Great! And u?

U are pretty lucky!. My academy has 7 more months to go.
But me and my friends bought the books: Game of thrones S1 & Divergent #1) These books are great. At the beginning of game of thrones it was so written that u can actually imagine what u are reading and it was so nice. I started reading once alone at 7 O clock and Slept at 5:30. I didn't even regard it becease the story was so addictive! When i finished chapter 3, I felt like a real night-guard :p. For divergent 1 i didn't start fully with this book but as soon i finish GOT S1 then i start with it. So how was you day and which books do u like?.

message 4407: by Samia (new)

Samia Ruponti (snoebell92) | 451 comments Really? I heard that A song of Ice and fire is really boring and too descriptive?

message 4408: by [deleted user] (last edited May 20, 2014 08:37AM) (new)

Currently i'm reading GOT S1. This book is very addictive and ongoing this is what i like that u have a long way to go before u finish.

See you all next week ☺ Happy Reading!

Tati Working with one eye on the news... The bus drivers are on strike (no one expected it, as it was unannounced), and now the subway workers are threatening to go on strike as well...

(for a bit of context, I'm in São Paulo, Brazil)

As for me, I am sweating buckets! Humidity is 62%, which means I don't have to do anything at all to sweat! Gah, I wish it was winter!

I'm not familiar with Brazil, but are those the major forms of travel for most people? That could cause a huge headache!

message 4418: by Tati (new)

Tati It already did yesterday...

Because no buses were running, everyone who relies on public transportation to get to and from work turned to the subway as an alternative to get home. As a result, some of the stations got so crowded they had to be closed for security reasons.

Also because of the bus strike, traffic jam broke a record (in Brazil São Paulo is famous for its traffic jams), and reached a total of 260 km. Some people had to wait until 10 pm to be able to get home, while other walked for over 2 hours.

To be honest, I think it's partially because of the World Cup: as we are so close to it, they know the government will have to yield to their demands, as they can't have that sort of thing happening during the Cup.

message 4419: by Abi (new)

Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments That sounds like a right pain, Tatiana! :(

message 4420: by Tati (new)

Tati It is... At least, my hotel is not far from the office, and that means that, if need be, I can walk back.

But for a lot of other people, that's not the case, they really need the buses to get to work or home (yesterday, 300 thousand people were affected by the strike)

message 4421: by Samia (new)

Samia Ruponti (snoebell92) | 451 comments Hi Tatiana, hope you stay safe.

What are the people demanding? I am a little curious.

message 4422: by Tati (new)

Tati If I understood correctly, there is a group of drivers and fare collectors that were not happy with the salary negotiation between their unions and the companies that manage the bus service. This group went on strike and was preventing all other drivers from taking the buses out of the garages.

To make a long story short, they weren't happy with the 10% salary increase they got (they want 20%, it seems).

Apparently, the strike is over (for now)

So, did the drivers get what they want? Or did the police get involved?

message 4424: by Tati (new)

Tati No, they didn't (don't think they will either), and the police didn't get involved in the strike, but they had to intervene in the subway stations, to manage the crowd of furious passengers. They also had to ensure the safety of the few drivers who chose to work.

I don't understand how the strike is over if they didn't get what they want and the police didn't get involved also does that mean there's a possibility that this will happen again?

message 4426: by Tati (new)

Tati It ended because a court judge said that they had to go back to work, as the strike was illegal (if they didn't, they could be fired).

As for it happening again, it most definitely will, as there are strikes at least once a year, it's almost a tradition, really.

Tati I made a mistake last night: watched Maleficent...

message 4428: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90920 comments Mod
Is that bad then?

message 4429: by Tati (new)

Tati It was awful! As soon as the movie started, I was sure it was going to be a bad movie. Should have walked out and watched X-Men again LOL

Maleficent has so many issues! The acting was terrible, and the portrayal of the characters even more so (I wanted to slap Aurora several times)

message 4430: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90920 comments Mod
That does not sound good! I started watching the Beautiful Creatures film yesterday and it was awful. The only thing they had kept the same was the names!

message 4431: by Samia (new)

Samia Ruponti (snoebell92) | 451 comments Yikes!! and I thought Maleficent was going to be awesome, since Jolie is in it........ :'(

message 4432: by Tati (new)

Tati Visually, the movie is stunning (with the exception of the three faeries that raise Aurora, they were just weird). But the rest of it was a disaster...

Marga (margaraawr) | 1550 comments So I'm so frustrated right now. I depend too much on my phone. :/ And now it's locked.(my younger siblings did something weird idk)I reset the password so it'll go on my email. But i can't remember the password there also. Yup, silly me.

Now, I can't even remember my password on NetGalley and Edelweiss. Ahhhhhh noooooooooooo

Do you guys also just let your phones remember your password? No. Don't be like me. -_-

That's the end of my sad story. Lol
