So, I'll get my book finished by tonight, luckily it's a public holiday here in Spain, so I can just sit on the sofa and read all day :)
I updated the spreadsheet as well.
Cindy, how are you getting on with your book? :)

Finished my book!

4½ stars - I was quite surprised at how much I liked this book!
Usually, when books are too popular, I tend to expect them to be overrated and hold off reading them. I had to read this book for another challenge and I'm really glad I did :)
The stories that make up Ram's life are wonderfully told and I think Swarup managed the perfect balance between lyrical and good storytelling that just makes you read on and on.
Funny and heartbreaking at the same time, it manages to show us all the horrible and unjust situations of Ram's life, but somehow it never becomes grudging or complaining. But also not "I'm so strong" which would have been as bad.
All in all, I really liked this book and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it :)

I thought this book had a really good story and the things that happened to the characters were very gut-wrenching. So, I really liked the book for that.
However, the book is written in Scottish vernacular (as you will clearly see from the quotes!) and that really took away a lot of the enjoyment for me.
Usually, the story just "happens" and I barely notice I'm reading. But with this book, I had to "sound out" every other word in my head to understand it and so it was very choppy and took away from the emotion of the book.

5 Stars!
I can not wait until I start the next book. Wow a great book and what a cliff hanger....Thank God that Book 2 is here.
It is not so much a triangle as I thought....and the vampires are not the scariest things in this. The storyline is fast paced and creepy. But the love affair between Eve and Michel is slow and plotting.
I feel as though I am Eve....experiencing it first hand. She thinks she loves him, wants to be committed to him but can't give up her independence, she can't quite submit 100%. Until she does, he holds back....
Book 1 was fantastic and I can't wait to start book two this evening. I know not everyone agrees with me...but so far I put this at a 4.9 stars!
Weather - Wind (Page 53) "I hear noises I've missed -the crackle of the fire in the hearth, the wind underneath the windowpane behind the curtain, a branch tapping against the leaded glass window."

Okay... I marked this as 5♥'s... but it's really just 4.5♥'s at the most in my opinion.
Now, I'll be the first to tell anyone how much I LOVE this series, how much I LOVE Daemon... but this book is NOT my favorite in the series. If I had to rate it from just the first few chapters... I would have given it 3♥'s. At best. No joke, the first few chapters were really lackluster in my opinion. It was a slow, rough start to this book. Daemon and Katy seemed to be in this funk that had none of their usual banter and sparkle. If I didn't love the series so much, I might have just given up early on.
From 1/3-1/2 to way in, it's like that 'love' switch got turned on again. So, once finished, I once again LOVE the series as a whole... and can I just say, "Holy Cliffhanger Endings, Batman!"

By the way, do any of you have any contact with Cindy? I was thinking I would send her a PM tomorrow, just to check how she's getting along...

No, she didn't - she wrote that she would write a message in here right away... I would say we give her at least until the next word is called and then if still nothing - I will try and write her again, ok?

And none of us have claimed that yet! Yay! :)
Happy reading everybody, I will go hunting for my book

○Review: Stephanie is running short on money to afford repairs on her newly acquired home, her cousin Lucy gave her an alternative, cooking on the pirate ship ‘Savage’ for a new toilet. Watching his new cook roll down the hill caught his attention, Ivan just didn’t know how much attention he would have to give this new addition to his crew until his favorite ghost, Tess starts showing her presence nearly everywhere. This book was a funny and quick read.

Read December 17th, 4♥'s

I didn't LOVE this like so many others do. It was good, it entertained me and I did read it nearly in one sitting.... but it wasn't great for me. So it was an above average romance with damaged characters, I felt like we 'knew' the main couple well from the book. And I must admit, Micha's aqua eyes and lip ring (*swoon*) had me panting.
The reasons why it didn't rate higher... I've had some person experience with damaged parents. Alcoholics, manic depressive, suicide attempts are all sadly 'old hat' for my past experience with at least one of my parents, and I know everyone is different and react and cope in different ways. But I just had issues with Ella's issues, with how she dealt with them... I just didn't find it fell within my expected realistic portrayal of everything. I guess ultimately, I never really felt connected with Ella myself. Micha, I totally understood his problems, and had no problem accepting his behavior, reactions... I got it. I accepted it. But Ella... maybe if she had stayed a goth I might have identified with her more. I don't know. Basically her side of everything just fell flat for me as a reader.
To warn other readers, too... this is a tamer romance. There is some spicy action, but it's a long way getting there are much faster than I prefer. I've enjoyed many 'vanilla' romances with light or no nookie, but this one left me wanting still in some ways. I will likely read the rest of the series, if nothing else just to get more of Micha's aqua gaze and mentally imagine playing with his lip ring.

I really thought I'd like this book - premise was great and I usually like the Japanese way of thinking and writing that I've encountered elsewhere (like Haruki Murakami). But this was just quite terrible... I don't know how much of it was due to the translation, but it was so choppy and simplistic!
A lot of telling and NO showing at all! It was constantly: "We need a broom", she said. "Ok, I will go get the broom", he said. She thought it was so great that he was getting the broom. "Here is the broom", he said after returning with a broom". "Thank you!! That is so great that you got the broom, because we really needed to get it!", she said (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) And that was more or less what it was like ALL ALONG!
And maybe it was something terribly unique (time-travelling and memory repression) when this book was published in Japan, but it's nothing new to me as concepts. So I need an interesting twist or storyline or good characters, but it was just bad..
The only positive thing I can think of right now is that the cover is really pretty... :(
I've heard the manga/anime is really lovely and I could believe that, but this was not... I likely wouldn't have finished it if I didn't need it for a challenge.

○Review: I read the first book, so I decided to continue the series and read this book. Jack is a royal prince who is visiting the state of California. Stevie is the owner of Princess Limousine Service. They meet at a New Year's Eve party, where Stevie is there to pick up her ex, Emerson, and his new fiance, Roxy a royal princess, who is the sister of Jack. Stevie was a strong woman, who has adopted a strong tomboy persona. She's hard on the outside and soft on the inside. Jack is a infamous playboy, who manages to see past Stevie's exterior and see to her true inner self.

This is the 13th book in the Sweep/Wicca series. They're very easy to read and quite exciting and I like the stories of the characters' journey into the world of magic and Wicca :) This book is about a "new" character, Alisa, who travels to find her mother's family and her heritage as a witch.

Review:
A lovely romance with Middlegasms!
This is one of those, 'feel-good', fun, flirty romances that is a fast read. The characters are not perfect, but not so damaged that it feels like a session in therapy to read. Edge of Disaster is a wee bit 'fast' on the romance (aka insta-love... or almost,) but sometimes, that's just the type of book you need. Right?
I do want to clarify... I still would not consider this to be a 'fluff' romance. It does have some darker moments, some scary-type situations. It's not all romance and flowers and candles. There is some actual conflict and trauma that Alexia must overcome. Heck, the beginning of the book starts with examples of her downward spiral and walk of shame. I like how it's still seated in reality and not entirely glossed over to make 'real life' seem perfect.
The chemistry must be mentioned... combustible, smoldering, get-your-seat-wet steam. I will also never again look at a diamond tennis bracelet in quite the same way (who knew it could be a sex toy?) It was very titillating and worth the read just for the between the sheets action.
The only thing that stops me from going to 5 stars... honestly I wanted more. More steam, more romance, more conflict, more everything. It was entertaining and enjoyable as is, but I think more of everything would have turned that knob up to an '11'.
I still HIGHLY recommend running out to get your own copy, and see the man splendor that is Pearce.
