard Bernstein, Dorothy Parker, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and many, many other celebrities. Here's the link:

Joy, thanks for the links; I enjoyed looking through those, too! I think a thread containing links to pictures like this is a wonderful idea. An advantage of digital pictures is that you can share them online with anyone who wants to see them, rather than hiding them away in a drawer or album; posting the links that way would make use of that advantage.The wax museum pictures reminded me of my several visits, back in the 80s and 90s, to the wax museum (and other attractions) at the Holiday World amusement park in Santa Claus, IN. ("Yes, Virginia, there IS a Santa Claus" --and it's a small town in southern Indiana. :-) ) Wax figures can be wonderfully lifelike, and quite entertaining. Unfortunately, though, I don't have photos to share from my experience.

About the Wax Museum, when my sister first suggested it, I thought it sounded dull. However, when we were there I found it to be lots of fun, especially posing for pictures next to certain ones. LOL My son who at first wouldn't pose for pics, finally ended up ASKING if I would take his picture next to the statue of Jimi Hendrix. All the statues are supposed to have the exact measurements of the real people. I was surprised to find out that so many of the people were very short.

Joy, enjoyed my tour. I think travel is fun no matter whether it's near or far. I probably wouldn't have been nearly as many places if my family hadn't been there. I have grandchildren born all over the world and a few in the states.
I no longer have that problem as I am now using a new computer and so far it's working better with goodreads if I can just get my brain accustomed to learning how to use it.

Joy, I was in Georgetown one afternoon going shopping with my sister in law and as we were walking down the street here came Arnold Sch...along side me carrying a blouse and he asked if I thought his mother would like it. We were just then passing a clothing shop. I asked him to unfold it and hold it up so I could get a better glance and told him I really did like it myself. So, he decided to keep it and he walked alongside me for a short while. As I said earlier I was amazed at how short he was/could have been five ft six but I doubt any taller and possibly he didn't have any built up shoes on at that time. I also remember well how "cool" he was dressed. It was summer and he had on a navy blue and white stripped seersucker blazer and navy slacks.
I took the day off work today & got to spend some more time with James, my oldest, who spent the night. Had a great time walking about the place discussing gardens & such. We had corn beef & cabbage with red potatoes for dinner last night & Marg even baked a German Chocolate cake for my birthday. She hasn't done that in years. Her birthday present was urging me to buy the 1/2" & 3/4" tap & die sets for wood that I've been wanting.I spent about 4 hours this afternoon finally spraying the dreaded the worst patches of Star of Bethlehem, a poisonous invasive that is taking over. A lot of work. I hope this horrible herbicide that I had to get licensed to use works as advertised. SoB laughs at RoundUp & 2,4-D. The stuff I used is called Gramoxome by Sygenta & is supposed to have a 98% kill rate, the highest of anything out there. It's got paraquat in it, so I had to take all kinds of precautions as it kills off animals via contact, too. The horses won't be getting into those areas of the field for at least a month.
Well, a horrible job that's done now, but I must be getting old. My neck & shoulders are sore from lugging the backpack sprayer around that whole time. It's only 40 lbs full. It was actually the second sprayer full that was the worst on my left shoulder for some reason. The last one didn't bother me at all.
Josh had a really good job interview today in Louisville. The best part is that if he gets this job, he might not have to have high speed Internet, so could buy the place south of us. That would be awesome.
Hope your birthday had some fun times and not all work, Jim. At least nice to have a good meal and spend time with your son. So happy birthday from a friend who wishes you many more.

Yes, Joy. It was Arnold S. we had a discussion. I can verify it with my sister in law as she was there as was my husband and hers. But he was walking beside me and talking. He finally took off and went into the clothing store.
