Samia Ruponti (snoebell92) | 451 comments Guys, please give me some practical wedding gift ideas! My cousin is getting married and I'm going insane thinking about what to gift! Google isn't helping either by suggesting wine and wine baskets (We're Muslim, can't have alcohol). Please help!

message 5752: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) | 4856 comments How old is she?
I think weddinggifts has to be something they can both use, like towels or china. It's so hard to find something a little creative!

Err, my cousin? He is 28-29 (I think). The bride is 23.

I don't want to give them money, really don't, because it is sorta offensive in our culture, specially if somebody younger is gifting the money. But if I don't find anything, I suppose I'll have to risk it.

It depends on their circumstances as well, are they already living together or would they need loads of new stuff?

Do they have places that they have registered at? Maybe they have registered at a few places and you can find something on there for them.

Neither. It's a joint family (they have a separate floor though), so everything that is absolutely necessary is already there! -_-

Yikes, that does not sound like an easy task to find them a gift! Do you know if there's anything they want or anything they're saving for? I suppose cash is always there as a fall-back, but it would be nice for you to be able to get them a gift.

message 5758: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) | 4856 comments That's tough! Maybe a giftcard for a hotel or something?

It was a false alarm :( and I have to go to a school of medicine to be treated for my epilepsy. May I say my doctor is sexy! LOL

Yeah my birth control keeps me from having my monthly.

message 5765: by Tati (new)

Tati So, the guy is definitely not one of my favorite actors or people, and the movie is definitely not good, but I was watching Rock of Ages and, to my surprise, Tom Cruise has a nice singing voice.

I used to have the biggest crush on tom cruise. i had all of his films too. i love TopGun, and A Few Good Men, Mission Impossible ♡♡ Aw, don't want to have to go out now, want to watch Tom Cruise films ☺

message 5767: by Tati (new)

Tati To be honest, out of his films, I think I've only watched Top Gun, The Last Samurai and Rock of Ages

message 5768: by Irene (new)

I wasn't the biggest fan of The Last Samurai, and I don't think I've ever watched Rock of Ages.

message 5771: by Tati (new)

Tati The movie itself it's no good (I think), but his singing was really nice

message 5772: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) | 4856 comments Haha Sarah, that's exactly what I liked about it

message 5773: by Tati (new)

I don't remember the ending. I'd probably given up by that point. not my sort of thing. I just remember lots of sword fights.

Jora Jordan | 260 comments So I was looking at my books in my room, and discovered that I haven't read half of them. Is that weard.

message 5778: by Tati (new)

Tati Random thought of the day: me, promising myself I'd take a little break from challenges next month and then, "Wait, no, next month is the MMC! No break for me."

Ah, we're doing that in August this time as Sarah won't be here for all of it, so you can have thst break you've been promising yourself. :)

Next months challenges are fairly relaxed. We thought you guys needed a break from the madness!

ha ha! I booked a holiday in july and then suddenly thought 'shit! what have I done?! The MMC!!' so it's being moved to august this year ☺ I am dumb ☺

message 5781: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) | 4856 comments Haha, Abbie was trying to save you :P But you're not dumb you know, you probably just needed some time off

I just totally didn't think. it was like so much cheaper to go the first week of the school holidays when some schools haven't finished yet that I just booked it ☺ Then I woke up in a cold sweat thinking 'the MMC!!!'

message 5783: by Tati (new)

Tati Sarah, just relax! We all appreciate the work you and Abbie put into keeping this group running, not to mention the challenges, but we also understand that the two of you have lives outside Goodreads, we all do.

Enjoy your holiday!

Heather | 10157 comments Has anyone read More Than This by Jay McLean??

message 5785: by Tati (new)

Tati It was a GBR for last month. I tried to read it, but gave it up

message 5786: by Heather (new)

Heather | 10157 comments I am very offended by a reference made to epilepsy and it makes me want to put it down.

message 5787: by Tati (new)

Tati Yeah, I've found some authors can't approach some themes with the sensibility they need/deserve... The same thing happened to me with Maybe Someday (Maybe, #1) by Colleen Hoover

message 5788: by Tati (new)

Tati What was the reference? I don't believe I made it this far

Heather | 10157 comments When they were dancing to usher it said they tried to lock and drop but it looked more like epileptic fits. It's in chapter 5 or 6

message 5791: by Heather (new)

That is offensive. I have frinds that have epilepsy. And no medical condision desorves to be made fun of. And i don't know anybody that asked to have medical condision, or to be made fun of for something thy have zero control of.
