Cassandra Who were your favorite characters and did anyone think Magnus was awesome.

Even though everyone makes him out to be cruel he isn't. Lucia and Amia the kitchen maid mention he puts on a false exterior.

What were your though in Falling Kingdoms?

[Just finished reading Falling Kingsoms and would love to discuss]

Jennifer Love to discuss! I loved Cleo and Nic. I actually wasn't too big a fan of Magnus. I do think he has the potential to be a good man but he needs to stand up against his father. So evil!

Cassandra Did like Cleo and Nic.
They were quite a funny pair of friends.

Jennifer I was so sad about Theon. When Jonas had Nic I was scared too because I love Nic. I wanted Cleo to get with Nic but I kind of think maybe she will get with Jonas?! Even though Jonas hated her, towards the end the way he kept thinking about her made me wonder. I hope Cleo can find the Kindred and get her kingdom back.

Cassandra Me too, Nick and Cleo wanted them to be together but the problem is that got the vibe that they could only be friends and that Cleo and Jonas might end up together.

Although do`want Cleo to find The Kindred and think she can't. It can only be Lucia since sorceress can sense it.
Cleo only has the ring that will allow her not to get corrupted by the power of The Kindred.

Cassandra Amanda wrote: "My favorites were Magnus and Lucia, their point of views kept me on the edge of my seat."

Really me too!
So glad that they turned out Not to be brother and sister. They pulled a Clary and Jace from The Mortal Instruments.

Jennifer Maybe Cleo will eventually team up with Lucia? I think Lucia is a good person and eventually she will see her father is evil and just using her and then maybe she will try to help make things right. I kind of expected Magnus and Lucia to run away together so he could keep Lucia safe but I don't think he wants to give up his heir to the throne.

Cassandra Jennifer wrote: "Maybe Cleo will eventually team up with Lucia? I think Lucia is a good person and eventually she will see her father is evil and just using her and then maybe she will try to help make things right..."

Definitely agree. Lucia is a good person.
Although Magnus don't feel he'll like to give up his royal inheritance to the throne.

Bruna Bellini I agree.. Magnus is also my favorite character! I hope to see a better twist of his actions!
And about the book.. well.. i think it started pretty good, but then... i think it got a little bit lost.
I mean, Lucia knowing that her "father" only wanted her because she was necessary for his conquer and even so, she is ok with that?!
I also think the author isnt that good to make romance, too.. i couldnt get a good chemistry between the characters.
But i'm still curious to read the second one!

Jennifer I did think it was a poor choice for Lucia to follow her father and break down the doors to the Auranos castle. Clearly her father is evil! Yeah not too much romance in this but I just think there really wasn't supposed to be. I kind of liked Cleo and Theon but I admit I was hoping Cleo and Nic might get together. But I think she only sees him as a friend. I hope it develops in the next book but I think she might end up getting with Jonas. I couldn't really ship Magnus and Lucia either. I know they are not blood related but they grew up together so icky! LOL

Bruna Bellini Jennifer wrote: "I did think it was a poor choice for Lucia to follow her father and break down the doors to the Auranos castle. Clearly her father is evil! Yeah not too much romance in this but I just think there ..."

Yeah, i also kind of liked Cleo and Theon, but i think in the next book, we gonna see some romance between Cleo and Jordan. I still think Cleo only sees Nic as good friend.
And i know it's kind of sick ship Magnus and Lucia, but it's sad to see him turning into an evil guy because of his one side love.

Liana My favorites to read were Cleo and Magnus because their pov had a lot of depth...I felt like Lucia's were a little bland.

I liked Magnus's character until the end when it was evident that he is more like his father than I thought in the beginning. I can't wait to see how much he fights against that side of him in the books to come and if he can get over Lucia because I don't think she will ever feel that way towards him.

But my favorite characters are Cleo and Jonas... They are so similar and full of fire. I hoped that they would eventually get together sinse the second chapter.

While I did get a little teary when Theon died we didn't really get to read about a relationship with them and I hope that Cleo's heartbreak over him doesn't plague the rest of the novels. She can keep him in the back of her mind but don't let him interfere.

I agree that Cleo and Lucia will team up...for some reason I fill like they compliment each other really well, almost like they are two halves.

