I am borrowing the idea for January's group challenge from Vicky over at Books, Biscuits, and Tea. She had this for a mini-challenge during December's Magnificently Magic Read-A-Thon, which was hosted by Faye over at A Daydreamer's Thoughts.

So here is the challenge: Book Spine Poetry.

Yep, you heard it. What you need to do is make a poem out of book titles. Here is my example that I used for the read-a-thon:

Photobucket

Choosing to see
Things that are
Changeless
Eclipse
Things not seen

So, go get your books, make some Book Spine Poetry, and share!

To be entered into the contest:
1 entry for making a poem out of book titles you own - or use books from here on your GR shelves if you do not actually own any physical books

1 entry for actually posting a picture!

If you have never posted pictures on here, Photobucket is what I use and it makes it really easy. Sign up for a free Photobucket account, upload your photo, and it automatically creates an HTML code which you can copy and paste directly into the comment box. Super easy.

I will draw a name randomly from all the entries on January 31. Winner will get a $10 gift card from either Amazon or B&N, so make sure you can use one of those sites!

Thanks for playing!

this sounds like fun!!

Amy (DemonKittie) (demonkittie) | 502 comments Random question. Is it possible to get two entries or one? You said one entry for a photo and one entry for just a poem. Can you do both and have them be different poems?

message 5: by Sheri, Bookworm (new)

Sheri | 13547 comments Mod
You can do more than one poem if you'd like but will only get entered into the drawing twice - once for putting together a poem and once for a picture.

Amy (DemonKittie) (demonkittie) | 502 comments Alright. Thanks!

message 9: by Cori Renn (new)

Cori Renn | 18 comments I really liked this idea. Here is my poem!

The last battle,
Running loose.
The lost world,
Out of the dust.
Forgotten God,
Foreign to familiar,
Beautiful.

Hunger,
Forbidden doors,
Fallen angels,
One sacred effort,
Atonement,
Forever.

Awesome Cori!

message 11: by Lys (new)

Lys (lysrowan) I did it based on things I read in January, so it isn't epic, but it's okay. :)

Such a Pretty Girl
living in the dark
Winter masques
at graves end:
Apocalypse.

Such a Pretty Girl by Laura Wiess Living in the Dark (Darkness Through the Light, #1) by Rebekah Campbell Winter Masques (Changeling The Lost) by Dawn Elliott At Grave's End (Night Huntress, #3) by Jeaniene Frost Apocalypse Time Of Judgement (Werewolf) by Chris Bowen

I might add one later made from books I own.

That's awesome! I used to but decided to get rid of most of my physical books a few years ago just for space purposes. Any I want to re-read (again) I can get from the library :)

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

I did get rid if some books but I can't get rid if my Stephen king ones because my dad got them all for me, every single one. He would go into old bookstores to find them even while he was away for work, so I am never getting rid of them. :) dorky I know!

Amy (DemonKittie) (demonkittie) | 502 comments Delmy wrote: "I did get rid if some books but I can't get rid if my Stephen king ones because my dad got them all for me, every single one. He would go into old bookstores to find them even while he was away for..."

That is not dorky at all. I have a Stephen King collection started by my mother, added to by my father who passed away and I am adding to it now. If I have my way my children will inherit the collection. There is nothing wrong wit that at ALL.

message 37: by Intisar (new)

Intisar Khanani (intisar_khanani) You all are making me wish my parents were in to Stephen King. My only memory of Stephen King was my brother bugging my mom to let him read one (after he saw her reading Carrie, I think). She finally capitulated and let him read one he chose from the library. He chose "It." He was eleven or so. He had nightmares for weeks. Yeah. I didn't read any Stephen King until the Green Mile came out, that's how well I remember the nightmares he had... :P
