I'm Annaki from Denmark.
The first book I ever read by King, was The Tommyknockers, I was 14 and to this day I remain a little baffled that I actually managed to chew my way through it, because not only is English only my second language and I was young, but I was (and am) not a fan of horror. At all. But for some reason, even though I would probably have been better off starting with one of his other books, I got hooked and moved on to the ones that have become my favorites- The Shining, The Stand, It, The Dead Zone, Misery, Carrie, The Green Mile and so on. I still have a good number of his books that I haven't yet read, but I'm getting to them :)
So yeah... that's me :)

We are currently reading that one as a group and our consensus is that even though it isn't his strongest plot, his writing is terrific anyway.
Welcome!

Love Stephen King 😊 I am an avid reader so read whatever I can get my hands on📚"
Welcome. We all read more than King so this is also a good place for recommendations.

Welcome! Coincidentally I am listening to Joypland right now and have only a bit left. It's a re-re-reread for me. I hope you like it. Clearly I do.

Thank you! I'm absolutely tearing through Joyland right now. I started this afternoon and I've already almost hit page 100. So far, I am really enjoying it. Hopefully I'll end up I end up re-re-rereading it too. Enjoy!

Pretty sure there was a reference to Joyland in Revival which I actually really enjoyed.

Welcome! I love that you used King for a graduate course. ;)

Thanks! Yeah it was a class that relied heavily on memoirs. I was surprised to see it on the syllabus. A great read, though. Glad my professor included it!

The Shining is awesome! I've read it a couple times.

I've been reading King since I was a girl, and now has been almost 32 years of being a constant reader :)
Favorite books are The Stand, Different Seasons, Sa..."
Welcome! I love that your favorites all seem to be "classic" King.

There are many audio lovers here, so don't worry about that! I actually enjoy listening to an audio after I've read a book because they are often very different experiences.
Welcome!

Nice to meet all of you Stephen King fans! My name is Nicolas and I write to you from the tiny Pacific Island nation of Fiji. I must admit, I'm not much of a reader, let alone a Steph..."
Welcome. I would like to assure you that much of what King writes is not horror. He has been labeled as such because he excels at it, but he is not a one trick pony. A few of his that are not horror are The Body, Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption: A Story from Different Seasons, The Talisman, The Colorado Kid, The Green Mile and many of his short stories.

Welcome, Drew, and I think 11/22/63 is King's best book of the 2010's.

What was in 17 that gave you trouble? I suppose I could pull out my book, but I still may not know if I did that. ;-)

I have been wanting to join a book club for years so I am so excited to discover this! I just got back into reading and there is no surprise that after reading my first Stephen King novel I just couldn't get enough. So far I've read The Shinning, Doctor Sleep, and It (I just finished this one today).
I am obsessed with his writing and I hope to write a little bit someday. So if anyone has any advice on what to read next or how to "book club" let me know! :)
