It's pretty good and interesting to read! Cassandra Clare is a very skilled author (just don't read Clockwork Princess), but I admittedly, one of my favorite things about the series are two of the couples: (view spoiler)[ Magnus+Alec, and Maia+Kyle (hide spoiler)]

If you liked The Book Thief you might try . It's set in recent times but it's about a father and son and their relationship. The father is in his 80s and the son wants to write down his mother and father's story of being a Jew in Nazi Germany. It's really good. It is very different though in that it is done in a comic/graphic novel style.

I just finished reading Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt, it was amazing, and extremely depressing (one of the most depressing books I've ever read). But I just couldn't stop reading it! I just sinked into the author's own tale whenever I flipped to a page! Strongly recommending this memoir!!!
I'm currently reading Going Solo by Roald Dahl, it is a great book about his interesting young adventure.

I just finished reading , which is about a boy in Tudor England whose father was arrested for treason. (That is, for practicing Catholicism after Henry VIII established his own church.) The book was interesting and gave a good feel for what life was like during that time.

The Hunger Games is a great book. I just saw the movie again and am thinking of rereading the book too.

I'm currently reading book 3 City of Glass. There's just something about the world building in this series. It's sucks you in. The change in points of view between characters is well done. Nice element of mystery, diverse cast of characters. It's a good read!

I have just finished Lover Eternal, Black Dagger Brotherhood bk. 2 by J.R. Ward. I am loving this series of books. I can't put them down when I pick them up! It's about vampires but it's more of a love story than anything else. It's good. I recommend any of them. You don't necessarily have to start with number one either. They are all their own separate books with the same characters.

I really enjoyed the last book alot. Johnson kept me wondering how Patrick being hanged was tied to some of the other characters.

I don't think I've ever read anything by Dennis Lehane, so I can't help you out. However, Moonlight Mile looks really good. I may have to check out the series!

Iranian-American author Azar Nafisi's memoir Reading Lolita in Tehran

Her memoir chronicling her life in Iran before, during and after Khomeini's rule which flung the very modern Iran at least a century back, transforming a westernized (yes!!) progressive nation into a medieval patriarchal land. She talks about her mute yet significant rebellion both at the Tehran University where she taught English literature along with her secret literature classes then banned in Iran. Talks about her female students in those literary classes at home, of their changed lives, about the classic literary books like Lolita banned by the govt. which they discussed secretly in their class and how it affected them. And most of all, her heartbreak at seeing her beloved Iran being destroyed by a mad man's whims.
