◈ Mini-Challenge #6: Leave Your Mark
What do you use for bookmarks (whether you use them at all)? Do you have lots of different bookmarks, or do you use random bits of paper around your house? Share with us.
Optional: Take a picture of your bookmarks (or what you use) and post it to the thread.
------------------------------------------------
I have four bookmarks that I use on a regular basis. Two were given to me by my younger sister (and best friend). One is black with red lettering and says "Wisdom," and the other has these beautiful dried flowers on it. I usually keep it in its sleeve, but I took it out for the picture. I also use a holographic Gandalf bookmark given to me - along with a matching pen that looks like Gandalf's staff - by my dad's best friend, who loves to give me film memorabilia from various nerdy movies. He gave me the matching bookmark/pen, along with a map of Middle Earth in preparation for The Hobbit. And the last one is a holographic Marvel Heroes bookmark that is actually my boyfriend's. I steal it a lot. ;-D

What did you think of it, Laura? This one looks interesting to me.

No fever is good! Hope she's much better today. And I hope you can finally get some rest!

I always keep my bookmarks in my books - or at least in the ones I'm planning to read in the forseeable future.

I liked that it was different world and the fact that zombis was kept home and bossed around, but the main character was sometimes really stupid that i wanted to shake her and ask whats wrong with you. Can't you see whats going on around you, anyway all together it wasn't a bad book.

I used to use those subscription cards that come in the magazines we get :) Last year, the library I work for celebrated its 50th anniversary, and one of their anniversary mementos was a magnetic bookmark with the name/logo printed on it. I love these bookmarks, since I can clip them to the page to indicate exactly where I stopped reading :) I used one until it fell apart, so I asked our director (my boss) for another. She gave me a handful of them, and I've got them squirreled away so nobody else in my family can abscond with them :)

Good news: I surpassed my 600 page goal nonetheless!
I've completed

Total: 788/600 pages

Well, I use anything for bookmarking, from book receipts to bits of paper, but I have a few bookmarks, two of my favorites I couldn't find, and, since I arrived home like half an hour ago, and it's like 2 AM, and I have to get up in five hours, I gave up, it's probably inside a book. They are paper wrapped in hard plastic, one was my sis that gave it to me, is quite simple, with only my name on it. The other is similar, but it says "just one more page".
The other ones that I use are - the ones sent by bookdepository when I buy books online (the top two on the pic)
one that says "Guga The Turtle", it doesn't make sense in English, but the Portuguese word for turtle is tartaruga, so it rhymes. The blue and the black ones were from the portuguese editions of Son of a Witch and Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. And the last one was a drawing made by one of my best friends. Since I love my books, using it as a bookmark is a better way of cherish him than have the drawing stuck in a drawer.

And I also have 108 pages left from

My bookmarks: I have a lot of bookmarks that I've collected over the years. I used to buy one every time I went into a book store but now they seem so expensive for what you get so I rarely buy them anymore. My favorites are a few Tinkerbell related ones, other fairies and one shaped like a surfboard from a Hawaiian shop. I use just about anything for a bookmark if I don't have an actual bookmark available nearby. I'll use magazine flyers, receipts, sometimes another book, lol. Maybe I'll take a picture of my bookmarks later. I can't seem to find my fairy or Tinkerbell ones.. I bet they are inside books I have started and haven't picked up haha. Okay, this is me rambling! Have a good one.

◈ Mini-Challenge #7: The Four Seasons (*This is choose-a-book only, no reading included)
Pick a book you'll read on:
*A Spring day in a meadow with a blanket under a tree.
*At the beach on a sunny Summer day
*Curled on the coach, listening to the rain outside on an Autumn day.
*In front of a fireplace on a cold Winter day
--------------------------------------
Here are mine (these are all pulled from my favorites):

1. Spring - The Sky Is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson - This book just demands to be read outside in green grass under a tree. Its beautiful, lyrical descriptions of nature (and of everything else) will make you want to go outside, stare at everything around you, and shout, LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL!
2. Summer - The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen - This book takes place over one long summer, a summer that changes everything for a grieving Macy Queen. Also, I think the first time I read this, I was at the beach. So I had to put this on here.
3. Autumn - Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein - There are a few genres I love to read while it's raining and/or storming outside. They are: historical fiction, mystery, and suspense. This book has all three. At the heart of this book though, is a story about fierce, loyal friendship.
4. Winter - Heart's Blood by Juliet Marillier - This book is absolutely perfect for curling up beside the fire with a mug of hot chocolate and a comfy blanket. It's a fantasy retelling of Beauty and the Beast and the story will warm you right up.

No worries, Elaine! We'll be trying this again sometime soon.

Series I'm Finishing:
Black Dagger Brother
Sookie Stackhouse
Diana Gabaldon's Outlander Series
Series I'm Starting:
Jim Butcher's Dresden Files Series
Virgin River
Kinsey Milhone

No worries, Elaine! We'll be trying this again sometime soon."
I hope to catch up on my reading asap!
Will be hoping that I get the time to participate in the next one then (:

Maybe in the last week February? *whistles*

1. Spring - Veronika Decides to Die - Although the book talks about suicide, and a loony institution, it also talks about hope, and how precious life is. How you can really appreciate life if you have the proper mind set.
2. Summer - Fire Me Up - I prefer light readings or fun readings to take to the beach. This one is both. First time I read it was on audio version, and I'm so glad I did. Barbara Rosenblat does a wonderful job, her Jim's voice is AMAZING, and the sassiness and funny moments of Aisling are precious. Every time I think of the panties scene I have to stiffle a giggle :o)
3. Autumn - Fair Game - This book is good on every season, but a rainy day is the perfect excuse to keep all day, curled on the coach, and reading non-stop - the perfect way of reading this book.
4. Winter - An Ice Cold Grave - One of the main turns of the saga occurs in this book. That combined with the ice and the snow that are the main scenario, is perfect for a fireplace. Is not a happy theme, but it asks for some warmth and comfort.

Next time, will be better.

I'm sorry about your hectic schedule! Don't worry, we'll be doing this again (a few times, I hope). I understand how life can suddenly get crazy. Hope things settle down for you soon.

Next time, will be better...."
Migraines = worst things ever. Especially when they interfere with reading. I'm glad you're feeling better now.

Next up is And On the Eighth Day..., chosen mostly because I need a Q author, and an A title never hurts either :)

So I read 1121/800 pages.

Spring: Chocolat It's set shortly before Easter and for me it is the perfect description of a new beginning.
Summer: Wellen It's one of those books that makes you feel the heat and closeness of some summer days.
Autumn: The Shadow of the Wind I can still feel the fog of Barcelona.
Winter: Doctor Zhivago When I think of winter I think of this book.
