I'm so glad I'm not the only one thinking like this!

Lina | 5563 comments Thanks for all your good wishes Everyone!! It'll be a big change for us, I haven't worked full-time in 8 years, but so excited to get back into my industry.

Right now I'm twiddling my thumbs and trying to not fall asleep waiting for Mr Elf to post the song. I haven't looked at any links, I thought I would wait until the song was called, but think I may have to come back on tomorrow morning to have a look. I've had one too many champagne slushies in celebration. My husband is watching a James Bond movie and I know I should be finishing off the book I'm currently reading, but instead I'm on here trying to figure out which book i'll read next...

Melissa | 337 comments I'm thinking of reading The Children of Men by P.D. James

It would have publishing year, Name, and I think that tie in to the lyric "your like a disease without any cure" Since it is about people suddenly no longer being able to have children.

message 113: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (icanhasbooks) Power just came back on, how long it will last I don't know, lol. So I'm going to hopefully get a book picked out before it goes again.

message 114: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (icanhasbooks) Wow this is harder then I thought it would be, a tad frustrating as I keep on losing power.

message 115: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 337 comments ok I give up somehow I had the wrong year for that book. What is everyone else reading? I need help!

message 117: by Carrie (last edited Jan 11, 2013 10:03AM) (new)

Carrie (icanhasbooks) I'm thinking about using Private Scandals by Nora Roberts

It will give me
Setting (1993)
Plot (obsessive stalker)
Name.
There is a guy with the last name James, he's not the main character though, so I'm not sure if it will count.

message 118: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (icanhasbooks) I asked in the something to talk about thread and have to hear anything so I'll ask here maybe one of you guys know.

Does the name have to be the main the character? Or can it be a supporting one/bad guy?

message 119: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments it has to be a main characters name, Carrie.

message 120: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 337 comments ugh I still have absolutely nothing!

message 121: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 337 comments Alright ladies after going through all of my ebooks I made my way to the overly packed closet to try and find a book. So after having a huge pile of crap and books fall on me I finally found a book. It is not as many points as I would like but it will work. I'm going to read Men at Arms (Discworld, #15) by Terry Pratchett
Setting:published 1993
Cover:handcuffs

I'll let you know if I come across anything else.

message 122: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments Well done Melissa! Those Terry Pratchett books are crazy funny sometimes.

message 123: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments Thanks Karen :-) I remember reading the first one of the Ly-san-ter family, didn't realise there was a follow-up or even a series. I'll be interested to see what you think of the read.

message 124: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments I still have absolutely no idea what I'm going to read for this yet.

message 125: by Vi (new)

Vi The Violet Femmes have 2 reviews up. Another member has finished but will post review soon! How do they do that? I haven't even selected my book yet!

message 126: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments LOL! I have no idea! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that however long we take to read, we may actually catch up some points.

*whispers quietly so the other teams don't hear* I've just noticed something while I've been trolling perusing the threads... the people who choose books from the shelf tend to also get plot points, so it ends up being an automatic 4 points. Might be something to consider for future weeks, I think someone mention the shelf link was broken at page 4 or something.

message 127: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments OK, I think I have my next read for this week.

I'll read:
Voyager (Outlander, #3) by Diana Gabaldon
Voyager by Diana Gabaldon.
I've read it before, but it was years and years ago. These are the points it should give me:
Setting = Published in 1993 = 6 pts
Name = Hero is James Fraser, nicknamed Jamie = 5 pts (I actually have to double-check the rules for this, so this may change.)
Plot = Characters who were together, then separated, get back together = 3 pts

Possibly 14 points total.

message 128: by Vi (new)

Vi Since my bookshelf has yielded me nothing (tried to fit: Perfect but got only settings so far), I've decided the only sensible thing I can do now is stalk other team's thread. So here are a few books from their thread with high pts:

Shadow Dance Setting + Plot (stalking) + Cover (Knife) = 14
Present Danger Setting + Name (Hero's name James) + Plot = 14
Slow Waltz In Cedar Bend Setting + Author Name + Plot = 14
Captive of My Desires Setting + Name + Plot = 14

I think I'll go with Present Danger. Or Shadow dance.

message 129: by Vi (new)

Vi Good luck with Voyager, CaroB! It's a chunkster!

message 130: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 337 comments CaroB, great job! That will make up for some of the points I'm going to be behind on. I just don't want to spend all my time looking for a book. I just want to find one and read. I haven't read any of the Pratchet books yet but am very familiar with them so I'm not too worried going into it out of order. I've seen some of the tv movies they've done.

message 131: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments Vi, my bookshelf yielded quite a few published in 1993 and I chose to forgo tons of points to get one off my TBR and it goes well with another challenge I'm doing. In reading it, I think I may get plot points. My point is, have fun with this ;)

message 132: by Carrie (last edited Jan 11, 2013 09:58PM) (new)

Carrie (icanhasbooks) Ugh power is finally back AGAIN!! Also double ugh for having to be main character name. Going back to bed, ran around like crazy recharging things when I noticed my power on. Hopefully it's on in the morning when I wake to pick a book, seeing how the one I had in mind won't do well point wise.

message 133: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (icanhasbooks) I think I'll just stick with Private Scandals by Nora Roberts , I'll get setting + plot and well I started it last night during the power outage.

message 134: by Vi (new)

Vi I finished PD earlier today. I'll post my review tmrw from my laptop. Off to bed now

message 135: by Vi (new)

Vi I totally agree Susan! The only problem was I read most of the books in my TBR; some very recently. That said, I enjoyed PD very much. It was very unexpected!

Carrie (icanhasbooks) How in the heck do the purple team have 4 out 5 already.

I don't know! Amazingly fast readers. I thought I picked my book fairly quick and was reading it by 9 am yesterday morning (song is posted around 5 am my time). I finished mine today. There was no way I could get it done yesterday.

message 138: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (icanhasbooks) Like the reading part fine. It's the waiting for song, finding a book that works AND the reading of it. These people are good.

message 139: by Vi (last edited Jan 15, 2013 05:13PM) (new)

Vi I gotta run so here's a quick review:
Week 2 - ♬ Laid by James (1993)

Present Danger by Susan Andersen

Book Title:Present Danger by Susan Andersen
Date Finished:12 Jan 2013
Rating: ★★★★
Review: An expected surprise. A rom-suspense set in the 1990s which is light on suspense and more on romance. The author has tried to express the accents through her writing which started to irritate me after a while. The romance part was written good while the supense was nearly non-existent. All in all, I'm glad I read the book.
Song Link & Points:
Plot - Female lead ex-husband is obsessed with her = 3
Name - Male Lead name is James
Setting - Published in 1993 = 6
Total = 14 points

message 140: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments Vi, you get 14 points for that one, not 11.

message 141: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments OK, I completely over-reached with my book choice. It's not a book I should be reading in a hurry. I'm off to try to find another book that fits ASAP, sorry ladies!

message 142: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 337 comments I'm still finishing mine too. Sorry I couldn't read at all yesterday. I worked all day and then hubby and I had date night (we only get to do this maybe 3 times a year). So I'm going to read today and tomorrow

message 143: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments Date night trumps reading anytime ;)

message 144: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (icanhasbooks) Lol depending on what the date is, you can/could always take your book.

message 145: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments LOL I would cause a date night with my Hubs usually involves a trip to Bass Pro Shop :)
