Review: Hmmmmm.... This one leaves me right in the middle a bit of good, and a bit of bad. The story is that while excavating a mummy Harry gets sucked out of 1920's Iraq and into a bottle for 80-years to be unleashed by Edie. Edie is shy and reserved 30 year old virgin with an verbaly abusive father. She now has the power to make wishes through Harry. That part of the plot was good. But then the wishes Edie starts to make just make her seem like a twit not a woman with a PHD. When she does accidentaly wish to get the info she needs she doesn't do any thing with it. The story evolves into porn star mode, swashbuckling pirate mode, and streaking through the library mode. After lots of gratuitus sex scenes it does come back to plot. But then the author does the unthinkable $%#@ing cliffhanger, for no good reason. Not even a HFN ending a hi were in the middle of Iraq with out a clue held at gun point ending. My normal response is that clifhangers automatically take out a star. I would have given this 3.5 stars and 2 seems just a bit low, so over all it gets 3 stars.

Review : I'm disappointed with this book , the heroine was a bitch , the hero was a tattooed hillbilly the story is same old nothing new , why ? i was excited but they killed my imagination :( maybe someday i'll give it a second chance . Movie/tv refrence Renee reminded me of lizzie's younger sister Lydia in The Lizzie Bennet Diaries .

I really need to catch up on that series.

I really need to catch up on that series."
Me too, I think I got stuck at #7 on that series.

I really hope Nix gets her own story too. It will take quite some hero to match her!
I took a break from the series for a couple of months because I was starting to get burned out on it. I had a really hard time getting into

Have you heard any of them on audio, Manvir? The narrator is to die for. **sigh**

Most of my friends don't understand how I can read so much and I always explain it the same way. To me reading is like watching T.V. People zone out when they watch T.V, and I do the same when I read. I zone out and get sucked in lol.

Books = Tv + Movies + going out ... ect

― George R. R. Martin, A Dance With Dragons
That about sums up my feelings about the readers/non-readers arguments. I don't think any less of non-readers unless they give me crap about reading too much. Thankfully that doesn't happen often. My husband thinks I read too much, but everytime he mentions it, I remind him about how much time he spends sleeping or playing PC games.

Review: Loved it. Hedi was a bit annoying but I got over it since that was just how her character is supposed to be. She was the whole 'mature but still immature' young adult thing going on and is very flippant at times. Bridge was the typical tortured bad boy with a rough past to match Hedi's own. The blurb at the back is a little misleading as not once in the book did she ever think he might have been responsible for her father's death but she did blame him in an indirect way.
My main problem with the book was the authors style of jumping forward and then going back to explain the gap before. It worked ok for some parts and just confused me the rest of the time. Some times the story felt fragmented as well. Like I had just missed a sentence that explained the one I was currently reading. This was a pretty gritty and grim book near the end but I liked it more for that. Can't wait till July 30 for the next book!

I read books and play them like a movie in my head with audio books , the movies are more colorful and real .listening to an audiobooks usually is one extra star for me . it makes it more intense

I have no problem with the first person POV when it is someone else's voice in my head so to speak telling me the story rather than my own, which made it impossible for me to identify with first person. Now I have a whole range of books to choose from and it is really difficult choosing what to listen to next.

Susan the only thing I can't do while listening to Audiobooks is typing !I can do working , cooking ,... anything you can think of!

That is so interesting, Lauren! And so neat that you found this out. Yes, opens up a whole new world of 1st person POV.

As for 1st person pov I don't have a problem. I never noticed but I think the voice in my head is always what I think the character would sound like and I never hear my own voice in my head.

Review : This was a quick read , i usually like Lauren Dane's books they are my guilty pleasure but this one was very boring , i need something anything maybe a spin off ( mystery , paranormal , aliens , bitchy ex or a stalker creeper) but there was nothing , i didn't feel this book it was like reading a textbook , i don't have a description to the characters but immature , there were lots of the chase brothers and their wives who i adore but other than that nothing .
I hate it when the heroine spoke to her brother ; it was like a parent who tries to talk like their children a (Pure Torture) , here comes my reference to this week she reminded me of the father (phil) from Modern Family .

Book: Once and Again by Lauren Dane

Review: This is my second Lauren Dane book. The first was Giving Chase, which was a DNF (the atrocious writing and clunky dialogue made it unreadable). Obviously, Dane's writing skill as improved because this was much more appealing despite the odd editing issue.
Love the small town atmosphere and the sense of family as if everyone has a stake in the outcome of Nathan and Lily's romance.
Lily's trials and tribulations with her family made for entertaining reading, especially when she gives them what for. The romance is sweet but nothing special probably because Nathan is a rather ho-hum hero and the chemistry with Lily is barely there.
Thankfully, the cheating aspects of the story are minor and mainly relate to some stupid actions on Nathan's part when he and Lily were on a break.
All in all, not a bad read and I might read another Lauren Dane book sometime but she is not a must buy author.

I'm still sick, kids of course feel fine and there was no school today so I got all kinds of nothing done.
Even worse I have a great book for this week I want to be reading but I picked it up earlier this week, I only got to page 30, but I did start before it was announced. Booo

Dawn, if you want to re-read the first 30 pages, I'll allow it ;-)

I could kiss you right now!
I will re start it right now. I was using it as my "keep-in-the-car-to-read-while-waiting-for-my-daughter-to get-out-of-school book" I probably should re-read as those 30 pages were over the course of 4 days and Im not real clear on what is going on anyway.

Review: This was a little on the meh side. Not awesome, not terrible. Just ok. Lily moved back home because of family troubles. Nathan is her ex (cheated on her), and now that she's back in town, he wants her back. There's a bit of wooing and sex, and then everyone's happy. The end.
