LOL. We will see. my plate is full with challenge stuff already, so I don't know if I can fit that novel in.
Besides, thanks to you, i just saw that Books 4-6 are around 1000 pages or more, so I can use it for the very long book item in that very hard challenge you put together (the really, really, really hard 2013 challenge: May 2013)

:) hehe There is a method to my madness. You'll see a few more of these challenges going up that will help the other challenge.
Hmmm....I'll have to think about this. Seeing as it will help me with that hard challenge Jennifer created, lol!! What kind of series is this like ~ Karen Marie Moning like with her Highlander series or more epic fantasy like such as Game of Thrones - just curious....
There really aren't any comparisons. There's time travel, hot dirty guys in kilts, unexpected heartache, unexpected love, pain, torture, love, sex, marriage, family, prison, loss.... It's just an epic story. The first book will put you through the wringer.
I have read the entire series twice (exception to Echo in the Bone only read 1 time), and Outlander I've read 4 or 5 times. This is my absolute favorite book series! I adore the characters, the plot, the setting, and the historical information that Gabaldon painstakingly sticks to. It is a wonderful series and I am always trying to get people to read it.

Sounds more epic like Game of Thrones. Still have to read the last one out in that one. Those suckers take me forever, lol!!
It's written better than GoT, though. The story flows very well. The GoT style drives my head crazy. I hate having to constantly switch between characters.

I bought GoT in audio, but I am going to watch the HBO version before I listen. Plus, I want to wait until he is closer to the end before listen. Serious cliff hangers drive me nuts

Now, now - the change of characters is part of the charm of The song of ice and fire (GoT is only the first book in the series). And Ez, I recommend you read the book and then watch the TV show. ;)As for this challenge - I Outlander it on one of my lists but since it's a large series a always put it off. Plus, it sound too romantic and that's a thing I rarely if ever read. Not yet sure if I'll start it this year, but you're certainly giving me an incentive, LOL. ;)

Ez ~ I second Kattibrie's suggestion of reading before watching. The book is way better than the HBO series. I read first and then hubby and I watched it. Just my two cents☺
A couple of the books are kind of slow going and then take off. It's the slow going parts that are hard for me. I've been doing them as buddy reads otherwise I would always pass them over, lol. I have
A Dance With Dragons on tap for January.

Romance is part of it, but seriously the other things that happen are not romantic at all but do add to the loveliness of the story. When I finished the first one I literally felt like I'd been to war and barely survived. It was brutal.

Maybe I'll try it this year, we'll see...
I second what Melissa says about Game of Thrones! I am thinking about doing this. I have read the first one twice and am one of the few people that wasn't crazy about it. But I am willing to give the series a try again and it will definitely help with that crazy hard challenge!

I'm listening to an audiobook on the side when I can't sit down and read, but mostly just reading these.

You can read it, I would just read it next time, not listen to it. I got it on kindle. I think if I read it, and skimmed through some of the fluff, then the reading would go faster. I will definitely continue, just on my kindle

I LOVE the narrator who does the Outlander books, but they definitely can make them feel longer than they are - as if they aren't long enough already!Dragonfly in Amber starts off a bit slower - Jamie and Claire are in France schmoozing with nobles and royals and such, so there's a lot more political intrigue and a lot less adventure. I definitely enjoyed it more when I read it the second time instead of listening.
I did just buy The Fiery Cross in an audible sale. It's 56 hours long, yikes! I'll probably end up half listening half reading it.
