Hello A-Team. Happy Valentine's Day. I got a question and not sure were it should go, but is anyone else having problems with Goodreads saying that your e-mail isn't validated and that you should validate your e-mail or you won't get any more e-mails from there. The weird part is that I do that even though I am still getting e-mails from them. I just want to know if anyone else is having the same problem as me. Thanks.

Yes, I'm having that problem, Nancy, on both my regular account and the Moderator account. I haven't checked into it in the GoodReads Feedback group. I'll do so.

Sounds like one of the email providers has blacklisted us. (Likely the same one that does so every so often.) Removing the problematic email address entirely and replacing it with one from a different email provider should work for any affected users.

(When emails bounce repeatedly for a user, all email notification settings for them get turned to off. No point in sending emails that will just keep bouncing.)
Looks like it might be HotMail this time. (Though only one of my sign-ons is by them). She also recommend reading this help topic.

So, I could just use a different e-mail address?

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Nancy wrote: "So, I could just use a different e-mail address?"

Yes, preferably through gmail.

message 1062: by [deleted user] (new)

i did one through yahoo. hopefully that will work.

message 1063: by [deleted user] (last edited Feb 14, 2013 06:56PM) (new)

nope that yahoo account didn't work. guess i got to do a gmail account

Hopefully, this gmail account will work. i'm tired of doing this.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments Happy Valentine's Day, Team!

12 books down! 40 to go. At this rate, my goal is going to climb. But, I'm not ready to commit to anything just yet because there are still many months to come where I may not have time to read.

Barb Yes, Mandy, and I hope you did too!

Hubby is out of town on business this week, and daughter's boyfriend lives nearly 900 miles away. She and I both had tonight off work, so we had one of our favorite dinners and enjoyed some girl time :)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Hello A-team!!!

Just a quickie to post the current status:

TEAM A:843
TEAM B:887
TEAM C:884
TEAM D:794

On a personal level, yesterday I finished The Restorer (Graveyard Queen, #1) by Amanda Stevens that had enough unfinished business to let me curious and started Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward , which has me simultaneously excited for finally reading it and frustrated because I only can read more after 10 PM today, bummer, which meeeeans that both also match the Theme of the Week.

Happy Readings!

Grrrr. I'm getting tired of this. After putting a gmail account on the e-mail address. It still says it's invalidated when I know it is.

It is still doing it, Nancy? Why don't you try clearing your cache?

What is a cache?

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Did it work, Nancy?

message 1074: by [deleted user] (new)

No it didn't. i just got on and the message came up. is it cause i'm using Goodreads through facebook?

message 1075: by Lisa Kay (last edited Feb 15, 2013 08:24PM) (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments I'm unsure if the issue is with Facebook, as I don't have mine connected. Maybe undo that. Otherwise, I'm unsure of what the issue is, if you've done everything suggested under this help topic. Changing to a gmail account cleared up the problem for me. (But not on the Mod account...but that isn't under my control.) You could reboot your computer, but otherwise I'd say contact your ISP.

message 1076: by [deleted user] (new)

I did a new account and not use Facebook and that still didn't work so I don't know what is going on.

You could always join the GRs Feedback group and post your problem in this thread. They might be able to help you more than I can, Nancy. Sorry.

message 1079: by Barb (new)

Barb Finished three books today, Why Does a Ball Bounce? 101 Questions You Never Thought of Asking by Adam Hart-Davis     Never Sorry (Leigh Koslow Mystery #2) by Edie Claire and To Have and to Kill (Wedding Cake Mystery #1) by Mary Jane Clark -- a physical book, a book on my Kindle, and a book on my Nook, respectively. I liked them all, but Never Sorry tugged at my heart, simply because it's set in Pittsburgh, PA, and we're originally from western PA, so the places they talked about in the book are very familiar to me.

How are you liking Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles, #1) by Kami Garcia so far? I am listening to it on audiobook and it is a bit different as far as audiobooks go. The song is actually sung by someone which threw me off quite a bit. LOL

message 1086: by Rosina (new)

Rosina | 1800 comments Joyce I am loving it. About 300 pages in. Today I downloaded the series from kindle for $3 each book. Normally don't do that but loving this story. Going to see the movie next weekend.
Hope you are enjoying it too.

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Good Morning A-Team!!!

First, some numbers:

TEAM A:872
TEAM B:947
TEAM C:956
TEAM D:846

We are almost in the 900 mark, so good work team! Of course Teams B and C still have the lead, but, we let them battle till they are tired and then we step forward and win the challenge :o)
Besides, we'll having another readathon soon, soooo, we might catch up, who knows?

Second, as you may have notice, Mary was "kidnapped" by real life, so let's send her some warm fuzzies and best wishes. Hang in there girl, here's a group hug!

description

Third, reading challenges and team work is a great thing. We love to participate. But, Real Life, for those who have it *giggles* is more important. And sometimes we have to relent and give it our total attention. For those who have to worry about school, or a busy schedule, a deadline, a sick kid or hubby, don't feel like you are not doing your part or letting the team down, you aren't. I want to thank you your efforts and contribution.

Fourth, the thread isn't as dynamic as it was in the beginning, but, it is perfectly normal, since we are now almost 2 months into the challenge.

I want to thank you all for the amazing job the team is done so far!!!

Happy Readings!

*Read a book (or books) that matches the Theme and post the cover.

This week's theme was inspired by a "Blind date with a book" (those count too)

Have you heard of Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma ? The theme is a "little" controverse. I didn't read it yet, but I heard good reviews.

Or maybe Beautiful Disaster (Beautiful, #1) by Jamie McGuire ? I really liked this book. An emotional roller coaster, sometimes I wanted to hit them both! And the Travis POV is scheduled to April, so the wait wouldn't be that long :o)

message 1097: by Alexa (new)

Alexa | 118 comments Thank you Sonia :D
I think I've already got Beautiful Disaster laying around somewhere in my room LOL, a friend borrowed it a week ago. I just read the Forbidden synopsis though and it sounds really intriguing and yeah it tackles a controverse theme, I'm going to have to check it out! :)

:o)

Tell me what you think of them after!

Forbidden is in my TBR for a while, I think I'll give it a try the next time I need a UF/PNR break.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments I don't understand this week's theme at all. Are we going on a blind date with a book? As in...what? Are we just picking a book we like the cover of and reading that? Are we picking a book "blindly" and just reading it, as if it's a blind date because we had no expectations of the book?

Thanks!
