I was thinking the same thing as well, yes, once the mating dance begins that's it, but didn't his "mate" die when she was 5 yrs old? Kinda hard to begin the mating dance that early, I would think?
Sarah wrote: "Does anyone remember right off how old Hawke is supposed to be?"Well, Riley was in his late 20's, right? And he & Hawke grew up together, but Hawke was a couple years older, so maybe 30ish?
This whole debate makes me want to go back and re-read them just to try to figure it out. LOL Like a person would need an excuse!!
I'm pretty sure that he said he knows he'll never have another mate because his mate died.So he felt that she was his mate, but they never mated.
I think that's where the loophole will come in, that the ritual was never started so he could have another mate.
Has anyone read
?I was just wondering if people think the 7 hate Elena or not? Sometimes I think they tolerate her and other times maybe they are warming up to her I dunno??
Also is Raphael like loosing power? Or gaining it with all of this a little more human. I feel like I need a little more explanation.
Dawn wrote: "I was just wondering if people think the 7 hate Elena or not? Sometimes I think they tolerate her and other times maybe they are warming up to..."I think Illium is the only one who truly likes her. But it was mentioned a couple times that he has a weakness for mortals, so even though Elena is now an immortal, she still acts very much mortal.
And as far as the rest of the seven, I actually think their dislike of Elena shows their loyalty to Raphael. It's not that they dislike her on a personal level (most of them don't even know her, except Dimitri), but they know that her existence puts Raphael in danger. She is his major weakness, and it is their responsibility to keep him safe. Elena is a big deterrent to them doing their jobs.
I think they are warming up to her in varying degrees, but some will always dislike her for being Raphael's Achilles heel.
Dawn wrote: "Also is Raphael like loosing power? Or gaining it with all of this a little more human. I feel like I need a little more explanation."
I think it's a mix. He's losing power, but he's gaining humanity, which will make him stronger in the long run. Because he's with Elena, when he gets to be really old, he'll be more like Elijah than Lijuan.
Thanks Laura Lulu!I think you are correct about the 7, even though I am not sure about Dimitri, I know he wants to have sex with her but I cannot tell about the rest.
On the power thing I just remembered he is learning the power to heal.
@Dawn - Yeah I don't really think any of the 7 like her because of the fact that she's Raph's weakness. Their loyalty is to him and they don't want him dying because then they would be stuck with another master.Dimitri def. wants to have sex with her, but he knows Raph will kill him in a slow way. lol
Oh, I forgot about the healing thing too. I think that will also help him keep his head on straight as the centuries go by. The archangels seem to be very self-centered, until they get to the point where they have no conscience at all and only think of what would benefit them or make them happy. But with healing, you can't be selfish--by him healing others, that will help him to think of others in his day to day life.
I love the Guild Hunter Series!!! Raphael is mouthwatering! The Psy-Changeling Series is really good too, but the Guild Hunter is an obsession.

[bookcover:Archan..."and it's the opposite for me. I like both but the Psy-Changeling are my obsession :)
I didn't read the thread because I don't want any spoilers. I just started the Psy-Changling series and it's my new addiction. Love it!

The new book
comes out this summer and while I remember Riaz (Hawke's lieutenant) I cannot remember who Adria is. Can anyone help me recall?
I have just started
which is the first book Ive read by her and Im really enjoying it. I have stayed away from her for years but now I regret doing so.
Dawn wrote: "The new book

ahhh this is the one who is married to the weaker man and why Indigo did not want to marry for fear of being more dominate. Now I recall, Thanks Sandra!
As usual I am procrastinating by looking at author web pages. Today I came across Nalini Singh and it seems she has some new deleted scenes from Kiss of Snow.http://www.nalinisingh.com/deleted.php
I really love Brenna And Judd so that was a good one to me!
Anomander wrote: "Okay Psy veterans, should I read
after the first book i.e.
? I want to read it for a challenge."I wouldn't, Kiss of Snow has a couple that has had a long build up, but that is just my opinion.
I just finished
and really liked it. Judd's book is up next, and I don't know how I feel about him. I have to go buy
at the local bookstore.
Definitely a keeper Sandra J. I re-read it every now and then, just can't help myself :DAnomander, I wouldn't read
now, you really need to read the in-between books, like Darcy said. It would spoil a great story arc if you do succumb.
So I read slave to sensation and loved it. I didn't read the others cause I don't normally like th whole romance/new couple thing. Are the rest that good? Especially for someone who usually prefers urban fantasy over PNR

Especially for someone who usually prefer..."I think that if you liked the first one you would like the rest. Yes, there is the romance angle, couple of the book, with each one, but there are larger story arcs that are interesting. Since you prefer UF over PNR I would suggest reading one every so often, like once a month of so. That way you can read what you want, yet still expand your horizons and not get burnt out on them.
I'll have to try the rest then. Everyone seems to think they're the best. I really liked the guild hunter books also.
gin wrote: "I'll have to try the rest then. Everyone seems to think they're the best. I really liked the guild hunter books also."I actually prefer Guild Hunter series to Psy-Changeling. Don't get me wrong they are good but I really like Raphael and Elena.
Anyway I would take Darcy's advice and read them slow, unless you are in the mood for PNR.

I haven't read the most recent book yet. I saw it's not about Raphael and Elena. Is it as good as the other books?
gin wrote: "I haven't read the most recent book yet. I saw it's not about Raphael and Elena. You do get to see some of Raphael and Elena in the book, but their part is small.
I listened to these books so I never saw the covers. Actually, if you like audiobooks these are really good ones. The narrator is perfect.
I thought Dimitri's book the least I think, there were just some issues that I could not get past. It was still good though.
Never thought about listening to them on audio before I will check it out.
Nalini Singh, for me, is one of the most entertaining writers out there in the UF and PNR world. I love all her books.
Today I was surfing around Nalini Singh's blog because I am waiting for the paperback release of Tangle of Need. So imagine my surprise when I came across the first chapter of Archangel Storm. In case you are interested here you go:

Nalini Singh has updated her newsletter about the Psy/Changeling anthology due out in March 2013 and a teaser from Archangel's Storm.http://mad.ly/bbd7e2
I have to admit I am so excited about Jason's book. He is so quite and it seems like he lives in a state of depression. I cannot wait for him to find an HEA!
Very Short story (would you call this a short?) posted by Nalini on her blog about Hawke:http://nalinisingh.blogspot.co.nz/201...
Nalini just sent out a newsletter with an Exclusive Extra: Weapons Training - A Guild Hunter Short Story. Make sure to subscribe to her newsletter if you haven't already. It's so worth it. :)
