Issues with Quotes

My qoutations now started doubling. Both are still with previous mistakes.

This quote was mistakenly attributed to 'Anonymous' when I used share on my Kindle PW, but it was actually by Mark Twain (or Samuel Clemens - whichever is preferred).

OK, then add it again, like Banjomike suggested. I think what he's suggesting is that, if you add the quote again, the incorrect version can be deleted and merged into the correct one. That way those that have liked the quotes already will still have their quotes, just a correct version. Hope that makes sense!

That will only work automatically if the new version has more likes than the old one. I think that can be fiddled but I also want to see if copy/paste from a correct version of the quote to the old version will work.

Fixed

The quote is not from "The Bell Jar", but from "The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath". This is a common error, but if you make a "Search inside the book" via amazon, you'll find out where the quote is really from.
Please help me educate the masses in regard of that one! :)

Hi I just added a quote by Chinua Achebe/Things Fall Apart (number four on my quote list) and noticed a few typos.
1. first sentence- "really had" should be flipped to "had really"
2. needs a comma inserted after "dry season"
3. last sentence - "to" should be "too".
Could someone please fix it? I apologize, I was under the impression we could edit our own links and so typed this too quickly. Thank you!

Only staff can edit a QotD and they don't like to edit the text of the quote, the person (even when wrong), or the tags, or combine multiple versions. Occasionally a minor edit will get done as in this case. Rivka has fixed this one.

There is no evidence in her published work that she ever wrote this quotation.
There is good evidence this was written by Elizabeth Appell (fka Lassie Benton) in 1979.

Um, yeah, “they” do say that. Or said that. Or wrote that, actually, in 1848.
It was George Washington Burnap, an American clergyman, who wrote “The grand essentials to happiness in this life are something to do, something to love, and something to hope for.” See his The Sphere and Duties of Woman : A Course of Lectures (1848), Lecture IV, page 99. By the way, this quotation has been widely misattributed (including on Goodreads) to Joseph Addison.
Being the skilled writer Mr. Bodett is, I would have thought he would have been willing and able to give Mr. Burnap the proper credit for this quotation. It annoys me greatly when others misappropriate the words of another. I suspect Mr. Bodett would not appreciate other writers quoting words of his without proper attribution.

You will have to mention this in the Merges and Corrections for Quotes of the Day (corrections for goodreads' staff member) thread, as only GR staff can modify Quotes of the Day.
But do note - there are instances where a quote has been paraphrased later on by someone else, and in which case the paraphrasing gets attributed to the new author, not the old one, which may be the case in this instance.

If the best quote that could be found for his birthday was a paraphrease of one that is 160 years old then I would not have bothered to make him/it the QotD.

The awkward thing about GR is that only one author can be attributed to a quote. I remember a long discussion about where Neil Gaiman paraphrased G.K. Chesterton in the beginning of Coraline. He himself couldn't actually remember the full quote at the time then actually forgot to look it up, due to time constraints (although he does state it originates with G.K. Chesterton, which makes it better than a lot that paraphrase). It means that the quote is now listed here as attributed to Neil Gaiman, but has a tag stating that it's paraphrasing G.K. Chesterton:
