Karla I finished my 49th, and last, book of 2012 just an hour ago! Because of another challenge, I have my next 20 or so books picked out. My first one of 2013 will be

The Princess Diaries (The Princess Diaries, #1) by Meg Cabot I've read it a couple of times before, but not in the last two years.

This book is amazing and a quick read! I just read it very recently, the second one will be one of my first ones for 2013 =)

Gayle (gretarahikkainen) | 125 comments Hello Team A! Happy New Year!

My first book of the year is Ice Forged by Gail Z. Martin . I got it as a pre-release through another web site. It's due out this month. I know it says I "started" the book on Dec. 31, but I actually did not start it until after midnight and read until almost 2 AM. :)

Lizz (Beer, Books and Boos) | 705 comments I am just giving y'all a heads up the three books I am reading right now won't count with this challenge. I started before today on them

I don't mind taking up the position. It might be easier for me to keep up with all the members than someone else. Is anyone else interested, though?

I think my first book of the year is going to be Enslaved by Ducks!

message 78: by Mary (new)

Mary (merinwe) | 1043 comments I guess I'm Team Captain, then. :-)

I'm going to attempt to send out a message to all the Team A members reminding them to officially join the challenge on NBRC's main page. Hopefully it'll go to the right people.

Would anybody like to volunteer to be my helper? ;-) I'm planning on posting status updates each week, but if I can't get to it for any reason (or I forget), I'd love for someone to help me with it.

Lizz (Beer, Books and Boos) | 705 comments I'm fine with Mary being captain

Mary (merinwe) | 1043 comments Yes! I would love your help, Sonia! :D Thanks for volunteering!

Mary (merinwe) | 1043 comments These members haven't joined Team A on the home page yet:
Auggie
Marrissa
Regina
Teresa

Some of these members have their profiles set to private, so it could be that they aren't showing up. *shrug* If they don't join by tomorrow, I'll try to get out PMs.

Reminders:
1. Tag ALL books you read to your special bookshelf so we can get credit for them (provided they are >170 pages, aren't graphic novels, manga, or children's picture books). Hint: make your bookshelf sticky.
2. Your books must have a "date started" and a "date finished" or they won't count.

message 85: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I'm a helper then :o)

btw, my first book for 2013 will be either Dreamfever (Fever, #4) by Karen Marie Moning or On the Edge (The Edge, #1) by Ilona Andrews

message 87: by Ashley (new)

Ashley I have a question about the "date started-date finished" aspect. When I look at my books all I see is "date read" and "date added". Do they both need dates? Is there a date started option I am missing?

Also, is there a setting somewhere that will make the date added match the date read?

Thanks!

Ashley you can change the columns visible on the shelf settings, so if you don't need the date added, you can turn it off and show date started instead

About the settings for matching both dates, I don't have a clue, sorry

Oh cool. I had no idea you could do that. Thanks!

Barb Ashley wrote: "is there a setting somewhere that will make the date added match the date read? "

If you mark a book as "currently reading" at the same time you add it to your list, the "date started" and the "date added" should be the same.

Good to know! I usually don't mark books as currently reading. I will have to start doing that. Just when I was starting to think I knew all the important things about using Goodreads I get proven wrong. Thanks!

oh, I was thinking of adding the book to the list after I finished reading it, didn't know it has to be in the list while I am reading it o:
