There are those books on our shelves or tucked away in our Nooks and Kindles that we always revisit when we need that tear-jerking, feel good read. What are the titles you always turn to when you need a reliable read that tugs at your heart everytime you turn the page?

Mine are The Story of O, Addicted, Sinful, and The Beauty Series.

Rosanna Leo (rosanna_leo) One of mine has become your book, Pauline! See Me by Pauline Allan
However, when I want sexiness and a quick read, I also love Maya Banks Colters' Woman- Gosh, it is steamy, not much plot, but that's okay when I feel like titillation!

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

I am with Rosanna - I love See Me, and Maya Banks Colters Woman. I also like the sequel, Colter's Lady. And truthfully - I re-read a lot of Maya Banks stuff.

Another fave is Blue-Eyed Devil by Lisa Kleypas - I'm a sucker for heroine in distress books. But this one has the perfect blend of the hero being all sexy/rescue-y and the heroine growing and finding her inner strength.

Another series I return to a lot is Karen Marie Monings Highlander series. And I'm not usually into "highlander" books, but I thought these were really well done.

I also like BDSM stuff, and find that there's a good amount of angst in Cherise Sinclair's and Tymbar Dalton's work. And angst will always bring me back to re-read. :)

Hi Meg! I read Colters' Lady too and enjoyed the sexy bits but found I liked the first generation of Colter men better (Ethan, Adam, Ryan- hubba hubba!). I also love those Moning Highlander books. They are so much fun and such an influence on what I write. Love Karen Marie's sense of humour!

Lynn Richards (lynnrichards) | 38 comments To show my age or not - I love Linda Howard's Mackenzie's Mountain - a plain, shy woman and a lone wolf - what's not to love. The other books in the series were good too, I'm disappointed she never wrote one of the Zane's little girl though - Linda if you're listening, it's not to late!!

I love Linda Howard's earlier work. I have hard time getting into her new books. A story on Zane's little girl would be nice.
I love "Dream Man" and "After the Night".

Yeah, I've never quite embraced the whole romantic suspense theme - only when it's the 2nd thing of the plot - romance always, always being #1

Which of Lora Leigh's books would you suggest? I've never read her, but her covers look very interesting.

Since you are familiar with the series - what anthology was the story with the neighbors in - he cuts her grass, he annoys her, etc - i can't remember and I can't find it in the books I have

Sandra | 56 comments Lately my go to book has been Breathe by Kristen Ashley. I love the part where she is walking at night to the playground. Makes my heart melt.
The other is also by Kristen Ashley, Rock Chick Regret. The opening of he book is so heartbreaking.
My classic that I haven't read in a long time but want to is Laveryl Spencer's The Endearment.

Oh my gosh Sandra! I'm going to look at those titles. I need a really angsy character driven curvy book to get started on!

message 19: by Hugh (new)

Hugh Smith (hughosmith) | 3 comments my go-to is not part of the genre represented in this group but it would have to be Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry. It won a Pulitzer and for good reason. As a writer, if you want to see dialogue at it's best you have to read this book. It also features characters who are doomed because of their inability to change and accept and acknowledge things like love and their own feelings. An amazing book.

I like that you go outside of this genre. I think when we read other genres it helps us to push the envelope in our own writing. I read a great deal of mental health memoires. I'm writing my own and, for personal reasons, it helps me to connect with others who are in my situation. Hugh, what other books outside of this genre do you enjoy?

I agree Pauline, reading other things can only make us better. American Gods by Neil Gaiman is another favorite of mine. He's got great character development, he's a master at getting the reader to fill in the blanks about a character. All the Jack Reacher books by Lee Child are also excellent. Those are great for teaching plotting and story development. Also, anything by Elmore Leonard. For realistic dialogue, no one is better than him.

Are you kidding me??? Hot in Here is one of my all time favorite curvy girl books! Did you know that Sophie Renwick...

Hot in Here by Sophie Renwick is also... Sinful (Addicted #2) by Charlotte Featherstone !!! Yup! Same author under different pen names.

message 32: by Terri (new)

Terri | 1 comments I'm new here and trying to get familiar with this site. One of my all time favorites and "read again" worthy book is "Wishes" by Linda Lael Miller. It features a curvy female character and a man who thinks she is just right! This is also a time travel book if you enjoy those. "A Knight In Shining Armor" is also by the same author and is terrific! Definitely two books I read again and again!

Michelle | 1 comments Hi everyone I'm new to this group. It's really nice to see others that love to read books featuring someone who is not a size 2.

My favorite go to book is The Masquerade by Brenda Joyce. I've read this book about 6 times. I just love it.

I that book and Sophie Renwick was hoping to write a sequel but her publisher didn't want her to:+( That too bad because the h had a curvy sister with a story that needed to be told.

namericanwordcat | 32 comments It is very cute. The writer doesn't dwell on her size but she isn't dainty. :)
