Dami (Damiellar) (damiella) | 97 comments I've had a bit of a scan and I'm thinking I'll go with My Favorite Mistake (My Favorite Mistake, #1) by Chelsea M. Cameron this week.

It's got setting, name, and shelf points at a minimum.

I'll hopefully pick up another couple of categories while reading.

Blood Will Tell (Warriors of Ankh, #1) by Samantha Young

Book: Blood Will Tell by Samantha Young
Rating: *****
Finished: 2/6/13
Review:
This was a first time reading anything by Samantha Young but oh my gosh it wont be the last! This story was so great and had my skin crawling and nerves on edge at times because despite it being marked young adult it is a fairly dark story. I had read and heard Samantha was an awesome author but just didn't know what to expect but I am eager to read the next two books in the Ankh series now and see how this tale progresses. I must say there was not really alot of romance or anything in this first part but more of a build up for it hopefully in the next book but heck it was able to stand strong without it!

My Favorite Mistake (My Favorite Mistake, #1) by Chelsea M. Cameron

Book:My Favorite Mistake - Chelsea M. Cameron

Rating: ★★☆
Finished: 8-Feb-2013

Review:

Note to self: always check the full extent of the shelves which a book has been assigned to before reading. I found this book very 'sweet' and I don't really do sweet. I also don't do 'college romance' books very much...because they're generally sweet.

Taylor Caldwell isn't happy but she's come to terms with the state of her life as it is when the book opens. She's in shared housing with 2 other girls and just waiting for their fourth housemate to arrive when he does. Just a tad unexpected.

Taylor has mega anger issues and boy does Hunter Zaccadelli enjoy pushing her buttons. He is constantly winding her up. There's one particular scene where Taylor tells Hunter that she'll help him do the dishes if he's "not an ass for the rest of the day". When the housemates are told about it their reaction is, "Is that even possible?" Yeah.. despite the amazing physical attraction between them both it just doesn't work for me.

So, some other bits that annoyed me. Taylor had a bit of a traumatic incident in her past (which is alluded to very frequently until it's revealed) which is one of the reasons for her anger and firm decision to not trust men. She finally tells Hunter about it and abracadabra the trauma is erased never to affect her again.

Seriously?!?

All I can say is I'm glad I didn't pay money for this one so I don't need to keep it. Not my thing at all.

Links:

SHELF - on Bad-Boy shelf
COVER - Couple kisssing links to video
PLOT - Hunter is a 'bad boy' (or an idiot... depends on your point of view - still he's got the tattoos and the attitude). Taylor also flashes back to the 'event' which happened when she was 12 everytime she tries to get close to a man until she is 'magically cured' by telling Hunter all about it (spare me please)
NAME - Female protagonist is 'Taylor' to match singer's first name.
SETTING - Song and book were both released in 2012.
WORD - 'rhythm': His hand tapping a steady rhythm on his leg - ePub p360

Individual points: Shelf (1) + Cover (2) + Plot (3)+ Name (5) + Setting (6) + Word (1) = 18 points

Pushing the Limits (Pushing the Limits, #1) by Katie McGarry

Title by Author: Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry
Read: 2/8/2013
Rating: ★★★★☆
Review:
This was a very sweet YA romance. Noah was the best kind of bad boy and Echo was a damaged but still strong heroine. I really enjoyed seeing their relationship develop and seeing them realize what it takes to grow up. Both of their back stories were well-done and the writing was great. This one almost made me cry a few times! Definitely looking forward to more from Ms. McGarry.

In Rides Trouble by Julie Anne Walker
Rating: 3.5-4 stars
Date Finished: 2/9/13
well, I have to admit I liked this one more than the first book in the series. Becky was such a great heroine. She was strong and smart and sassy. I liked Frank well enough. He wasn't a hero I just swooned over though. I think that's due to the fact that he resisted acting on his feelings for sooooo stinking long. That, and the fact that I had to stop reading mid-book and scroll through the reviews because I thought Frank was cheating on a "significant other" by sleeping with Becky. Thankfully my GR friends set me straight and told me to keep reading and ignore the knit in my stomach (thanks Megan!)

Cowboys And Angels (Aspen #3) by Cindy Stark

Book: Cowboys And Angels by Cindy Stark
Rating: ****
Finished: 2/10/13
Review:
What a wonderful story this was! Katy has always played it "safe" in her life's choices but now her bad boy from highschool crush is back on the scene and has her heating up and ready to let it all hang out which is sooooo not like her but ohhh what he does to her! (I mean literally too!)

I think I could almost sympathize with most of the characters in the story especially Katy because I feel like I was a good girl but wanted to be bad at times but please don't tell my mama! I could feel where Scott was coming from to because although he got a bad rep as a teen he had a really hard time back then which made him that way and maybe even made him the better man he turned out to be because of it. Now I was very upset with Katy's mom and best friend and even her boss for trying to interfere in her personal life by basically trying to make her choose between her new love interest or them. Would you give it all up for love?

Book: Sheer Mischief by Jill Mansell

Title: Sheer Mischief..mischief being another word for trouble
Shelf: Bruno Parry-Brent....your typical cad!
Plot: Bruno is your typical bad boy...always looking for the next unsuspecting girl to come along....using his charm! well..Janey is a lonely woman, and Bruno makes several attempts to woo her....he finally tries a "less-is-more" tactic....which has a history of working on women with low/no self-esteem :)

Review: well..I am a sucker for a good romance....this one really takes the cake...because...it felt more true to life than some others I have read..where 2 people meet...and become friends...and that little "feeling"..comes upon you unsuspecting! you meet Bruno(the bad boy) first....and you wonder if he is going to change his ways....but then you meet Guy Cassidy....who has that "bad boy" persona about him, yet is really quite endearing, and very down to earth....and you find there is much more to him than you think.... :)

We're going to the community college, a ballet troupe from Birmingham is coming to do Sleeping Beauty. The girls are excited. The only live ballet they've seen is The Nutcracker. I'm considering making them dress up for it like we did when we went to the symphony. LOL

Christal | 90 comments I kinda wish they would just keep posting the cheat sheet every week because its hard to keep up with all the things they've approved or disapproved in separate messages. I originally thought the links to the song were going to be our interpretations of the lyrics and video, but it seems like it is a set thing that was decided on previously so it would just makes more sense to me for that to just be posted. I've been spending so much time waiting to see what is okay and what's not that I haven't even really started to look for a book. Sorry ladies, I'm just grumpy today lol.

message 400: by JenniferJ (new)

JenniferJ I must say I have to agree I would prefer the cheat sheet to just go ahead and be posted along with the song selection each week because it does get confusing and time consuming having to plow thru all the messages just to find out what's acceptable or not.
