Book Title:Captain's Fury by Jim Butcher
Date Finished:6 Jan 2013
Rating: ★★★★
Review: This is a good addition to the Codex Alera series. Tavi's growth has been credible to an extent though I wished he'd remain the same as the first few books. The developments in the book were expected. The secondary characters are getting fleshed out and I wish Kitai would get more screen time. I so want to learn more about her. I'm definitely going to finish the series.

Book: Skin Deep by Pamela Clare
Rating: ★★★
Finished: 06-01-13
Review: I really enjoy this author's writing style usually, but didn't enjoy this as much as I was hoping for. This is a wonderful premise for a book, but the relationship between Megan and Nate felt so forced, so rushed and so predictable, that it lost it's charm. I was captivated by Nate's backstory, the effect his scars had on his life and his confidence. I was equally intrigued Megan's past and her constant struggle to be who she is today, and her love for her little girl. I didn't really feel like a lot of their issues were resolved satisfactorily, but I enjoyed the way the tale was told.

Book:Sand Dollar: A Story of Undying Love by Sebastian Cole
Rating:★★★1/2
Finished:January 6, 2013
Review: This is not normally my kind of book. But surprisingly enjoyed it. It was a tear jerker and I found myself grabbing for the tissues. I've seen other compare it to the Notebook meets the paranormal and it is pretty accurate description. I will definitely check out more books by Mr. Cole.

Review:Alyssa has known Marco all of her life, looked up to him, respected him, loved him. Marco always looked at Alyssa like she was a little girl, she's the kid sister of his best friend, he's known her all his life. Never once had he thought of her other then that of a kid, it's only now that she's working with him that he (and all males around) can see that this little girl is definitely all grown up. When Alyssa looks at him she still sees the Marco she knew, not thinking that things/people change, Marco has changed. After coming back early from the War in Afghanistan he isn't truly 100% the same. He has nightmares, he is more closed off. He is scared both emotionally and physically. But with Alyssa around he starts to feel like the man he use to be.

As the other teams were discussing, finishing early doesn't always matter if we can squeeze the most number of points for each person i.e it depends on our choice of book. The theoretical maximum right now is 21 but I'm not sure if we can hit that consistently. What do you think?

As the other tea..."
I think you're right, book choice trumps speed in this comp.

CaroB, 12 seems to be a good target. Lets test it in the next round. We could aim to get at least 60 the next round. It'll help us catching up to the other teams.

Stay Safe Carrie and take care !!
