It's good but the ending is kinda flat but it sort of left it open for a sequel. Here's my review http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

message 1102: by Barb (new)

Barb According to an author interview I watched here on Goodreads, he isn't planning to do a sequel. I'm one of the folks who really liked this book, even though the ending wasn't what I expected.

Lisa Kay I actually read one more pick cover - message 1087 - That I finished reading yesterday :-D

The Grand Finale by Janet Evanovich

Kinda just happen the reading of not 1 but 2 pick covers. We'll just have to see if I just happen to read any Red covers this week ;-)

Just check this month's TBR and I have 1 red, 1 purple, and 2 white covers. But one white cover is book 1 in a series with book 3 being the red. Im right now reading an extra book that has a red cover. Surprise, surprise. And I have a couple on stand bys or extras that have the color of the week. So I might get a few more books with the right cover in the right week. :-O

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 1222 comments Finally seem to be getting back into the swing of reading again after a busy couple of weeks. Read RED TIDE by Peg Brantley yesterday so managed to get one red cover done already :) I also finished Dear Coca Cola by Terry Ravenscroft but it took me several days to read it so I don't think that counts for the bookcover challenge.

message 1113: by Jess (new)

Jess (jesscatt) | 200 comments Finished Greenwitch (The Dark is Rising, #3) by Susan Cooper and although that edition says it's over 170 pages my version was 147, so just a bit too short for this challenge. I think the next book in that series is too short by about 5 pages too, how rude of them :P

The paperback version (as long as it is NOT a Large Print edition) is acceptable to go by for page count, Jess. Go ahead and "tag" it with your bookshelf for this challenge.

I liked it too (4 stars) and I'm not sure how he would do a sequel it just seemed to me as if he left his options open.

message 1123: by Barbara ★ (last edited Feb 11, 2013 03:46PM) (new)

Barbara ★ finished Now or Never (Wizards of Nevermore, #2) by Michele Bardsley and Shadow of Night (All Souls Trilogy, #2) by Deborah Harkness .

Still working on Stormdancer (The Lotus War, #1) by Jay Kristoff and starting Speaker for the Dead (Ender's Saga, #2) by Orson Scott Card - both buddy reads.

Started listening to House of Suns last night but I'm guessing it will take me a while to get through 18 hours worth of book.

Jayme, as I was reading it, I kept thinking I didn't like it very much. But when I was done, I gave it 4 stars. I really liked the setting (1930s New York)and historical aspects, but the characters weren't very likable and you just want to slap the main character!

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 1222 comments Just finished Hyde (Hyde, #1) by Lauren Stewart , really really good book. Also finished Poisoning Sylvie by Christina Westover , really really not a good book!

I'm currently reading lots of books at once - The Time Machine by H.G. Wells and The 100 year old man who climbed out the window and disappeared by Jonas Jonasson for buddy reads and several others as well. Making the most of the fact that I don't have much to do in the lab this week to catch up!

SandyC (sandyc88) | 1193 comments Lisa Kay wrote: "Sandy, glad to see you enjoyed DoS&B."

What did you think of Life As We Knew It? I've had it on my shelf for a couple of years now but have yet to read it.

I finished Song of Susannah (The Dark Tower, #6) by Stephen King last night and am now reading The Greatest Show on Earth The Evidence for Evolution by Richard Dawkins and listening to House of Suns by Alastair Reynolds

Jess, it is written in a journal style and that puts some people off. I liked that. And since the MC's a teenager, she "hated" her mom one day and "loved" her the next, it made it feel real. The second one is about a different kid, so I'm thinking of skipping that one & reading the third.

Kirsten (kielianne) | 940 comments Just finished The False Prince (The Ascendance Trilogy, #1) by Jennifer A. Nielsen not a red cover but I enjoyed it anyways. I got the second in the series The Runaway King (The Ascendance Trilogy, #2) by Jennifer A. Nielsen as an ARC copy from a local book store (they are naughty and sell their "not for sale" ARCs super cheap) so hoping to get to reading that before it is published officially March 1st. (sounds a bit too ambitious for me lol)

That'll be after I start and finish reading The Name of the Star (Shades of London, #1) by Maureen Johnson for my book club meeting near the start of March as well. eek.

message 1150: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ Today I finished both Speaker for the Dead (Ender's Saga, #2) by Orson Scott Card which was ok but way too religious for my tastes and Stormdancer (The Lotus War, #1) by Jay Kristoff which I absolutely loved. The writing style reminded me of Eona (Eon, #2) by Alison Goodman .

I am currently listening to Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane and since I will spend tonight updating all my challenges, tomorrow I will start a red book Can't Teach an Old Demon New Tricks (Demon, #2) by Cara Lockwood .
