ShoSho (shoshost) | 12263 comments I'm reading Lord's Fall (Elder Races, #5) by Thea Harrison and the only reason that I can't enjoy it completely is that I'm reading the paperback , I'm so used to reading ebooks that this feels like a chore!!!!I've gone nuts

message 163: by Elishia (new)

Elishia | 2620 comments haha Shosho I really understand, I think i've neglected my paperbacks for so long, but I really need to catch up on some series and they're all paperbacks. I just think the books look way to big or awkward to hold.

message 164: by ShoSho , Moderator (new)

ShoSho (shoshost) | 12263 comments And I keep looking at the bottom right of the page to check the time or the remaining charge.last night I even turned off the bedside lamp when I got to bed to read which is something I always do when I read on my tablet.

message 173: by Robin (Saturndoo) (new)

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) GRRRRRRR......LOL I must be going through a reading slump. I have sooooooooo many books started and none of them finished. I'm going to have to sit down and make a list of everything I have started gather them all up and put them on the nightstand and force myself to read them one by one until I get them finished. I have started paperbacks, books on my kindle, and started reading some just off my computer (which I never do LOL) and get so far with them and just abandon them for something else. What the heck is goin on here LMBO. This craziness has to stop.....ugggghhhhhhh!!!!

message 174: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments I hate it when that happens, ♥Robin♥. Did you try a different genre? New to you author? Or just go out to the movies.

message 175: by Robin (Saturndoo) (new)

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) Yeah, I have a big variety of books going...a paranormal, a romance, a young adult, a cozy mystery, a christian fiction...I think I have a historical going on my kindle, I have a book of poetry I started and none of them are finished LOL. I just keep picking up something new every time instead of picking up what I need to finish. Most of these are new to me authors I just don't know what the deal is LOL but I have got to get these books finished. Sad part about it is I have started all these books this past week or so LOL. OHHHHHH I don't do movies very well...I managed a movie theatre a few years ago and I can't hardly stand movies any more. I know that sounds crazy, but movies almost drive me up the wall LOL I'm just going to have to make a list of what's started and check them off one by one as I get through with them. There not bad books, I just think I am overwhelming myself with so many books that I want to read/can't wait to get to that none of them are holding my attention.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments I'm actually reading two mysteries, which is very unusual for me.

Well, I listening to Homicide In Hardcover (A Bibliophile Mystery, #1) by Kate Carlisle and reading Death on Tour (Jocelyn Shore, #1) by Janice Hamrick . This last one was recommended to me over a year and a half ago by Carolyn F. I'm really enjoying it. I requested my library buy it back then. About time they got around it to it, right? LOL!

Actually, HiH is good too, just not as much of a surprise "goodness" as DoT.

Some of those "themed" cozy mysteries look really good ☺ I've never read mysteries but kind of interested in them. I have a few on my shelves and AFTER I get through all these other started books I may start them to see if I can pull out of this start-itis no finish-itis LOL

message 178: by Sandra J (new)

Sandra J Weaver (sandraweaver) | 361 comments I've been dealing with the same issue, Robin, for almost a year (or at least it feels like it). I have started and DNF a couple dozen books. I get so far, put them down, and pick up something else. For some reason, they're just not "grabbing" me. They're in different genres (and I did this with two audio books in the car, too). Ack. Reading ADD, I guess.

Whew!!! It must be Reading ADD, because I can't stay focused on just one right now. It's kind of aggravating....the books aren't really bad, I just don't have the interest to pick them up again. Today, I'm going to start picking them up and start working on finishing them. I'm going to start with the ones that will take the shortest time to finish LOL It's not unusual for me to have several (less than 10) going at a time but NOT quite this many (just sitting here looking at my desk, nightstand, dresser there are about 20).

message 183: by Carrie (last edited Jan 24, 2013 12:36PM) (new)

Carrie (icanhasbooks) Between that book and Sister by Rosamund Lupton which I'm still reading, I think I'll be needing a major happy and light book afterwards. Both are so good and intense that you would want to just sit and read it all, but you HAVE to stop and take mini breaks (and I'm not talking about real life making you) I mean to let it sink.

So when there are pauses in the book (the tapes in book) I stop for a moment. I have too.

I bought that book about 2 years ago and I still haven't read it because i know its going to be sad.

message 185: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (icanhasbooks) It is, and it's written so well. It makes your heart ache and I'm not even half way through it.

message 186: by Elishia (new)

Elishia | 2620 comments Because a different cover was showing I didn't realise at first it was this book you were reading. I'll wait till i'm in a happy place before I read it.

message 187: by Elishia (new)

Elishia | 2620 comments I've just finished Battle Buddy (Rough Rangers, #1) by S.J.D. Peterson and now reading Cardio Conditioning (Work Out, #7) by Andrew Grey , trying not to start anything long so i'm ready for tomorrow.

message 188: by Carrie (last edited Jan 24, 2013 02:25PM) (new)

Carrie (icanhasbooks) If it wasn't for a rec swap for another group I would have never even heard of that book. So glad I have. Lol something must be wrong with me books that I find to be sooo good are ones that seem to make me ache and streak my face. And it's written so swell. The author is great, and I'm only 71 pages into it.

Lina | 5563 comments The weather is crazy here at the moment. The winds are scary and the rain in unceasing. We lost power a couple of times yesterday. The kids are going stir-crazy, but it's perfect reading weather!

ShoSho, and anyone else in QLD, hope everything is ok where you are!

message 194: by ShoSho , Moderator (new)

ShoSho (shoshost) | 12263 comments We are fine no loss of power but it's been raining non stop and the wind is getting worse. A bit scary. My husband was just saying" I hope we don't have to claim the house insurance".

message 197: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments We've lost power just as we were about to make dinner, this had been the longest it's been off yet. Wind and rain are coming in sideways, trying to convince the kids this is an adventure. Moved mattresses to hallway, have been hearing updates from local weather authorities that there are spontaneous mini tornados popping up in Sth East Queensland. Flooding everywhere, our dam, which was almost dry 2 days ago is now overflowing. Keep safe Aussies! Howzat for an Aussie Day long weekend!

message 198: by ShoSho , Moderator (new)

ShoSho (shoshost) | 12263 comments It's not back on yet? I can only imagine how the kids are feeling. I'm really worried.
The rain it's not that bad anymore but still too windy. Our neighbor has a huge palm tree. It's moving so dangerously because of the wind.
