Vampires are nasty in this series..."Oh my gosh I HATED Murphy when I started reading the books. I was so infuriated with her inability to trust someone she considered a friend. Stick it out, Anna! She comes around and the books just get better.
The colours? The red black and white? I'm guessing they are vamps. I've just seen them as 'vamps' so far. I've not noticed a Thomas so I din't think so. (Just the barman, the skull, the journalist, Murphy, Bianca and a whole lot of people who get killed! Someone introduced Bianca, but my memory of them is hazy. The was a girl who Bianca 'eats' when she gets cross in her meeting with Dresden.)
It will get clearer when you get to like book 3 or 4 I think ... it's been a while.Enjoy the anticipation! Sometimes I wish I could erase a good series in my head so I could read it again and be totally surprised.
Hmmm sometimes that sounds nice, and other times I love re-reading a book. Knowing what's going to happen next lets me focus on the details.
That's true Claire. And I always find out something I missed, even in series I reread more than 5 times (Harry Potter, Hollows)
I feel that's always the sign of a good book.Got a notification from the library yippee! Hoping its book 3 not book 4...
Liking #3 at the moment - Grave Peril, more action so far and a few new characters...Michael (or at least I can't remember him from earlier books), new cops and the Vampire siblings. Trying not to get attached to the cops as they all seem to die at the end of the books. I'm reminded of Terry Pratchet and 'Guards, Guards!'
An excerpt of the short story "Bombshells" featuring Molly that will be in the anthology

And a review of the short story (not spoilery): http://www.tor.com/blogs/2013/07/stor...
I really want Ramirez to show up... I think him and Molly could have a thing (and then she wouldn't be an option for harry anymore. that's my wish) LOL. But it looks good. I wonder if it's Molly who comes up with the threesome idea... rofl!
Meeeeeep poor Molly. She completely went off the deep end.My question for you guys is: (spoiler for Cold Days) (view spoiler)
Zeenat wrote: "Claire's question [spoilers removed]"I think that was one reason I really didn't like Cold Days. (view spoiler)
Zeenat wrote: "As long as him and molly don't get together... lol. I really don't want them together!"Me either!
Anna wrote: "Just read Blood Ties and loved it. Thought it was the best so far by far."You meant Blood rites? It's one of my favorites too! I love Thomas :)
I really hope that by the end of the series JB manages to give Thomas some semblance of a happy ending. Lord knows he's been through enough.
http://www.jim-butcher.com/posts/2013...JB at WyrdCon. Haven't watched it yet, but let me know if there is any juicy Dresden Files news ;)

Ha ha, thanks Zeenat.
Just read Dead Beat. I didn't find it as strong as Blood Rites- I felt there were too many episodes, just to ensure he had covered all bases. It is a bit formulaic -I didn't have the stay up all night to finish compulsion. However reading 2-3 chapters a night was incredibly relaxing!
Not much Thomas though, I kind of hope he has a good feed and bounces back to his normal self, *sigh*. He's being a bit depressive in this one!
See a lot of people LOVE Dead beat, but I think it's just cause of Sue lol I preferred Blood Rites too.
I <3 her, and the jurrasic park references. It is a fav book/movie for me. Should have had some raptors though. On a sidenote . he is being a freakin tease on twitter....
1) He said Skin Game is 15 out of 23 books, looks like he's still aiming for 20 + epic trilogy. He also confirmed the last three books will be called: Stars and Stones, Hell's Bells, Empty Night2) He mentioned there are more than the 3 main vampire courts, and the jade court, which was mentioned before. But the way he talked about it made it seem like the jade court is coming up again.
3) He hinted at the fact that there may be a spin off to DF, with Maggie as the lead? ;)
He just keeps RT'ing tweets over and over....It is like that thing you do to annoy people ...they say something and you do it right after etc etc till they try to hit you. Oh, wait, that is just me and my sisters.
Yes, my family )re: my mom and sister) like to smack me sometimes. Not like a haymaker or a karate chop, but like hitting me with papers or my sister's freaking pillow right in the face.
In the Dresden Files group I started a reread of the books, in case anyone wants to join in. https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...In order to fit in all the books, we kinda have to start tomorrow and read a book a week. Sheesh! But here is the schedule:
Storm Front 2/18 to 2/24
Fool Moon 2/25 to 3/3
Grave Peril 3/4 to 3/10
Summer Knight 3/11 to 3/17
Death Masks 3/18 to 3/24
Blood Rites 3/25 to 3/31
Dead Beat 4/1 to 4/7
Proven Guilty 4/8 to 4/14
White Night 4/15 to 4/21
Small Favor 4/22 to 4/28
Turn Coat 4/29 to 5/5
Changes 5/6 to 5/12
Ghost Story 5/13 to 5/19
Cold Days 5/20 to 5/26
Skin Game comes out 5/27
*Twitches* I always fail @ keeping pace with re reads . I can't help to go faster. Gonna keep track of the thread though--you always seem to catch the crap I miss.
LOL I do too Llaph! On my reread of The Hollows, I was doing it with Kim Harrison and group, and as soon as I got to Black Magic Sanction, whizzed through the last 3 books. It was inevitable.
For you Dresden Files fans, Jim Butcher has just done a Reddit AMA.http://www.reddit.com/r/books/comment...
omg I had no idea there was a new df on the way!!.*shame on me* now I gotta re read the series 'cause I can't remember squat! XD
Leodora, you are not alone in needing to do a re-read. At the rate I'm going, I should be ready for Butcher's latest sometime in August!
thank god Kathy I'm not alone! ...and I just realized a friend of mine has my copy of stormfront. Dammit.
I think it is still going, the 1st 6 or 7 DF books are on sale @ amazon for $1.99.... I could be remembering wrong though!
I'm excited for Skin Game because from the snippets I've read, I like this plotline a lot. I won't say anything else about it though, to avoid spoiling you guys :pI honestly didn't like books 13 & 14 that much. So I'm hoping that the rest of Skin Game keeps on being awesome.
SOOOOO I fell off the earth when this book came out... LOL but I did read it!!! What did everyone think!?!?Harry's love life (view spoiler)
Molly (view spoiler)
the heist (view spoiler)
How cute is it that (view spoiler)
I felt like the book was a wrap up from all the "damages" from Changes. Like Harry coming to terms with being the winter knight and his relationship with his friends/family.
Maggie (view spoiler)
My take on it all is this: Harry's love life (view spoiler)
Molly (view spoiler)
The Heist (view spoiler)
Butters (view spoiler)
Maggie (view spoiler)
So that's my take on where the Dresden Files stands right now. I wish I had known you (Zeenat) were doing a reread prior to the book coming out; work is killing me and it seems I have no time for anything - I haven't been on this site in ages. I did reread the series prior to the book coming out, but it's alway better to be part of something than on your own.
I'm going to reread this book as soon as I finish the new Waker Paper's novel that came out Tuesday. It's the big finale to the Walker Papers, and I waited a long time for it to come out.
Be happy.
@Zeenat:I can only say that I loved this book. I agree with most of what you said Zeenat, but I just chose not to think on things too much. If that makes sense? lol
@DC:
I can't wait for that book to finally come out, it kept getting pushed and pushed back. The few things I let myself read said that there are gonna be some not so happy stuff happening and someone dying. I am doubly avoiding spoilers--won't ruin a series for me like when I accidentally read a spoiler for A Shiver of Light and just refuse to read it for now. Since she killed off one of my favorite characters....
Duane, I planned on doing a big reread, but I got busy and never got a chance to do it with the group, kinda breezed through my own reread. Harry's love life (view spoiler)
Butters (view spoiler)
