Week 1 : Tie
A Virgin River Christmas by Robyn Carr
Finished : 2/12/12
Rating:★★★★★
I loved this book , it was an easy read and at the same time very emotional , it almost made me cry a couple of times. It'd been great if there was an epilogue.
Items
Tie:There was, of course, gold jewelry and a colorful red, orange and purple Hermes scarf looped around her neck.(pg 148 )
Rainbow:there was a rainbow shining through the snow drifting down onto the tall pines(pg 42)
Emergency Vehicle:Besides, they have the Humvee ambulance.(214)
Bone :He took sniper fire in the thigh, but it was
muscle not bone,...(46)
I'm done with my book as well.Week 1: Tie
Every Last One by Anna Quindlen
Read: Dec 3, 2012
Rating: ★★
Short Review: This is a kind of Oprah Book Club "life affirming" book: perfect life, really awful tragedy, but with a silver lining. The protagonist is phony, the tragedy is heaped upon, and everyone who doesn't like the heroine is either a fair-weather friend or a crazy person. This book was worse than the normal life affirming books, nothing happened for the first 200 pages. I mean, we read about lunches and laundry and dishwashing. I have those staring at me in my own house, thank you.
Items Found

Sorry Chaitra, you can only claim one item per catergory per week. Your 4 items have to be 1 clothing (which has to be tie this week), 1 weather, 1 body part and 1 misc.
You can repost or edit your original post. Just make sure your items are right before the team can claim the bonus points.
You know what? I knew that! I even wrote the items from different categories in a book, then had a brain fart and posted this. I'll edit my original post with the proper list and repost that as well! Thanks for the heads up Dawn!
**** REPOST!! With the right categories!! ****Week 1: Tie

Rating: A Good 4
I found:
CLOTHING: TIE Annie tightened the tie of her jacket around her waist.Page 210
BODY PARTS: TAIL the cat stuck his tail straight up in the air... Page 263
WEATHER: SNOW He needed sunglasses to look at that pink sweater against all that virgin white snow, Page 20.
MISC: MUSICAL INSTRUMENT The fire was set to roaring, Annie put out food, and a local band set up, with Nick strapping on a guitar.
I loved this sweet tale of two tortured souls finding themselves, and each other. I've found a new favorite author. very similar to Susan Mallery's work. I'm hooked
Is next in the series, and Im off to read it now.

Yes we might be the first team to finish. But does it matter at the end if a team finishes first? OR is it just the points that determines the winner?

It matters who gets to 32 points first. So finishing first this week has no impact on it. Somewhere between week 8 and 12 it will get down to a race to finish. But not necisarily for all the teams.
WEEK 1: ITEM: TIEBook: The Next Accident by Lisa Gardner
Finished: Dec. 3, 2012
Rating & book Review: 4-stars—It was really good! FBI Agent Pierce Quincy reunites with his ex Lorainne “Rainie” Connor to take another look at his daughter Mandy’s suicide. Quincy can’t shake the feeling that there was more to Mandy’s accidental death than meets the eye. Plus, part of him needed a reason to contact Rainie again because of their unfinished business. Rainie, who is now a P.I, agrees to take the case and quickly learns that they are dealing with a murder, and not a drunk driving incident. This murderer has a personal agenda, and the Quincy family is on the killer’s hit list.
Boy, this suspense/thriller was gripping. It was like watching an episode of Criminal minds because Quincy & Rainie were dealing with a really brilliant criminal, who took his time planning his murder spree. Who is this person targeting Pierce Quincy and his family and why? And how is he always 2 steps ahead of them?
If you enjoy suspense thriller, then get your popcorn ready because this one was good!!!
Items:
Clothing (Tie): “He had loosened his tie and rolled up his shirtsleevesin deference to the wet-wool humidity” (Pg. 66, in The Next Accident)

Body Parts (Toe): “Rainie complied, jabbing at her Glock AO with her toe, but not putting much effort into it.” (Pg. 366 in The Next Accident)
Musical Instrument (Horn): “jazz is my favorite, he told her amiably as he escorted her ot the doors and the first notes of bluesy horns washed over them.” (Pg. 61 in The Next Accident)
Updated our Week 1 progress and posted our request for points .Ezi ,would you check my posts to make sure everything is correct?

Week 1
What happens if an item that we have claimed gets called? Do we get less points because of that? Can we then change the items we have previously claimed to get the perfect score?
Chaitra wrote: "No ShoSho, I think we need to read it again to get points..."I know that we have to read a book that have the item for each week. I think I can explain my question with an example
I claimed rainbow this week , and I got the point for it. if it's called next week I have to read a book with rainbow in it ,and I can claim another 3 words ,so instead of claiming 8 items in this 2 weeks I have claimed 7 items. So how can I get a perfect score if that happens?
Shosho, you are right. it will happen to most of us through the game. only 1 or two people in the whole game might make it perfect. It really is the luck of the draw if an item you've already claimed gets called.
Dawn (Kat N Hat) wrote: "Congrats, your point is updated. second on the board."Thank you and thank you for the explanation, got it:)
Got it, our post numbers!
ShoSho, you just keep reading at the end till you have all the items.Last round I ended up with Three(?) places! I thought I would never finish!!Hardly anyone, (except Katya) lol has finished with a perfect score. Im sure she did it!

Someone else on my team last time finished perfectly along with Katya. I just can't remember right now. I have always been 2 away, but it happens to all teams.
LOL. I was planning and reading Cat & Bones this weekend, but I may read something else instead. Chaitra, are you reading the "v" book in our other challenge--GR w/friends? (Invest)
As I am addicted to Jill Shalvis I will read the 600odd pages that is
. I finished
and decided to carry on. Loving them!

I could be Ezi! One member hasn't checked in yet, depending on what she reads, I'll be reading either V or T. In any case, I think I won't start that book today. :)
♥☆♫★ Kathy, bahd gihrl♥★aka Drama Queen wrote: "Ez! Wouldnt Cat and BONES Be perfect for this week!!"That was what I was thinking too, right???? Reading
ShoSho wrote: "That book is so good Ezi. Another one of favorite series."I have it and book 2 on audio for the past 6 months. Maybe I will see if I can fit it into a challenge for next month.
Question: is Bones okay, as opposed to "Bone"---will Dawn accept that?
I think she said if it's plural you have to find the plural word, like socks.but if it's single you can use either.
