It has several villains, actually. One outright evil, others disguised as allies and in the second book even one that is neither black nor white but more shades of grey - I'm not quite sure if I like or hate him.
But I really loved the book! The writing is fluent and draws you in immediately. And Gabriella is a great heroine, very courageous and strong, someone that young girls can admire, I think. And even though the story is fast paced there are some very thoughtful moments in it about right and wrong, about responsibility and courage and hope and belief in the face of adversity. Some lessons about life and love and even death that might give teens something to think about.

I already finished Cascade (River of Time, #2) by Lisa Tawn Bergren which is even more action-packed and dramatic than the first book and have started Torrent (River of Time, #3) by Lisa Tawn Bergren now. Can't wait to see how it all plays out. :)
