I recently attended an event where Helena Andrews interviewed Janet Mock about Janet's book Redefining Realness: My Path to Womanhood, Identity, Love & So Much More (which I think is a 5 star read by the way). I loved Helena's personality and that landed Bitch Is the New Black: A Memoir on my reading list.
I think Purple Hibiscus traumatized me. I still have flashbacks to that book, specific scenes and I'm bothered by that.
Three more of the books that you have here I've already marked to-read and because this is clearly an awesome list, I'm going to look at the remaining books now.
