Jim Butcher loves his foreshadowing... Catching them now that I'm rereading. Like in Grave Peril there is foreshadowing for End of Ghost Story and Cold Days (view spoiler)[ In grave peril, Bob and Harry discuss how a person can make a ghost inside of them... Regarding Susan and what happened in Grave Peril, for the longest time I blamed harry. Well not BLAME, just that he should have talked to her. But in rereading Grave Peril (view spoiler)[ she really did kind of bring it on herself. She showed up someplace she shouldn't have and wouldn't leave when told. She made a bargain with Lea. I mean... She should have stayed out of it. Not saying it's not tragic. It's really neither of their faults that Bianca is a bitch. (hide spoiler)] But if Susan just played it smarter...

I never blamed Harry, though I knew he would blame himself. She decided to go anyway. If he hadn't been there to fall into Bianca's trap, Susan probably would have been discovered and changed/killed as a strike against Harry, anyway (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I think it is mostly because I distrust reportors and it always seemed to me that she was just out to get her story no matter what ... when she showed up and acted like she knew what to do just in case. I just felt sorry for Harry that he picked someone like that. I just don't get people most of the time.

It is annoying to have to go word by word sometime to view spoilers. :P I am just whining because the new screen reader I am using doesn't treat the view spoiler links as actual links.

I actually felt like that in the beginning, too. I think it was a bit of both for her. I started to like her more because she seemed to truly care for Harry. She just didn't let it stop her from going after a story through him.

The thing with Susan is, that even as a reporter, I felt like she respected boundaries. Like if Harry said off the record, it was off the record. And that Chemistry.... whew. but yeah, she brought her own trouble to her own door.

I liked her in the beginning, but what happened in the last few books, I stopped liking her, no matter what her reasoning was.

He lost his .38 in Faerie when he was fighting at the end of Summer Knight. So the next time he got a gun, it was the .44.

Oh. I thought I read that later. I think someone actually brings him his gun back at the end of Summer Knight because he did drop it in that battle. I think he lost the .38 in some case that wasn't in one of the books.

As in Harry hurt him, I think I might have messed the names up. I was going through my books looking to find the scene, but my sister came to whine at me and distracted me.
I am pretty sure one of the first times Harry sees sharkface is at Mac's and ... he comes in after saying Harry should come out ... or something like that ... my brain fails atm remembering which book. That is dumb because it is one of those things where it is hovering and you just can't grab it.
It is Outsiders not Others ... stupid O words.

Which didn't make any sense. Outsiders were all but immune to magic. It took power garnered only from centuries of study and practice, wielded by the most powerful wizards on the planet, even to slow them down.

What? Since when? The only serious victory I'd had over a spiritual entity when I was that young had been when my old master had sent an assassin demon after me. It hadn't turned out the way DuMorne had been hoping.

I can't find what I was looking for, I am probably searching for the wrong word ... skimming with a screen reader is a pita so I give up.
Only time a word search for shark gets what I want is if I go through Cold Days and I know it is before that.

Just finished Grave Peril. I was unprepared for how deranged Bianca is. But, I feel like I skipped a book somehow with the intro of Michael.

Is Grave Peril book 3?

Yes. People are sometimes introduced haphazardly. But he's known Michael for awhile I think

There are a few things that make you (or it did to me at least) think you might have missed something. Normally that would get my OCD about finding out everything-I-might-have-missed sense tingling, but it was not so bad and I got into it anyway. I did have the same reservation when I started Grave Peril ... totally thought I missed something ... till I looked it up and others said the same thing.
You might find other thihngs like that through out the series, that or I am just a crack head and imagined things.

I think she figured it out and/or kincaid told her. So she ended things with kincaid and was just biding her time till he came home. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[The only thing I can think of with regards to a parasite is Lasciel. But she's supposed to be truly gone, right? I can't remember any other time something got into Harry's head other than the time Mab messed around in there and made him forget about his blasting rod. But I remember he started having the headaches not long after Lasciel took that psychic bullet for him. Did something happen then? Is that where the parasite came from?

I am so confused on that starborn thing. It obviously doesn't apply to every wizard, but Harry can't possibly be the first. All I know is there have been so many instances where Harry was only half conscious and someone referred to "what he was created to be" or something like that. There seems to be even more to Harry than what we've already discovered. I keep wondering if it's related to Merlin in some way.

I wish Murphy wouldn't be so hesitant. I understand her fears with regards to her relationship and to Harry in general. Harry can be damned scary (I love that about him, though) and Murphy isn't exactly a relationship guru herself. What she said about him not being able to come out of it if she hurt him is true. When Harry gives himself, he's all in 100%. He doesn't do well with heartbreak.

I feel like I should have seen what was coming with Molly coming. She had been spending so much time with Lea. No way it was just to make sure she survived. That was part of it since Mab knew she needed a back up when she got rid of Maeve. What I really want to know if what Mab said to Harry about how he treated Molly's apprenticeship is true. Did he really go out of his way to isolate her from others and make her dependent on him? I can't think of anything he could have done differently for there to have been a better outcome for her. I also want to know if she'll get crazier and start acting like Maeve. Harry can advise her in the ways of Winter and all, but now, Molly will have some power over him...

Murphy never asked Harry where he was when he died. He told her that he was in a coma, but I don't remember him saying he was on Demonreach. I think only Thomas and Molly know that. I do wonder if Kincaid told her what he did and that's why she ended it, or if she ended it because of the way she feels about Harry. I wouldn't be surprised if she figured it out, though. Murphy isn't stupid. She probably didn't know that Harry asked Kincaid to do it, though. If she did, she didn't react to that at all. Which I thought was just plain weird. (hide spoiler)]

I felt exactly the same way about Lea and Molly! Why didn't I see that coming? I felt so damned stupid when Harry realized that Molly could be a vessel for the next Winter Lady and started trying to talk Maeve out of getting herself killed.

I'm leaning towards disagreeing about what Mab said about that, too. Harry has a dark side and it can get pretty damn bad, but I just don't think he's that far gone to have been treating her the way Mab described for all of these years. (hide spoiler)]
