Hello, all! This looks like a cool hangout. I'm a big fan of all genres, but especially historical fiction, mystery, romance, young adult, political thrillers, and literary fiction.
Looking forward to chatting with you all! ;)
Hi, I'm Phebe. Thanks for letting me join Constant Reader! I am retired and now I can read all I want and my goal is 200 books in 2013, 100 fiction and 100 nonfiction. I am ahead in fiction, scraping by in nonfiction, so far. I like all traditional genres (that means the new romance vampires and werewolves and zombies are a Bridge Too Far)and all media: ebooks, codices, and audio. A person can get a whole lot of books "read" gardening and doing housework with earphones....

Hello! I have been an avid and omnivorous reader all my life. In grade-school I developed a passion for science fiction and fantasy which has remained with me ever since. I enjoy all sorts of literature, including the classics. Jane Austen is a particular favourite of mine.
Emily Dickinson, W. B. Yeats, Milton, G.M. Hopkins, and Christina Rossetti are some of the poets for whom I have a special fondness.
Hi, everyone! My name is Otessa, and I am a filmmaker and writer, living in DC. I have fond memories of growing up in DC's '90s grunge era -- anyone else?! -- so much so that it served as inspiration for my web series, "Orange Juice in Bishop's Garden." I'm excited to explore this group!!
Cheers,
Otessa
Oh, and I missed Phebe, Richard and Otessa. I'm traveling, so haven't been here very often. Welcome to you all.

I missed everyone too! A warm welcome to everyone and please join in on the discussions!Tatania, I'm really going to be interested to see what you think of the books on this year's Man Booker longlist. There are a number that I want to read and wonder if I'll have time for them. You can start individual threads on books, even if they are not on our Reading list or Classics schedules, under the Constant Reader folder. In fact, we encourage it and I hope you will, particularly on these books.
Hi everyone,My name is Marissa and I'm from southern California. My favorite genres are classic literature and non fiction. This is the first book community I've ever been apart of, and I look forward to participating in some great discussions.
Hello all - I'm Sarah. I went into the field of English because of a love of books and, ironically, now that I teach English, I find myself reading less than ever before. Unless you count student essays; there are plenty of those. This is an imbalance I seek to correct.
I look forward to reading and discussing here!
      Hi all!
I'm Nelson. A reader and writer. Look forward to discussing books with everyone. I'll have to say that I enjoy the darker reads more... Master and Margarita recently. Currently my to read pile and being read pile is a little too much, but it is what it is, and I want more! Cracked open Iraqi Christ and finding it extremely good so far.
cheers

Hi everyone! I'm Erica.. I'm from Leeds, England. Originally from Birmingham, England. I'm currently entering my final year of BA (joint honours) English and History. I am usually reading all of the time.. Due to my course but I love getting the time to sit and read a book for pleasure. I'm also a writer, I uploaded my first (amateur) novel on an author website and gained some fans at 13... Although reading back through it, I found it pretty awful.
I've recently entered a poetry competition and I am waiting for results (fingers crossed). I am currently waiting for time away from studying to get my first novel published that I've been working on for a few years now.
I look forward to speaking to you all and getting recommendations for new books to read.
Welcom, Erica, Nelson and Sarah. Sarah, I'm thinking that if you follow the book discussions here much at all, you won't be able to resist squeezing in books for yourself.

Hello, I'm J.S.from the UK. This looks like the sort of group that will have interesting discussions about the type of books I often read. Thank you for having me, so to speak.

Hello, I am Aubrey.I am an avid reader but I haven't read as much in recent years since I have two young children (a 4 year old and an almost 2 year old). I am trying to change that.
I recently got a library card and I'm loving it. There are a few books I am interested in that the library doesn't have but they have a pretty good selection.
Some of my favourite authors are: Dickens, Austen, the Brontes, Thomas Hardy, Virginia Woolf, Jasper Fforde, Peter S. Beagle, A.S. Byatt, Angela Carter, Ursula K. Le Guin, Stephen King, Neil Gaiman and, lately, I am on a huge George R.R. Martin kick.
I'd love to find some new favourites here :)

Greetings all! My name is Sally, I'm 35 years old, I live in South Australia and I am a lifelong bookworm. I am very much into the classics, literary fiction and contemporary fiction, plus some fantasy and historical fiction for colour. I was very happy to find this group, and look forward to chatting to you all. Please feel free to view my profile and send me a friend request or PM if you like what you see.

Hello everyone. My name is Susan. I joined Goodreads about two months ago, and have been reading with the Vipers. When I came across Constant Reader I was interested to see some of the past and up-coming reads and felt this was a group for me, so I'm really glad to be here.Recently retired, I'm an English ex-pat living in South-West France. A lifelong bookworm, one of the things I've really missed is being able to talk to other readers - I love to get different perspectives on the books I'm reading or have read - so finding Goodreads has been a God send for me. Looking forward to some lively discussions!
Welcome, Susan. What a lovely retirement place you have chosen! Please join in on the discussions. We love having new voices.

Thank you, Barbara. I love lovely retirement places. I really do. I love discussions too. I think I'm going to like it here. :)Journal of a Crazy Lady
hi, I am sonny and I have recently joined this site. I am always willing to try new genres because at one time it was all about horror. I love my classics and what people call "difficult books" because I love a challenge. I usually refuse reading bestsellers because of how simple they are to read and I feel like I don't gain anything from reading them, reading should also be educational but that might be me anal when it comes to books.

Hi everyone. My name is Mary and I've been lurking for a month or so. So far I really like this site so I have decided it's time to introduce myself. I have been reading forever. I remember my first grade teacher let me go read to the kindergarten kids rather than sit in the first grade reading class. I have about 250 books on my to-read list and I'm always adding to it. I've become very careful about resisting the urge to impulsively buy a book and generally only get books that are on my list. Too many books to read, and I've become increasingly aware of the passage of time as I age which has served to make me a more selective reader. I would describe my reading interests as eclectic.

I'm glad you're here too, Mary. I lurked for a long time before I started posting (a very long time ago) and have always been ridiculously glad that I made the leap.
