Book Title: Stained Glass Monsters by Andrea K. Höst
Date Read: 7 Feb 2013
Rating: ★★★★
Review:
A very interesting YA fantasy by Andrea K. Host.
It is told from the POV of two characters Rennyn and Kendall. Ren's family has been working in secret to stop the Black Queen's grand summoning from happening. Ren and her brother Sebastian are the only two people from her family left who knows the secret. Ren is forced to reveal herself when she saves Kendall.
The rest of the story is about the Ren's quest - whether she is able to stop the Summoning and the consequences of her actions. The two POV were used very efficiently giving new insights to the characters.
I'm definitely picking up another book from the author.
Points:
Cover (Two people + monster) = 2
Plot (MC is on a quest) = 3
Title (Monsters in Title) = 4
Setting (Pub in 2011) = 6
Bonus Word:Kendall ran out of things to call Sebastian Montjuste-Surclere and started the list over, stomping a foot in time to each word. (Page 134) = 1
Total: 16

This is the same video :) I'm sorry, I didn't realize video won't be seen in US when I linked it to Mr. Elf, usually if there are problems I can't see it, and not the other way around :D

Cover:
(link to lyrics) – girl lying down; someone underwater; a person flying or in mid-air
(link to videos) - hat and sunglasses; convertible; blond with bangs (fringe); railway tracks; key locket on a chain; tattoo; couple kissing
Plot: Book with recurring flashbacks in the narration; girl loses herself in a relationship; hero/heroine are band members; hero is a "bad boy" ie, in trouble with the police or has a bad reputation.
Title: Books with the words I KNEW (together) - will also take I KNOW - or TROUBLE in the title.
Name: Author or Character with a name, surname or nickname TAYLOR or SWIFT.
Setting: book published in 2012 or set in the DESERT.

both were published in 2012 and both are on the bad boy shelf so bad boy plot works and both have the word rhythm but neither has cover or title points. But if you guys have found something better maybe I can see if I can get my hand on that book :)

Plot- recurring flashbacks, Name- Author's last name is Taylor, Cover- girl has blonde hair with bangs, Setting- written in 2012 so should be worth 16 if i did math right

DG has found this book:

It has Setting(2012), Name (character name is Taylor), shelf, bonus word, plot (band boy, bad boy :P) and cover too (girl lying down, couple almost kissing) to a total of 18 points.
It's going to be either of those. Not sure which though.

Edit: Part of my debate is that everyone is going to read the one and I don't know if I want to read what every one else is reading. If that makes any sense

You didn't list shelf as a point...I do believe it is on the "bad boy" shelf :)

Judy - I checked the page yesterday. It is not in bad-boy shelf. And hope you feel better soon!

Karen, your father is in my thoughts. Glad you could stop in (and thanks for the message the other day!)

Judy, hope you feel better soon! Sorry you didn't like your read for this week.
I still haven't started my book yet. I've been stalking MFM in other threads and there are mixed reviews. So again alternating between the books..

A Rogue by Any Other Name by Sarah Maclean

Review:
Michael, the Marquess of Bourne, lost everything one night in a game of cards. Ten years later, he has not only surpassed the wealth he lost, but he is also one of the owners of an exclusive gaming hell called The Fallen Angel. Bent on revenge and the need to gain back all he has lost, he finds that he cannot pass up the chance at winning back his ancestral home, he'll do anything it takes to get it back, even if it means acquiring a wife in the process.
Lady Penelope Marbury understands that spinsterhood awaits her. She's dealt with a broken engagement and boring courtships that have left her pining for something more. When her childhood friend Michael, whisks her away one night promising adventure and the illicit pleasures of the London underworld, she finds his promises hard too resist.
Michael and Penelope are wonderful. Michael is dark and brooding - he's tormented, sarcastic and jaded (I love 'em like that!) and treats Penelope at arms length. He's a man with one thing on his mind... revenge, and nothing will stand in the way of him avenging himself. Penelope is feisty and witty and so full of life. I loved how proper she was even when Michael has her at her wits end.
I adore stories of childhood friends becoming lovers and I especially loved reading Penelope and Michael's letters at the beginning of each chapter. I think it was splendidly done, how you get to know their past through their letters without getting full chapters reminiscing on their time as children growing up.
Michael and Penelope's love story was swoon worthy. Michael was such a tormented character - it was hard not to feel as emotionally wrought out as Penelope was when it came to her feelings for him.
These are the types of characters you become invested in - feeling their hurts and joys just as much as they do. Their happily-ever-after was a hard one to come by which made it even sweeter in the end.
I cannot wait to see what Ms. MacLean has up her sleeves for the other three scoundrels in the series. I can't wait to read the next in the series - One Good Earl Deserves a Lover. eeek!
Addendum:I am please to say that the word "sheath" was not use once in this book. The over abundant use of the word "sheath" is my biggest pet peeve about historical romances.
Points:
Shelf=1 Bad Boy
Plot=3 Michael is a scandalous rogue hell-bent on revenge and there are small flashbacks in the form of letters of their childhood at the beginning of each chapter.
Setting=6 Published in 2012
Bonus Word:Rhythm=1 ...sway of their bodies with the rhythm of the wheels...page 117
Total Points=11

I think, due to his situation, he just had to go back to the hospital to be checked by the M.D., then back to his re-hab center. It is a procedural/process issue, not that he took a turn for the worse, right Karen?

Congratulations for finishing up last week's song. I have updated your dance card in post #2!

Review: *So I had this big whole review wrote up and well poof it's gone. Sometimes I loath you GR*
Taylor and Hunter are roommates along with two other girls, to him he has hit the jackpot. To Taylor she wants him gone now. She wants him gone before he even showed up, there has to be a mistake, he's well a he. And a cocky know it all who doesn't call her by her real name and well lucky for her it's her room he's sharing.
They both have their secrets, they both push each other away when they seem to be heading in direction of them. They defect, the snap, they don't talk.
When I first started reading this, Hunter and Taylor annoyed me. But as I continued reading they started to grow on me, especially Hunter.
I love the banter between those two, to quote Renee (roommate) "You guys eye f**k each other every second you can". Makes me think of Def Leppards, When Love and Hate Collide

I'm leaning more towards Romancing the Countess, even though The Gamble is worth more.

Yay! I'm glad to hear that :)
I oh so did not want to read a strictly romance book :)

Wow the Violet Femmes have 2 people done. Those people are crazy fast.

Review
Ok so yet again I made the mistake of picking a book for points. While I didn't hate the book I really didn't enjoy it that much. It's not that it was bad but it is too much like so many books I've read recently. Taylor and Hunter just annoyed me the whole book. I found it hard to keep reading. Again not a bad book and I probably would have like it better if I hadn't already read this same premises in the last 15 books I read.

So sorry, Jennifer. I mentioned this to Mr. Elf earlier in the week, because I'm not able to view the video either. I asked him if this one was the same, or at least acceptable. I asked him again this morning; I haven't heard back from him.
