Liana Goode (liana_goode) | 21 comments Hey everyone, another free book for you: In His Hands by Phil Locascio. Thought-provoking fantasy fiction. http://amzn.to/ZEsdgm
I would say it is a thriller as well as fantasy, it had me gripped from start to finsh, definitely worth a read whilst its free (till sunday)
To get you interested here's the blurb:
The year is 1928.

Demetri Davos discovers a mysterious crystal ball that has the power to grant him anything he asks.

But power always comes with a price.

And after two selfish requests result in the death of innocent people, Demetri resolves never to use the globe again.

When the Nazis begin their march across France, though, the desperate half Jewish Demetri is forced into a life-or-death decision - and has to break his vow to make his escape.

Years later in Chicago, he is rich and happily married – but a vengeful nemesis, aware of the globe’s power, now wants what he’s owed.

He’ll stop at nothing to get it.

With his family in peril, Demetri is forced to pay for his past … and for wishes granted … time after time … after time …

From Europe to America, across the years, Phil Locascio’s ‘In His Hands’ traces one good man’s struggle to combat his own inadequacies and resist overwhelming temptation in a deadly moral tug of war.

'A fantastical, thought-provoking page turner.' - Robert Foster, best-selling author of The Lunar Code.

Angela (angelaxx) | 4 comments Im currently reading Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles, #1) by Kami Garcia . I really like the story but it's kind of slow paced so it is taking me a lot longer than most books.

message 1408: by Iris (new)

Iris | 27 comments Currently reading Let's Pretend this Never Happened, and I love it! I find it hilarious even though she overdoes the rambling thing sometimes.

I wouldn't recommend it to anyone offended by things like vaginas. Or anything, really. Otherwise, read it!!!!

I would honestly recommend not bothering to finish it. The end is inconclusive, even for a series. 500 pages then you get the end and want to hurl the book across the room. It's like reading the last Harry Potter book then not having it finish with a fight scene.

message 1410: by Blair (new)

Blair (ohheyblair) Hi. I am currently reading Carrie by Stephen King. I recommend The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken. It's really good! Also, recommendations from others would be much appreciated!

I love the novel and the other three books. Although all the moons make the story kinda boring i still think its worth my time! :)

message 1413: by Deanna (new)

Deanna | 2 comments I just finished Foundling, Lamplighter & Factotum by D.M.Cornish. They are an extremely exciting series of a strange land of people who are trying to survive the monster attacks, monster hunters, and a variety of strange monsters. In the midst of all this is a boy, an orphan, who has strange feelings for the monsters, but does not want to be labeled as a monster lover and become an outcast. In his journey of thru trying to find his true self meaning and understanding why he is different. He befriends a Monster hunter; they travel a very exciting path together. Another is a man who is deemed crazy, but is he really; or does he have a mystery that is truth. The reading is exciting and I could not wait to see what the next book held.

Thanks Kristie! I'll look for that one

message 1418: by Linds (new)

Linds I just finished Written in Red by Anne Bishop. I don't know what it was about the book--possibly Bishop's development of the characters--but I loved this book. Other Anne Bishop books that are great are the Black Jewel Series that jumps to other characters and stories set in the same land. The later books are a bit better, and less dark, than the earlier ones.

Stacy okun (stacyo40) | 111 comments So I just finished "knight" by Krisitn Ashley. I have to say i was disappointed. There was A LOT of Sex and A LOT of unneeded cursing. I'm no prude, I enjoyed the 50shades series, but i felt the cursing was a bit much. i kept waiting for something to really happen, like a twist or a shocker, but nothing. Oh Well. i also bout the other 3 in the "series". Not sure, i may skip them. good thing they were cheap.

Christine (MissWinterly) | 18 comments Just ordered Legend and Graceling and I can't wait! What should I read first? XD

message 1427: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) I just finished The Sweet Gum Tree by Katherine Allred and was blown away by this book. I am still reeling emotionally. The synopsis tells you all you need to know to decide if you want to read it. The book reminded me that the ones we care about the most - family, best friends, and true loves - are the ones who can hurt us the most. Life is about hard choices, love, forgiveness, and redemption. Life plans often go awry. How you deal with it is up to you. I will definitely reread this book.

I read the lastest book just a few weeks ago and I was so enjoying it and then I looked at the percentage left on my Kindle and I just about broke down and cried lol. I was so into it I thought it would go on forever and ever. It was really good.

Twilight was -decent- but even if you're not a crazy fan of it, like me, you'll still love The Host. <3

message 1444: by Tui (new)

Tui Allen (tuibird) | 10 comments I like animal stories. Anyone else like them? My all time favourite animal story is actually a YA or even could be called a children's book. But it is a children's novel. It's called, "Stranger at Green Knowe" and is by L M Boston. It's about 2 living beings who share similar experiences. One is a small Asian boy and the other is an African gorilla. The setting is England, where both wind up.
Trouble is there is no e-book. You'd have to go and get it from your library. I've read it over and over again and will never forget it. The Green Knowe books (a series) are all wonderful but this took them to a whole new level.

Vardan Partamyan (vardanpartamyan) | 186 comments I would like to recommend my post-apocalyptic novel The After/Life which is currenlty rated 5 stars on Amazon, based on 8 ratings, has been added to 70 to-read shelves and has a Goodreads rating of 4.60 based on 10 ratings and reviews. All the proceeds from the novel are being donated to charity.

message 1447: by Jordan (new)

Jordan | 3 comments I would definitely recommend Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand for a more heady, in depth read. Great novel about morality, individuality, and society. For something less philosophical, The Walls of Jericho by Paul Wellman is a great story about politics, love, and life in a small town during the early years of America.
