It really touched me and I think Amelie is trying to teach us a lesson somehow or another ....or is it just my imagination? hahaha

Very good book! I felt as if I was transported to Africa and then really wanted to go help. I hope we will see another book that continues IAN and Sofia Story.

I loved this book! When I first started reading it I will admit I was a little concerned that it was going to follow that theme the whole way through and I was a little disappointed. Wow, was I ever surprised. It was a very emotional journey. I loved watching her relationship grow with Ian as well her friendship with Spencer.
As far as the over embellishments as to the violence in that part of Africa, it is very real in Uganda. At one time we supported a minister who came to the states from Uganda for a month every year and the stories he told us were horrific.

A must read! Definitely an underlying lesson to be learned there!

I loved how my opinion changed in this book. I hated Sophie, like I thought she was dumb and ignorant and I wondered why anyone would write a main character like that; I almost stopped reading. I've never had such a 360 on a character; I loved her by the end, I cried with her and I wanted to help her. A brilliant standalone. Couldn't ask for more.

I loved this book on so many different levels. My only critique is the with the ending. It felt a little rushed from the time she gets back to LA to the end. I still give it 5 stars and will be recommending it.

Mallory ~*Smut Pusher*~ Definitely agree about the ending. I felt like it was rushed. I think the writer could have fleshed-out some of the details. Or perhaps, I just didn't ...more

Shannon The Co-Captain I read somewhere that she is doing another book for Spencer. I'm hoping she will maybe tie up loose ends left in this book. I'm like you though, I did ...more

I loved it. I added it as a favorite. I couldn't put it down. I hope she writes a book 2.

This was one of those books that goes in a direction you didnt see coming. I finished it in 2 days time and was left speechless because it was just so good. It's honestly one of those books that has you thinking for days, weeks, months afterwards. She did an interview and is planning on turning this book into a series based on the 7 deadly sins! That's pretty exciting!!

Loved this book! I'm so emotionally drained after I read it. I'm so, so glad I found it here and added it to my favorites. Won't forget this one :)

(I really got kind of depress for Spence. He's such a nice guy. The moment when said, "I'll wait for you", I sob hard. Can't contain my feelings)

I just wish the author showed the readers more about Soph's parents *coughs* transformation because after what they did to her, I think they kind of need to have an exposure for their side. Lol.

Anyway, am I the only one who prefer Ian over Dingane???? Haha! I still can't pronounce it right. Poor me. xx

This book touched my soul. It's the best YA book I've ever read. I think everyone should be given the chance to read this.

One of my FAVOURITE novels!

Definitely loved this book! I loved that the main character was different than the typical "innocent/virginal/doesn't realize her own beauty" type of girl. Although she was a very ugly person up front, I was happy to see her grow and realize that there are more important things outside her elite world. Definitely did not see the story line going in the direction it did which was a great surprise. I also liked the fact that the romance b/t two of the characters was not the entire focus of the book. The romance was done in a respectable and decent manner unlike many of the YA books out there right now. I absolutely loved this book and have already recommended it to many of my friends. Wish the story didn't have to end. Kudos to the writer!

I am in the minority. The synopsis did not point in what direction the book would go which is fine but for me I could easily put it down.

did not like this book at all. disappointed. extremely.

This book was so unexpected, it was a fantastic read!

Loved this book. It was very well written and I am looking forward to the next book Greed.

I loved this book. I have had this book in my Kindle for the past year. Not sure why it took me so long to read it. It was great.

It was a beautiful read, absolutely perfect. When I first started reading, I was really disappointed, but the more I got into it, the more I went on this emotional journey with her as she learned her life lessons that drastically changed her life. So beautiful.

i loved this book
at first I didn't really like Sofia, since she was really mean and...vain :)
but as the story went on I fell in love with her character
i've read the next book in this series Greed The Seven Deadly 2 too
I'm waiting on the next book of the series

I have a huge crush on Ian! My major complain about this book, is that it is 5+ stars until the 90% mark and then just ends way too quickly, too rushed. We needed another chapter minimum and way more explanation at the end. I'm still trying to figure out Ian's behavior in LA. Why leave so quickly just to show up later? Was Spencer's presence confusing for him? Two quick lines could've explained it. Also we were cheated out of her reunion with Mandisa and Charles. I wanted to see that. So good for 90% then so disappointed in the ending.

I loved this book. I was so surprised at the turn of events. I thought I was reading a book similar to the movie, "Less than Zero" and then it just takes this turn. I liked that I was surprised though.

Found this book very hard to get into at the beginning then couldnt put it down. Loved the book and the characters :)

Sophie was not at all likable for the first part of the book but she grew on me. I liked the story a lot and Ian was great!

Loved this book and made me think that sometimes my way of thinking was just so shallow. I really decided (and acted upon) that I would at least attempt once a month to give to a charity that would benefit greatly from money ( as I have no time to give at the moment). I assume this was the core of book to get people to think out of their comfort zones and possibly get people to help the world around them more. =) Just a great book all around.

I loved this book! Very powerful and passionate. I like books where you see a real girl who gets redeemed and not just this picture perfect heroine. It was a beautiful story!

This book went a total opposite direction of where I thought it was going. Sophie turned out to be a great character. I loved this book and have recommended it to everyone I know who reads!

Loved this one. I didn't expect it to turn out the way it did and i love that about it! It's always nice when a book does exactly the opposite of what i predict!

This book ended up being something entirely different than what I expected. I loved it. I started out thinking - she sure is exposing her true feelings early on to all of us...then thought for sure Spencer would be our love interest upon her return...but oh, Ian. I cried my eyes out during this book. I could not help picture every movie I had ever seen about this region and while reading the book, those images were playing on loop in my imagination. It was so much beyond what I imagined it being.

I thought this book was great. I read it in one sitting as I couldn't not put it down. However I am confused as to why his mom changed her mind all of the sudden and told him what she had said/done.. Did I miss something?

A must read!! Loved it and is now a favorite!
Will definitely be looking forward to reading more from Fisher Amelie.

I thought this was an amazing book. It certainly makes you appreciate the simple things in life like hot water and vaccinations. But I was so surprised by the honesty of the characters the ENTIRE book. When she said, "She felt loved." she felt it. And you knew it. When she said she was embarrassed or any other feeling that she was feeling...it was like a baby learning to walk. It was so breathtakingly honest and beautiful! I LOVED IT! I also wished that I could have sat down on the couch and read it from cover to cover without interruption! But I had to work too.

BRILLIANT! LOVED IT! Recommended it to everyone I talked to!

It was a wonderful book, I found it on one of the Goodreads popular lists and I bought it immediately. I would have read it all in one sitting if not for work.

Dingane is just awesome and sweet, isn't he? And so was Spencer. I hope Spencer will get his own story.

I live in Nigeria though, which is in Africa, and I'm pretty sure the Author exaggerated in her descriptions of violence and horror. If Sophie Price came to stay in Lagos, where I live, for six months, she'd probably return to the US more spoiled than when she left.

I completely agree. It was definitely a rude awakening. I loved this book! It was brilliant