And I think some Ioannes and Lucia action will turn up...I was surprised at the end when he said he would have to kill her. What is that about? It's clear that he has a crush on her.

Miranda I liked Magnus until he killed Theon. I really wanted Theon and Cleo to end up together, but she'll probably be with Jonas now. The book did have some good twists, but seriously when Theon died I was ready to throw the book out the window like Bradley Cooper's character in Silver Linings Playbook.

Bobbie I love the book, It' nice to have charters who are not all bad or good everyone has a little bit off both in them.
I always find charters are only one way but lefts face it we are human and we make dumb choices in life.

I love cleo and i had a feeling when she first's see Jonas in the market she would end up with him (fingers crossed) but she has not just falling in love and thats it as many books, she has done mistakes (Aron) had her first love (Theon) she a great developing charters who i feel will get better in the next book.

Jonas can't wait for him in the next book, i loved that he smart and all fire so i'm looking forward to him in the next book as i need more of him.

Magnus, is such a bad boy and we all love a bad boy's and i wonder where his charter will go, he is being pulled in all directions but which will he choose good or bad, i hope we don't know till the end and keeps him being a twisted charter. he loves Lucia which is weird but will he go where she goes, so many choices.

Lucia, Jonas, Ioannes, Nic and Mira they all have there part and i think in the next book they will be a lot more to them and i can't wait to see where it all leads too.

Maira my favourate character is Magnus and Cleo. i admire ther strenght and determination.

Olivia Tate By far this is my favourite book! I did like Magnus, he has this hard outside shell but I agree he is good on the inside. I think once the series goes further we'll learn more about Magnus. I also think he's going to try and prove that he's not like his father.

Maira Liv wrote: "By far this is my favourite book! I did like Magnus, he has this hard outside shell but I agree he is good on the inside. I think once the series goes further we'll learn more about Magnus. I also ..."

you summed up the whole character in this para but this is exactly what i thaught.

Lígia Bellini My favorite character so far is Magnus. I know he is turning evil, but i'm sure at the end he might change sides. I just don't like much of Cleo and Nic. I hope her personality change and for better. Bec for me, she is annoying. Nic is the usual "too perfect" guy we read on books, tht never stay with the one he loves! He'll always be the best friend, tht will end up helping to fix something very important on the story. Abt Lucia, well.. the girl knows she was kidnapped to help her "father" on his evil actions and its ok for her?! >_<' I might try to read the 2nd book. I hope things change a little bit and the same goes to the characters!

Allie Salter Magnus was my favorite too! He's so protective of Lucia, even though he's very vulnerable himself.
I think in the second book Magnus will help Cleo, in exchange for the magical grape seeds to help Lucia.

message 20: by Amy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Amy Magnus, Jonas and Lucia are by far my favorite characters. I really thought Cleo was a spoiled brat and needs to gain some compassion and empathy. I know she seems to be brought down as far as possible at the end of the book, but I'd really like to see her hit rock bottom and I don't think she's there quite yet. Once that happens, I think she might gain some better quailites as a character.
I like Jonas and Magnus so much because while they're flawed I could relate to them and understand why they felt the way(s) they did and I thought many of their actions were justified (mostly Jonas, Magnus went a bit overboard).

KingKiller The characters were the reason this book was very mediocre to me. Why is this even being compared to Game of Thrones, which has some of the best characters I've ever read about?

Cleo is just annoying, and the author clearly struggled with the romance aspect of the book with this love for her guard having pretty much no build up whatsoever? Don't write romance into it if you can't do it right, instalove is just boring and not creative in the slightest and is the downfall of most YA books in my opinion. The ending of the book makes me think that Cleo will sort of end up being the main character and the one with all the power, which is one of the reasons I probably won't revisit this series.

Despite being a Jaime Lannister wannabe Magnus was the only character I sort of liked, though I wish he wasn't such a pussy. If he got off his horse when he first went to get Cleo and killed the guard one-on-one, I could envisage me liking him more.

The other characters to me were just indifferent, Lucia naive and Jonas boring and I can see him getting more annoying and boring when his inevitable relationship with Cleo begins.

Overall, this book was just too YA for me, and the characters as well.

