Fantasy spider magic demons bound to rings and a bound demon falling in love /s

I hope someone here has heard of this book.

There were different schools of magic like controlling spiders and binding demons to rings. The main character was male and raised by the woman who controlled spiders.

Before the start of the book there was a bound demon that fell in love with a sorceress that he was sent to subdue. He impregnated her (with the sperm of the one who bound him) and the story deals with the son (as the main character) searching out the demon binder since he is his father.

I believe he gets apprenticed to the demon binder and meets the demon who had a hand in his conception there, though he doesn't realise that until the end.

I think I remember a later book too that dealt with the main character searching for his heart's desire.

I think I read this way back in 2005, but the book itself is potentially a fair bit older.
