Claire wrote: "Great going Elle!! I've been out shopping today so I'm a bit behind with my reading!"oops must of overlapped. my internet is so slow! ill be out tomorrow as well to the cinema then again on thursday and sunday working so im trying to make up for it!!!
thank you! i havent got much read today. only 20 of so pages since i got up quite late and spend the morning browsing the music channels before heading out
I seem to do everything but read when I have time some days! I enjoy it though and I never regret taking the time to read so why does it feel like such an effort? lol
That's true! Although I never feel as good after wasting time online for ages than I do after reading!
exactly! haven't even read a single bit today? hoping to get ready early for work so i can read for an hour before I have to leave!
I'm jealous, wish I had read that much (but I'm doing 5 hours travelling tomorrow, so might manage some). I seem to spend too much time watching TV at the moment, to try and get some space on my box.
Desley - before this week I was spending too much time watching films to clear some of the DVD's I've been lent in recent months. They aren't on my back to give them back or anything but I just want rid of the pile!
Don't talk to me about piles of DVD's, I have at least 10 box sets next to the TV that need watching, I'd love to reduce the pile.
I have a 160g box that's 90% full and a 200g one that only has 11% spare capacity and just taping a 2 hour film. Have quite a few films, but apart from a couple, they are re watches. Oh, and a few things on the recordable DVD player
sounds just as bad as me Desley!I didn't get anything finished yesterday and as I said before to make it easier on me I wasn't counting any pages from books I have yet to finished (just due to the fact on the Kindle its a pain in the ass if they dont have real page numbers)
I'm listening to the Harry Potter soundtracks and it makes me want to read the books so much!! I want to be reading them right now, all 7 of them at once
Hi Claire, I thought I had a completely free week for the most part but last minute plans filled up the entire second half of my week so I barely got any reading done after Wednesday! I did managed to hit 1000 pages (actually I got to 1043) but didnt managed to finish anything else entirely (was mostly reading short stories in anthologies).
Because I apparently have no life and have no greater pleasure than to organise, I decided to arrange my Kindle books into collections from the years they were bought!what this showed me is that my earliest books are all free classics. i do have some books from 2011 that really need reading but mostly the majority of my unread books come from 2012 which is apparently the year i didn't stop spending money because omgoodness there are loads!
im trying to read in year order now though. ill hopefully finish off my classics by year end taking away the 2010 folder (or at least start and figure out ill never ever finish it so i can delete them but feel better because i tried LOL) all pleasure novels will be taken from 2011! nothing will be read from 2013 until ive cleared the majority of the older ones!!
I am going to do that after my A-Z challenge, I didn't get the kindle app to 2011, but there were loads last year, think a few will be deleted before finishing tho
Did you use the Amazon order dates for that? I'm tempted to do that just to see when I 'bought' the most free books!! :)
Yes, Claire. I only put them in year but maybe from now on I might put them in month (or maybe quarter year) folders just to be more exact? I haven't decided yet.

thanks!
& it took me a real while to get into but i did end up enjoying it mostly. i did feel like i read half a book though and i don't love it like a lot of people seem too. i couldn't relate to the main characters and i felt like the author, while mentioning serious topics, skimmed over a lot of important stuff so it felt kinda flat in the end
$$ only one book away from my book goal for the year$$ just over 3k pages away from my page goal though
$$ kicking it out of the park with movies (updated list)

That's how i have my books elle but i have 1 collection for free books(free2010) and paid(2010) and so on for 2011,2012 and 2013.
Edited to say that i also have collections by year for books that are in series.
I start off with good intentions, but sorting books just makes me want to read them! All my 2012 books are in one folder, most of 2013 haven't been downloaded, don't have to do anytgi.g with them then!
Jud (Disney Diva) wrote: "I don't think I'd have the patience to put ALL my books into collections"my total books on the kindle come in at around 240 ish so wasnt a huge job. took a few hours spread out over three days
It takes a bit of time sorting them to start with, but after that it's easy to keep on top off,I've got a notebook that I write all the authors I read series in order, then when I download a book,I write the collection name beside the book so I know where to find it,I also use highlighters to show at a glance, which books I've bought and which I've read.I've been using this system for about a year,I wouldn't want to take it on now tho as I've got over 1300 books on my pw.
very organised Lorraine! im trying to read in date order so i dont really need to know what is in each collection - just that i need to read it.i done a lot of my sorting from memory actually and i was like 90% correct for most of them.
note to self; tbr jar.ive already started drafting my post for next years challenges. how sad?
i just figured i wont have much time when it actually needs to be done so might as well start it now. plus always a good idea to write stuff down when you have an idea.
im on the hunt for some fun new challenges for movies
I think I'm going to do a 'read oldest books' challenge next year. I have unread books from 2010.. (only 6) but there is 367 from 2011, I'll have to read 1 a day to read all them! Why do I have so many books!!I clearly started to wise up in 2012 as I only have 184 books unread from that year and 20 from this year.
You don't want to know how many books I've got on my kindle to read. When I've whittled down my 'atacking kindle freebies' list a bit, I'll start adding them in the order I got them!

2010: 12 (all free classics)
2011: 54 (again a lot of free classics in there but still some unread PAID EXPENSIVE FOR books in there)
2012: 128
2013: 53 (eurgh.)
I would be quite have with that figure elle,I have 2010,paid 13,free 5.
2011,paid 32,free 107.
2012,paid 46,free 492.
2013,paid 41,free 265.
and 304 from other sources.