Abigail Smith The only point of view I actually enjoyed in this book was Cleo's and at times, Jonas's. The part of the story that focused on Magnus and Lucia simply bored me. Overall it was only an okay book, and the only reason I liked it is because I'm a sucker for books in which characters hate each other and eventually grow to love each other. That's really it. Rhodes really fell short on a lot of aspects of the story. Lucia should have been the most interesting character, possessing magical powers, being stolen from her crib, and belonging to a conflicted household. Instead, she was the most boring character of them all. Secondly, Cleo falls in love with her guard seemingly when the reader isn't around. We must have been off visiting another character when they bonded; that or they fell head over heels for each other incredibly quickly. It genuinely felt like a filler while Rhodes tried to build up the tension and bonding between Cleo and Jonas.
With all my complaints, I liked the book. I just found some parts rather dull in its simplicity.

i personally loved magnus in the second book rebels spring because of his character development of finally realizing he doesn't want to be his dad and i didn't like his relationship with lucia and how he was sinfully in love with her and that also changed in the second book where he is starting like cleo and she is starting to like him because of their situation (for those who have not read the book you need to read it to find out what happens) and can't wait for the third book and how events have turned out.

Lani Magnus is my all time favorite character , although I also liked Lucia.

Lovetoread47 Iffy on Magnus. Rendering towards Jonas. Nic is second.

Claire I HATED Magnus. He was a jerk. I like Jonas. His personality is awesome and not all high and superior like Magnus.

Eleanor Rigby Zara wrote: "I HATED Magnus. He was a jerk. I like Jonas. His personality is awesome and not all high and superior like Magnus."

I thought so too, and then I read the second book. I like Magnus WAY more than I like Jonas after reading Rebel Springs.

I wasn't a fan of Magnus in the first book, but wait till you read the next installment(rebel spring). I TOTALLY fell in love with magnus.

Maira I like Magnus's character in the first book but the second book was the one in which i started to LOVE him.

Sabrina MAGNUS IS AWESOME AND HE AND CLEO NEED TO BE A COUPLE IN LOVE BY THE END OF THIS SERIES OR I WILL DIE! Cleo is my favorite character, but Magnus is my second favorite, and I have thought they would make the most perfect wonderful couple since Falling Kingdoms and (view spoiler) So yes I do like Magnus. He has his flaws, and so does Cleo. I mean everybody has their own demons, but most people have at least some good in them too. People with good in their hearts will see beneath the surface of others and find the goodness in them like Cleo at the end of Rebel Springs so Magneo forever my friends. Magneo Forever.

Ashlee I've gotta say I'm glad I read both FK and RS in quick succession because I agree with some earlier posters, some of the character development in the first book wasn't great...there were enough hints though that I was happy to keep reading and RS definitely made up for it!

Magnus has definitely gotten better but I still prefer Jonas for Cleo...there's another two books to come so I think this love triangle will be a big feature...I also think Magnus and Jonas will end up on the same side...as much as he is trying to be the dutiful heir, Magnus doesn't agree with what his father is doing and the fact that Cleo and Lucia have banded together could sway him towards 'Team Cleo'

Sylvia Leon I recently finished Falling Kingdoms and Rebel Springs both, and I always loved Magnus's character.
When it came down to the romance, I really don't have that much of an opinion formed. In my opinion, there was poor relationship development. If I had to really choose, in all honestly, it would be Magnus and Cleo. Jonas and Cleo would be a close second, but I'm still not quite sure.

dreams_of_a_butterfly I like Cleo, she's like Sansa (from a Song of Fire and Ice), someone who doesn't deserve the mess they've gotten themselves into.

Hailey I love Magnus so much! It frustrates me to no avail when people say he is cruel or compare him to Jeoffry Baretheon from A song of Ice and Fire. Magnus puts on the false exterior to survive because lets face it, if he were to act as he is with his father he would probably be killed. He is such a complex character and so interesting to read about.

Kay Magnus was given the honor of becoming my favorite character (the reason that's an honor is because I can be very forgiving of what my favorite characters do). He seemed to have the most depth to me, the most complications and problems. He also reminded me of Zuko from Avatar: the Last Airbender.

Cleo was alright. She was a little annoying and naive at times, but she gave off a better impression near the end of the book.

Jonas was my least favorite character. His thought-patterns make absolutely no sense. He's worse in Rebel Spring.

Lucia... I barely even know who she is.
