I read this book as a child, trying to locate for my daughter to read. I only remember the girl played a harp. Her father was color-blind and bought her the wrong colored hair ribbons. At the end of the book I believe she is playing her harp on a bridge.

So, not knowing how old you are... How old do you guess this book might be? Do you remember if it was a fantasy, or set in modern times, or a sad family story with a missing mother, or a funny story? Do you have any idea what the cover might have looked like, or whether you read it as a paperback or hardcover?

It does sound interesting enough someone should be able to remember it if we can give the right clue. :)
When I read the book in the early 80's, it seemed a current book. it was a paperback but I don't remember the cover. I remember crying at the end of the book. She was upset with her dad and he bought her ribbons for her hair as an apology I think.

This book is No Scarlet Ribbons by Susan Terris. See here, same query found through a Google search.
