Welcome, Claudine, always glad to hear from another fan of From a Buick 8, which doesn't always get a lot of notice from King fans.

My name is Loreen. New here. I want to read books of Stephen King and discuss them with you. I am looking for titles with a hardcover in combination with an audiobook; it keeps me focused on the story. If you have a recommendation, please share and tell me which chapter/pages you love most.

Kind regards,

Clint Bungles | 6 comments Hey folks, Clint here from Nova Scotia, Canada. Huge King fan since I was a kid (an uncle gave me a dog eared copy of Christine to read for a return journey home. I think I was 12). I've read 60 of SK's books, collections, etc. and just finished Needful Things last night for the first time and figured it was high time to join a group dedicated to the King.

Cheers all. CB

Debra Harrison (bookcollecting101) | 7 comments I am a long-time fan of Stephen King and have read almost everything he has written (including having read the Stand 6 or 7 times). My early reading life began at the age of 4 when my Mom bought my first adult book, The Complete Works of Edgar Allan Poe because I loved The Raven which she read to us from 101 Famous Poems. so I have been a fan of horror since the age of 4 (so more than 64 years by now) I like other authors as well - Dean Koontz, Truman Capote, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Joyce Carol Oates, Harry Crews, and many more. I also read a wide variety of genres from horror to classics to literary fiction to sci-fi and many more.

I consider myself an avid reader. My best vacation was one year when I read 9 books during a 2-week vacation.

I am a 4-time cancer survivor and spend a great deal of time at home as I am now disabled due to chemo exacerbated peripheral neuropathy with chronic pain. I spend a lot of time online and a lot of time reading. I have been even more homebound since the Corona virus reared its head.

I have a sizable home library which I started after reading a quote by Jorge Luis Borges, "I have always imagined Paradise to be a kind of Library." I began collecting books for my retirement years. My books are as varied as my interests. My books consist of signed first editions, fine bound (leather) books. books by small and specialty presses, a group of books of historical importance, and a group of hard-bound first editions plus a bunch of trade edition books.

I look forward to getting to know you. Thanks!

Radiant Realm | 14 comments My reading affair with Stephen King began when I was 10. 'It' came on TV as a mini-series and my parents thought I would be terrified if I watched, so they tried to prevent me from being terrified by handing me a really thick white book... They said I could read 'It' if I really wanted to know what the story was about. So I walked around with that book and a pocket dictionary and read about things that, no matter how tightly I held my blankets, I could find no protection from.

I have enjoyed the details in Mr. King's books ever since then! I love allowing my mind to enter a totally different (albeit sometimes weirder) world than the one around me. Mr. King also introduced me to the world of fantasy books through the Dark Tower series. (Wizard and Glass will always be my favorite for that reason...and I love how he revisits Roland's worlds in his works.)

For so many years Stephen King books have been a major part of my life... my entertainment, my escape, my reason to learn, my reason to read. Now when he mentions classic books that I haven't read, I add those to my list of books to read. I read many authors... but Mr. King will always be my favorite!

Stephanie My love for King came in high school when I read Misery for the first time. Since then I've been a fan and trying to read through most of his works. I'm down to read anything though! Been following this group for a while but I'd like to start getting into some discussions and read some picks of the month :)

Susy (susysstories) | 91 comments Hi everybody! I’m Susy from the Netherlands (though my roots lie in Portugal). I’ve been a SK fan since high school. At a certain point I just didn’t feel like reading his books anymore so I took a break. But I’m back, intending on completing my collection and reading all those books of his I have not yet read (and after that starting anew with the books I read in high school).

TS | 1 comments Hi all,

I just joined recently and am looking forward to all sorts of King related conversations! I am from the PNW and enjoy all things fall, Halloween, creepy/crawly.

I started reading Stephen King when I was pretty young, around 10. The Green Mile movie was coming out and my dad said I would not be allowed to watch the film until I read the book. He has been a huge King fan my entire life. Since then I’ve been trying to make my way through all of his books.

The Dark Tower series is my favorite series of all time and I am one of the few that greatly enjoys how to story wraps up. I am also a big fan of Pet Sematary and have reread it more than any other book I own! I have a long way to go before I’ve read all his work, but I will get there and am so looking forward to the journey!

Happy Reading!

Sheri Hello! I've been a King fan since high school. I've read each of his books at least once and a few two or more times. I've recently started re-reading some of his books that I haven't read in years (since high school) and love them even more now than I did then. Glad to be part of this group!

message 4283: by Flower (new)

Flower | 79 comments Hello everyone, I'm new here as well.

I've been a constant reader for more than 20 years now. There is hardly a story I didn't enjoy. The most fascinating aspect of King's books in my opinion is the way he lets us look inside the characters' thoughts. I think his characters are so vivid and interesting. So, the longer the book, the more enjoyable it is. :) I'm looking forward to participating in the group discussions.

Greetings!

Kayleigh (terminalreader) | 1 comments Hi! my name is Kayleigh and I've been a Stephen King fan since I picked up Skeleton crew at 13.

I am particularly fond of the Dark Tower and all works along the beam/pertaining to Flagg. However I do highly enjoy all of his works and own everything he's written.

I just finished Billy Summers and was absolutely overjoyed with it. King really shows what a talent he is in this book, personally.

Anyways, have fun reading!

Matt (mattreadsabook) | 7 comments Hey! I'm Matt (they/them pronouns). I am becoming a pretty dedicated King fan at this point so I figured I'd join this group. I've read 10ish of his works. 15 if you consider the individual volumes of the Green Mile, which I don't really because I read them all back-to-back as a continuous story.

My favorite book so far has to be It. I read it in the course of about three days with the help of the audiobook. It definitely got me out of a reading slump.

The next books on my tbr shelf are From a Buick 8 and The Stand.

Looking forward to chatting with you all!

Matt (they/them)

Peter (petersteinke) Hey everyone! I am Peter from Canada and I re-discovered my love for reading this year and plowed through 9 King books before moving on to some other authors as well.

My favourite by far is Misery. I primarily read to escape reality and the interesting psychological nuances of that book are exactly what I was looking for!

I'm probably going to read "Roadwork" next once I'm done Bram Stokers Dracula.
