Queenie (magicalb1tchqueenie) I'm seriously just so sick of "YA" books. Some have such amazing stories to tell but all centered around unbelievable teens that never cease to irritate me to death to where I can't enjoy the amazing world that has been created.

Any suggestions for books that DO NOT involve an overpowered, bratty teen for the protagonist? =]

** EDIT: Thanks to everyone for the recommendations! Appreciated. =] **

Cee | 51 comments I think there are more non-YA UF books than there are YA ones.. Won't list any since Joseph already did a terrific job (;

Gaelle Cathy (gaellecathy) | 18 comments Legacy by GC Lehane has characters age 18-50 some. Oh no, one character is 17. Story takes them over the course of 2 years though, with also very non-kiddy topic such as racism, homophobia or at least gay&lesbian topics are among the subject the characters face. Gaelle Cathy (gaellecathy) | 18 comments Story follows them over more than 2 years; must be 2 and a half, almost 3 years, can't remember precisely but something like that.

Pagetranquility | 12 comments Are the Jennifer Armintrout books YA or Adult? She has two series as far as I know, a vampire one, and I think a faerie one.

Kristen (kristen8) | 46 comments Pagetranquillity,

Obsidian in "Lux" Series by Jennifer Amentrout is YA. Homecoming dress shopping and everything.

J. Smith | 2 comments There are a lot of series out there written with older protagonists (the top list is amazingly long but I see many missing) but Publishers and Authors are chasing the Twilight, Hocking, etc YA market because so many younger readers are web/ebook fluent and many older readers that are web/ebook fluent still like the YA stories (I saw reports that the YA readers span 13-35). It's like why farmer barns are red is because red paint was cheaper because it was used to paint so many darn barns.

J. Smith | 2 comments I'm reading L Hamilton's series and it's an 'older read', nicely written. I'm in the first two and told the first three are the best .. there are something like twenty in the series.

If you like steampunk, then there's Soulless (Parasol Protectorate, #1) by Gail Carriger .
