Book: Hell on Wheels - Julie Ann Walker
Completed: 01/04
Rating:★★★☆☆
Review: A romantic-suspense/military-spec-ops-romance. I don't normally read this genre - the military aspect of it anyway, but I like it. Will read more. This one is about Ali and Nate. Ali is Nate's best friend's sister. Bad stuff happens causing Ali to go to Nate for help. More bad stuff happens, they get through the bad stuff together, they fall in love, HEA. I'm a sucker for a sweet HEA.

Week 1: ♬ Battlescars by Guy Sebastian feat. Lupe Fiasco (2012)
Finished: 1/4/13
Rating :★★★★
Review : This book had a lot of mess in it (pilots (SOAR) , military , FBI , the first lady , secret-agents , chefs and mommy issues) , it's a new read to me where a heroine is actually is military ops , she's not a needy brat nor i need no man bitch .
When you see a military romance the plot is automaticly about a guy but this book is about Ace-pilot Captain Emily Beale but as usual she's trying to prove herself as a woman in the military .
I liked Major Mark Henderson character and how he always had her back .
First book to me by this author and i think it's an opening for more to come .

Book: Echoes at Dawn by Maya Banks
Finished: January 5th
Rating: ★★★☆☆
Review: Lacks the intensity of the previous book both in terms of the romance and the threat to the heroine.
If it is possible, Rio and Grace are far too accepting of each other. She doesn't blink an eye when he kills people even though she is supposedly a healer who cherishes life, and he embraces her paranormal abilities without question. He even goes so far as to claim that he "knew she was his" after seeing her image on video screen - talk about far-fetched. There is absolutely no conflict between them at all and this makes their romance somewhat bland and emotionless.
Every man in the book thinks Grace has amazing strength and resilience. However, to me she came across as defeatist with her "let me die" and "I will kill myself to thwart you" comments. The villain is borderline pathetic and never constitutes any real threat and the ending is saccharine sweet.
All in all, not up to Bank's standards and hopefully PJ and Cole's book will be better.

Thanks!

I didn't get as much read as I wanted to yesterday. We tried a different brand of motion sickness medicine and it did not do so well. So I got about 20 pages read in a 3 hour trip. And learned that my 3 year old should probably be medicated for future car trips as well. Just in case anyone ever wanted to know, new car smell and puke do not go well together.
I did get more read after I got home. I should be able to finish up today. There has't been an actual battle yet, but the main character has PTSD so I think that will count, just need ok from the mods.

I find it very difficult to read in the car and often start feeling sick. It makes me appreciate listening to audiobooks even more.

Ugh. Makes me nauseous just thinking about it. I used to get car sick all the time as a kid. Used to have to ride shot-gun, or I was in trouble. Threw up in my aunt's new car once, on a long trip...and she was smoking... AND I repeatedly asked her to stop. She didn't; saying, "We're almost there." Of course, she was very good natured about it afterwards, saying, "I should have listened to you." Duh!
Never heard of the bags they talk about here, but zip-locks might work in a pinch.

I really like this book, I rate this book a 5 out of 5. I liked how it made you feel mixed emotions with both happy times and sad times. I loved how close his and her family had grown together.

I have mixed reviews about Charley Davidson. She is just one hot mess. She cracks me up, between what she says, what her clothes say and all the headers at the begining of the chapters. My new fav being: You can't fix stupid, but you can stun it with a 2 x 4. In this installment of Charley's life she is recovering from her tramatic "accident" at the hands of a lunatics knife. It is her first trip out of the house in two months and lands her in all sorts of trouble. First off helping a girl who is dealing with her own PTSD and a stalker. Then dealing with her boyfriend aka the son of Satan, the demons chasing her and her dad who had her arrested and is dying.
While I love Charley and her antics the overall plot of the series is wavering, so many hints leading up to the possible end of the world. I'm just not drawn in to that story line. It isn't real clear but I think that is what the author is going for but it makes me not really care about that part of the plot. I will continue to read this series just to see what Charley gets into, not to see if she can save the world.

Dani the first line of your books blurb is "Chase Walker used to be a good kid—charming, athletic, and with a bright future ahead, but that was before travesty struck his life, sinking him into deep despair. That sounds like battle scars to me, I am going to submit it that way to see if we can get you 9 points. The mods can let us know if it has to be in your post to count.

The thread to post points is locked up still so I will post points there as soon as I can.

I am not questioning your greatness at all, but how does green smoke fit in with the song? I re-read the lyrics and I still don't see a connection.

Well, at the moment there's only my coffee... and I'm afraid that's a no-share zone. But we can share a dance later. *nudge*

You were the first team to finish, and your team score sits at 62 points!! Your dance card has been updated in Post #2.

Please do not post your song choice on any of the threads, as this will give others an unfair advantage. I would ask that you please send me a Private Message with the Song Title and Artist of your choice.
I will then collect all your choices and add the relevant lyric and Youtube links before posting on the game threads.
I've also sent you each a Private Message to this effect, which you can just reply to. The only criteria for the song choices are below:
* It must be in English
* It must have been in the Top 50 in any country, at some point in time from the 1960s to 2012.
Thank you.

LOL! You mean to tell me you've been trying to get a head start in choosing your book????

Isn't that the point of getting to choose a song? Picking a song that helps me out the most? I did pick a song that would be easy for everyone else too... it wasn't all selfish. hehehe.

I'm a planner... it would be good to know if it's ok to start a book now, or if I should hold it and start on Friday because it would be more points. So the soonere we get the list of potential songs the better off we are to find books to fit all the possible choices.
His post is here.

My team lost last time and i can't get over it :( , i'm very competitive (sorry) :)

No need to apologize Ab2y. I'm competitive too but the most important thing is to have fun ;0)
