Religious/inspirational. I recommend Standing on the promises by Christina Whitaker. I just finished this book and when you read a really good book that impacts your life you want to share it with everyone. I have to wait to read something else because this book is still on my mind. An excellent book to read.

message 309: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michelle94904) | 2 comments Hi all, I'm Michelle from over the Golden Gate Bridge in Northern California, and I'm going to wrap this book and put it in my Christmas stocking , if I can wait 'til then to start reading!(...Along with my Non-Fiction Book Club's next read, The Disappearing Spoon.) I am a paper book reader FYI, I do not want a Kindle or other electronic reader.

I have read most of Oprah's picks, although not with the Oprah Book Club, and generally love them. My favorite novels I've read lately were "The Art of Fielding" and "The Help", but there are lots of other well-loved titles on my Goodreads list (which I update religiously.)

Looking forward to being part of the group!

Terri ♥ (aka Mrs. Christian Grey) (mybookboyfriend) | 1 comments Hi, I'm Terri. Where am I from? A little bit of everrywhere but I currently reside on the east coast.

I'm an avid reader. I've read over 250 books this year even with a full time job, a husband and kids. This is because I listen to a lot of my books. Love audio.

My favorite authors, I have many. Too many to list. I like all genres. Check my bookshelf, reviews, and fav author's list if you are really so inclined.

Thanks for having me.

Austin Wimberly (austin_wimberly) | 1 comments 1. Where are you joining us from?

Hi all! My name is Austin Wimberly. I'm the author of Sobornost, and I'm from Birmingham, AL.

2. What is your favorite book or author?

This is a tough question. I'm a fan of The Confederacy of Dunces, and I enjoy most Dickens novels.

As far as authors go, I love reading Ann Patchett, John Irving, and David Foster Wallace. If I had to pick one favorite author, though, I'd have to go with Tolstoy. I know that probably sounds pretentious, but it's true. No other author has affected me so profoundly.

message 315: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (debwood224) My name is Debbie, and I live in east Tennessee. I have 3 favorite books: The Help, Where the Heart Is, and Walking Across Egypt. Some of my favorite authors are: John Grisham, Janet Evanovich, James Patterson, John Sandford, and many more!

Edward P Jones' The Known World was some of the most impressive writing I've ever read, so he and it would be a favorite as well.

I read the Twelve Tribes of Hattie last week, so I'm looking forward to the discussion.
