Prince Dorian DeHavilliard ~ Character Discussion

Dorian is such a great character. I love how he was afraid of making choices and taking a stand against his father and how that ultimately left him to losing love because of his faults. Its just so realistic. I love Aelin but lately all this idealism towards her and the whole "bow down to no one" stuff is just boring. Im really upset that we get less and less of Dorian each book. His story is just so compelling and empathizing.

I'm not really Team Dorian, but I love him as a character. We really just needed someone delicate and strong in this series, because... well, Dorian IS relatively more effeminate than Chaol or Rowan. He is such a cutie. Dorian and Celaena should be the best of friends for life.

I ship Dorian. I didn't (I was undecided) until Crown of Midnight. I'm reading The Assassin's Blade right now, and I'm not that into Sam because I'm thinking about Dorian and just itching to tear into Heir of Fire and see what this Rowan dude's all about.

Haha, I thought Dorian was a brat when I read the first book. Just wait for her to get through Crown of Midnight, and maybe Heir of Fire.

I think Rowan is just her true love, they aren't bonded. Didn't Rowan say that he's had only one mate? Could they figure out the mating bond later?

@Beela They are bonded in some way. Rowan states that plainly near the end of HoF, during the battle with the Valg. I don't know if that's a mating bond or if it has something to do with them being carranam.

Maas said that it is totally possible for someone to have a second mate. I think Sam was Aelin's first like Lyria with Rowan, but they can have a second. I would be cool having her end up with Dorian though

I love Dorian so much! I don't even care if Celeana ends up with him or not, I just think he's the best. I already liked him better than Chaol in ToG, but after CoM it became pure love, and now that I'm making my way through HoF I still like him so much <3 he's just so nice, cute, handsome and lovable, I think he would be an excelent king and I know he realices how terrible his father is, even if he doesn't stand against him yet. I saw in the comments that we get less Dorian in QoS, and I hope that's not true because I love reading about him.

I'm pretty sure the King's the genuine father just as Dorian is the genuine heir. Besides the latter inheriting his forefather's (Gavin) physiognomy, (view spoiler)[ near the end of QOS, the King confessed that he had used his blood in order to execute the "spell" thus exempting his "bloodline" from it.

And yeahh.. It never came off as convincing to me, the confession. But in an interview, SJM herself said that she "cried writing the scene" but I always thought it could've been executed better... (hide spoiler)]

I feel like Dorian is one of the characters that have developed most. Like, first he was stupid and dumb and a brat (sorry Dorian, but it's true) and then he, kind of grows up, if I am making any sense, and is very mature and finds out SPOILERS about his powers and then Sorcha, and then he is possessed kind of by a Valg, and when that is over he is a King and very serious and shit.
Also, I love ma' baby Dorian.
I never shipped Dorlaena, Celorian or whatever it's called. I was team Chaolena 4ever. But then Rowan arrived, and well, who doesn't ship Rowaelin? ;)

Idk but in Queen of Glass, the original draft of ToG, Dorian's name was Dorian DeHavilliard.

Oh, okay. In the books it's just Havilliard. I've never read Queen of Glass (although I'd love to) so I didn't know that.
