We totally need a logo! :)

Vikki & Karen, we should probably discuss divvying up the tasks outlined in the update thread. Is there anything specific someone would like to do? I'm open to any of them. :)

Hey Vicki and Tanya , like I mentioned before I'm on vacation and can't do anything till the 13th , but we can discuss the division of responsibilities after that!

That's fine, Karen, and would be helpful.

I'm noticing a delay of about 1/2 hour in the total count...before it updates. Anyone else noticing that?

Thanks, Danielle. I've just crossed off her book count number, not her name.

And I'll cross my fingers. ☺

Well I am off the hook on Les Miserable's until my new copy gets here. I just saw it the other day and now it is nowhere to be found. Maybe it grew legs and left my crazy house. :-)

Great choice Amy! I love Russian literature. Let me know how you like this translation. I have the P&V version.

Maybe we can have the letter C crossing the finish line first with the tape around the middle.

message 214: by Aneeqah (new)

Aneeqah | 322 comments Danielle, I love that idea for a logo! If anyone of course, is willing to make it.

I really do hope that we don't lose anyone already, especially because we're not in the lead at this point!

Anyways, I'm currently reading a book and am 100 pages in. Hopefully I'll be able to finish it late tonight or tomorrow.

Keep reading everyone!

message 216: by Robin (Saturndoo) (new)

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) | 1359 comments It's still early in the game ☺ I quit my job today because I got a new one LOL YAY ME!!! I will be working more hours with the new job, but will still have time to read. The good news is...I will have about a week off before starting the new job so I can spend it reading so hopefully that will help us get ahead ☺

message 217: by Andrea (new)

Andrea (angleisthebest) | 105 comments can we read any book, and it will count, like the book of the month, besides the ones that don't follow the rules

You can read any book that you want as long as it follows the challenge guidelines/rules. I think the main thing is the number of pages and no children's books.

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) | 1359 comments Midu wrote: "yaaaay for Robin's new job! and more reading time!"

Thanks Midu!!!I'm super excited about my new job. I think it will be a lot easier than the job I just quit. I took a cut in pay but the new job is offering me benefits and full time hours where the last job didn't (40 hours a week vs 15 hours a week). So the insurance/other benfits and more hours, will be worth the cut in pay!!!!

message 223: by Midu (new)

Midu Hadi | 2744 comments sometimes lesser pay is manageable with other benefits!

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) | 1359 comments Midu wrote: "sometimes lesser pay is manageable with other benefits!"

I must agree with you....I'm getting **older** LOL and really need the health, dental, and vision insurance. It would be really bad if something happened to my vision and I couldn't get glasses to keep reading LMBO

message 225: by Renee (new)

Renee Robin that would be horrible! I say we need to learn Braille so if our vision ever goes we can still read books. :-)

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) | 1359 comments Danielle wrote: "Robin that would be horrible! I say we need to learn Braille so if our vision ever goes we can still read books. :-)"

It would be really bad Danielle....we would still have the option of audiobooks and I like audiobooks but still like having the option of holding a book and reading it. Maybe we should look into learning Braille ☺

message 237: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments I finished two books today. The Witch and the Warrior (Warriors, #2) by Karyn Monk (paperback), which I started on New Year's Day. And To Wed a Wicked Earl (Devine & Friends, #2) by Olivia Parker , an audiobook, which I started yesterday.

Started the audiobook, Jeannie Out of the Bottle by Barbara Eden and another paperback The Perfect Wife by Mary Burton . The second is a little slow, but the bio is great.

★ gwiz ★ (ggwiz) | 760 comments Hi all, I think I about to settle in for the New Year's reading fest now that I got last year lose ends taken care for the most part :D I didn't let anything interrupt my evening reading time. I have finished my first book and am 1/2 through my second. I have 9 fairly quick books schedule with my reading bud for this month and 4 that will take a day or two more to read. If I have some extra time (and I usually do) I get one or two of my own tbr read each month.

If we are choosing a logo I like the flaming hot "C"

Here's what I'm reading now A Job From Hell (Ancient Legends, #1) by Jayde Scott

I'm off to go read catch y'all on the last page :D and maybe in between the front and back covers if time permits :-))

message 239: by [deleted user] (new)

For the logo I like C no 241 and the flaming C

Rocsana | 31 comments Lisa Kay wrote: " I'm getting ready to re-read The Hobbit this month. Loved the movie. Have you seen it? "
I haven't seen the movie yet. I' ve preferred to read the book firstly and then to see the movie. Now, after I finished the book I'm pretty excited about the movie.

Danielle wrote: "Rocsana I would love to hear what the classics are in Romania. I love the classics (American, British, Russian) so I would be interested in learning about the classics in Romania."

I like to see that you are interested about the classics from my country. Here are o few authors and books: Camil Petrescu-" The last night of love, the first night of war", Marin Preda -" The most beloved of Earthlings" Liviu Rebreanu- " The forest of the hanged", Mircea Eliade best known for " The History of Religious Idea" and also " Maytrei", "Miss Christina"," The Novel of Nearsighted Adolescent".

Tanya (mrsreads) | 50 comments Congrats on the new job! I'm glad it will let you read more...that's an awesome benefit.

If we're voting on C's, I like 241 and the flaming one as well. Is Vikki also still working on a logo? If she is, once she's done, we should schedule a vote...maybe set up a poll? I don't know if we can do that for just our thread...

Melissa (ladybug) | 1048 comments ♥Robin ♥ wrote: "main thing is the number of pages and no children's books. "

Robin, I understood the children's books that were against the rules were picture books. Are chapter books OK such as say Ozma of Oz? It is 288 pages and may have drawings here and there but it is definitely not a picture book.
